Hmmmmm! Well I suppose that's a good point. Sounded like we were the 2nd best team for much of the game - didn't really have a clear cut chance to score. If we had done the business against the weaker teams in previous matches this would be an excellent point.

Just have to hope the other results go for us in the next several days and see where we are when we eventually play again.

Only Leicester have beaten Boro at home in the league this season.

In the scheme of things, it's not at all bad. It's when Bowyer plays these away tactics and home - resulting in dropped points - that we have a problem.

A point gained, let's get ready for the next one.

Tough place to go so a point is well earned it's just disappointing results at home and at places like Barnsley that mean we need sensational results in games to catch up to the playoffs

Good result as Boro is a tough place to go. Sounded like we were second best first half and pretty even second half. Would certainly have take a point and clean sheet before kick off.

Excellent set of results for us today as it was a weekend where I thought we'd lose ground but we actually gained ground. The teams around us had very winnable games but only Brighton and Leeds won. Forest, Ipswich and Reading all failed to win very winnable games which I was surprised about.

Good day overall.

We need the teams around us to seriously screw up when they play their games in hand over the next fortnight too.

Looking at the fixtures and playing Brighton and Reading next (which seems ages away), if we play it cagey against those teams it will be tough to stay in touch with other teams gunning for the play offs.

Brighton also won there.

Also I think that the Dabo signing is a very strange one because he isn't starting in this current system and I doubt that he is a better player than Evans and Bowyer is clearly a fan of Williamson. So I don't really see where he features in the team, with Cairney, Taylor, Evans, Lowe and Williamson ahead of him.

Puzzling turning out away to Boro with a 4-4-2 with one of the midfield Dunny! It's like handing possession and territory to the home side on a plate! Obvious to all that Dunny can only offer his undoubted quality to the cause by playing in the hole in a 4-5-1 imo.

Yet again another week passes and JR fails to score and when that happens he is an expensive luxury. It's so obvious now that I'm beginning to wonder if Bowyer is actually being forced to play Rhodes?

We have the squad to have a good go at getting in the play offs but not if Bowyer continues to handicap the team with stupid tactics.

If truth be told we've gone there and set out as usual for a draw with the hope of pinching a goal on the break or set piece. Teams know we are too lightweight and easy to push back and get at us right from the off, targeting the weak right back spot. After the mullering in the first half we should have been well behind. Credit to them for weathering the storm and coming out with a good point in the end, only really a good point because of other results but there you go. The coaching team will be jumping through hoops tonight because they got what they always strive for on the road= a clean sheet and a point :)

They played a midfield diamond from the off then reverted to a version of 442 after getting carved open at will from the first min.

If that had been the intention then surely Bowyer would not have gone with two strikers and a 4-4-2 set up. Bowyers done well for the club without a doubt BUT continuing with 4-4-2 is doomed to failure imo. Every week we are being constantly pushed back into our third of the pitch.

I know stuff like this gets said every week, but, we have to BEAT Reading and Brighton to have any realistic chance of getting into the play-offs, they are both 'six pointers' if ever there was one(two!) and I wish Wigan would get those bloody games in hand played(and hopefully lost)

,

Just going off the commentary and texts from the game, whatever it was the team was uncomfortable and didn't gel from the off again and as usual midfield wide open. This inexperience excuse is starting to wear thin with me now, he's proved in the past he can get the basics right yet keeps tinkering about. Lowe rubbish again today away from home.

Well given that he was the only defensive midfielder playing today I'd imagine he'd have had his work cut out stemming the tide.

btw to anyone who went it appears that Boro had all the possession 1st half but that we evened it up after HT. Was the wind a factor in this?

Never had you down as a WUM, Gordon, don't start now. It's getting a bit old though, this line.

YOU have now got the Rhodes that YOU wanted. The one that does being-in-the-right-place-at-the-right-time-and-scoring-goals, has been moulded into one who works harder for the team. Just like YOU wanted.

If what you meant was that you wanted him to turn into Alan Shearer then you should have been more specific. At least then we could have debated that point with the credence it would have deserved.

What we really need is a time machine to go back to when 442 still worked - maybe we'd all be happier then? ;)

Is it the result or the performance that matters? I've seen us muller teams while playing "negative" tactics but only get a draw mainly through poor finishing. Today we sent out a very attacking lineup - got outplayed but got a draw...
