LondonRovers Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Noticed there was no topic for the Millwall game so thought I'd start us off seeing as we're playing 5 minutes down the road from me. On the back of 3 disastrous games we've managed to string together 3 half decent results; an away win and 2 draws, one against the runaway league leaders and one away against a team who had 6 wins from 6 at home without conceding in the last 5. Is this the start of a late season push for the playoffs or just another opportunity for us to get out hopes up before we throw it all away against a side bottom of the league with 1 win in 12? I was at the game on Tuesday and thought we played really well for the majority of the game. Gestede was fantastic and it was great to see the majority of our players chasing the ball down and going in for tackles. However, Kane is a liability at right back. On Tuesday he seemed genuinely scared of the ball, not wanting to do anything with it except either hoof it upfield as quick as possible or pass it to the closest player to him. As well as being caught horribly out of position a few times, he was also at fault for the penalty when he keaned up a simple clearance before the handball, although if the ref had been half decent it wouldn't have been a penalty at all. We desperately need someone with a bit of experience and defensive nous to fill this position if we are going to put up a challenge for the playoffs next season. If we play to the standard we did on Tuesday I am expecting a comfortable win over a poor Millwall side. 3-1 Rovers. Gestede (2), Rhodes. On a side note where will Rovers fans be congregating before the game. London Bridge is the traditional away supporters meeting point, usually either the Market Porter or Barrow Boy and Banker. If anyone fancies meeting for a few drinks before heading to the game let me know.

tomphil Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Millwall lost at home the other night so they'll be looking for a reaction. We are still quite easy to score against however we set up. Millwall 2 Rovers 2
TBTF Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Oh please not the Play off sham again? 5 points out the last 18 FFS is not the form of play off contenders with loads of ground to make up on the teams in front of us.8 wins from 9 games is probably what needed. What can possibly go wrong?? Bet Shelf and GB are telling the Rao's we are certs!!
No Nay Never Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Oh please not the Play off sham again? 5 points out the last 18 FFS is not the form of play off contenders with loads of ground to make up on the teams in front of us.8 wins from 9 games is probably what needed. What can possibly go wrong?? Bet Shelf and GB are telling the Rao's we are certs!! Not that I think for one minute we are good enough or indeed deserve to be in the play offs this year, but 10 points from the next 12 available (highly unlikely from experience this season) would probably see us within 3 points or better of the play offs come full time v QPR a week on Tuesday. Instead of slagging off the fact there is a very very slight chance of the play offs why not get behind the lads and do our bit?
only2garners Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Bear in mind if you're meeting at London Bridge that there are no trains to South Bermondsey on Saturday.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 The interest in this game is clear by the post count.. 1-1
mattjansen Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 A game in hand and eights points to sixth isnt impossible but given our poor ability to kick on and form some momentum this season makes it a slim dream, although after Millwall we have Brighton,Ipswich and QPR at home in a week. 9 points and we are there, otherwise its not gonna happen. Im feeling quite positive though with Cairney,Hanley and King back in the squad and hopefully starting eleven. Push Keane out to right and put back Hanley centre would my weekend. 1-3 to Rovers
booth Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 We should win this but it depends which Rovers/Bowyer turns up.
GanG2245 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 we still have to play 4 teams from bottom 6. so if we win against brighton , ipswich and the bottom teams, there is a chance.
TBTF Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 we need 7 and possibly even 8 wins out of the remaining 9 games. Some on here seem to think the other teams have no games left!!
Backroom Tom Posted March 28, 2014 Backroom Posted March 28, 2014 Playing bottom of the league there's no reason not to win if we fight for it as much as they do 1-2 win
joey_big_nose Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Team I would love to see. ----------Robinson Lowe---Keane----Kilgallion---spurr -------Cairney---Evans ----King-----Dunn-----Conway ------------Gestede
andyrovers351 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Will be going to this one and have an air of confidence with Cairney and co back and Millwall be bottom of the league (hopefully not a kiss of death!!), will go for 1 - 3 Conway, Gestede, Dunn. Off to The Hole in The Wall pub at Waterloo for a beverage or two
roversfan99 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Robinson Lowe Hanley Kilgallon Spurr Evans Cairney King Dunn Conway Gestede Subs: Kean, Rhodes, Taylor, Williamson, Keane, Kane, Varney.
chaddyrovers Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 quite interesting seeing a few people would drop Rhodes. same team as tuesday execpt Hanley in for Kane. Cairney and King on bench..aswell as Lowe, Eastwood, Kane, Taylor and Varney going for 4-1 Rovers win. Rhodes with 2, Gestede and Conway with the goals
Neal Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 We've been Beaten off Charlton & Birmingham at home and only just managed to beat this lot at home... Can't expect anyone to call this one. I said 1-1 for last weekends fixture, I recon this will be 0-0... Might put a bet on this time.
LDRover Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I reckon we'll win 3-1 and the 300 rovers fans that go will take the home end.
riverside returns Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I would like to see GB take a gamble and play Robinson Keane/Hanley/Kilgallon Conway/Cairney/Evans/Dunn/Spurr Rhodes/Gestede
ABBEY Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 we still have to play 4 teams from bottom 6. so if we win against brighton , ipswich and the bottom teams, there is a chance. A chance of what?:
somersetrover Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I'd also like to see us go 3-5-2, I think that it is a system that would suit us. Robinson Keane Hanley Kilgallon Conway, Williamson, Cairney or Dunn, Evans, Taylor Rhodes Gestede
West Yorks Rover Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I really can't see Cairney starting, GB has form for having players coming back from injury on the bench for at least 2 more games before a start, ie, it looks positive, when in fact they're probably not ready at all.
USABlue Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 The interest in this game is clear by the post count.. 1-1 Wait till we lose there will be plenty of posts
JAL Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 With Lowe and Henley out of the team would have thought the chance of victory increases somewhat.
Al Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 With Lowe and Henley out of the team would have thought the chance of victory increases somewhat. On the contrary I hope that Lowe plays but at right back.
