pick32 Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 They have brought in Mike Cheston a local man who has had 15years previous experience at Everton, looks a very good appointment for the board.
patrickvalery Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Cheers pick. Sounds like he has the credentials.
Blue Cabbage Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Well I never, didn't think this would actually happen. I presume they stumbled into this appointment rather than making a sensible decision ??!!
Stuart Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 http://www.rovers.co.uk/news/article/rovers-make-board-appointment-1330094.aspx
FGS5635 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Rumour as it he is on a YTS and shelfie is going to train him up (minus the fax machine obviously)
T.J.Newton Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 He was at Everton throughout the 90s when they where absolutely penniless yet they still managed to stay in the prem, seems a good, sensible recruitment on paper
Ryan Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Might seem a fairly obvious question but what exactly will his role involve? 15 years at Everton certainly sounds encouraging
CapeTownRover Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Good stuff... wonder if this gives us an indication, that Venkys will be here next season. interesting appointment though, sensible but interesting
Mercer Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 As I flagged on the Silk thread earlier this week. Certainly seems to have the experience needed. Don't be surprised if there is a further senior appointment soon.
Bucksrover Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Good news! Well done to those who sorted this out
Roverall Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 This makes the prospect of impending administration look highly unlikely. The riddle of Venky's goes on. He seems to have good credentials.
OJRovers Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 4 year previous "financial consultancy", i'm never too convinced. But...at least we've appointed someone who has some relevant experience.
rovers11 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 What is going on with this club?! We make some decent signings, haven't sacked a manager in months and now appoint an experienced boardroom member!! As someone said earlier, a big indication that Venkys are not planning on jumping ship anytime soon.
neophox Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Well, Venkys haven't done anything wrong this season what I can recall? *The have sticked with Bowyer. *They bought in some quality players in Conway, Evans, Gestede and bargain of the season Cairney. *They have appointed a well known finance director. *They have got rid of Jerome Anderssons KEAN signings and reduced the wages. *They have been quiet in public. so on and on... The seasons Before they had a guy called Jerome Andersson who they laid all their trust to and things Went straight down. They got rid of Andersson and some board members and is now on road to some stability. Getting rid of Andersson, Agnew and Shebby has been the mainfactors this season for the club. Then when bad eggs like Orr and Murphy left the spirit has moved up! Also, remember that Venkys owners are VERY RICH. Don't Think they want the tail between the legs..
thenodrog Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 This makes the prospect of impending administration look highly unlikely.Alternatively.... Maybe he has some experience in the process of Administration. What is going on with this club?! We make some decent signings, haven't sacked a manager in months and now appoint an experienced boardroom member!! As someone said earlier, a big indication that Venkys are not planning on jumping ship anytime soon. Other side of the coin and some might opine that they are making it 'saleable'.

No.1 on your list (in appointing Bowyer), instead of getting an experienced manager, may have been a bad decision. Time will tell.
stuwilky Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Other side of the coin and some might opine that they are making it 'saleable'. That was exactly what I thought!!!!
thenodrog Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 World Cup year Stu. All the nouveau riche from the developing countries will be there no doubt and the likes of Jerome Anderson will be all over them like a rash.
bob fleming Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I doubt Jerome's got the money to get over there let alone get a hotel. Maybe his lad can lend him a few quid?
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted January 31, 2014 Moderation Lead Posted January 31, 2014 As long as he can direct the finances, and has experience, fair play. Judging by recent accounts, he'll be a busy man!
MCMC1875 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 He was at Everton throughout the 90s when they where absolutely penniless yet they still managed to stay in the prem, seems a good, sensible recruitment on paperIf he's that good, why has he left Everton?
gumboots Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 He hasn't come to us from Everton. He's not been in football for a while but now wants to be involved again. His leaving Everton wasn't because he was no good at the job. Read the article on the first page.
