darrenrover Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 just my opinion based on the matches I have watched. Conway, Gestede, Evans, Cairney, Killgallon and Marshall showing promise as additions to the squad. I am not saying it is certain, and the players and bowyer need to improve. Plus we may have to sell due to finances so who knows. But I have hope. Definitely renewing the season ticket to try and support. Fair dos Bucks I'll be renewing mine too but more to do with blind faith than optimism. I've seen little this season to be optimistic about next either from the team or management. We've not demonstrated once this season that we can take a game by the scruff of the neck and dominate the opposition for 90 minutes. Not even a flicker. Qualities I'd say that were absolutely paramount for a team with aspirations of promotion. There's a hell of a lot of work to be done both on and off the field between now and August for anyone to have any realistic hopes of promotion IMO. That's without the other complications still hiding behind the curtains!

Bucksrover Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 It's not misery and hate FFS .. It's realism !!And they are VENKYSCUM in caps .Now jog on in your lala world of make believe . Profound as always. I am a supporter. I try and get behind Rovers and support what is good about the club. You can't it seems. You can only focus on what has gone wrong. I think it is right you can say your piece on the messageboard. Shame you don't have the same view.
Majiball Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 yep, 8 points behind with a game in hand, piece of cake, did you like that chaddy impersonation? Suddenly I feel all warm and gooey inside
jim mk2 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Agreed Riversider, specifically I don't think we'll ever progress with Lowe in central midfield, regardless of any other deficiencies in the side. Even when he doesn't play (and we still don't win) there's still someone waiting to criticise Lowe. It's idiotic.
bluebruce Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Holly still surviving on his exploits at Blackpool and playing the idiot at interviews in the premier league... But he has achieved far more as a manager than Bowyer has or is ever likely too do... Holloway is a good manager. But he's an attacking manager, and that sort of football is never going to work at Millwall, that's not who they are. Even when he doesn't play (and we still don't win) there's still someone waiting to criticise Lowe. It's idiotic. It's still true that he's not good enough, even if mentioning it today is pointless. But it's playing two defensive mids that is REALLY winding me up, regardless of who they are! What a stupid strategy.

Right enough Bucks, that is one of the biggest problems on this board.....Trolls, they claim to support and hide behind "When we".
yoda's brother Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 That was the club's marketing dept. A stupid slogan, but just as stupid to give it any credence. Bowyer might turn out to be avarage, he might not. Far too early to judge considering the huge turnover of the squad. Only stupid people can see that. ha ha

Husky Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 just my opinion based on the matches I have watched. But I have hope. Definitely renewing the season ticket to try and support. Hi. Just wondering which games you have seen. As the majority of stuff I've seen has been god damned awful.
USABlue Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 a good manager would cut out the individual errors that lead to all these pens. we shouldn't keep finding ourselves in these positions chasing to get a point Wow how the feck do youcome up with ignorant tripe like that. Just how does Bowyer control individual errors. Id like to know I really would cos I want to apply the same techniques to people that work fot me.
USABlue Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Three points from the last three games when as it turned out there would still have been a chance to make a last gasp stab at the play offs. Extremely disappointing, much like the season since the turn of the year. We fielded a weakened side against Citeh in the Cup replay, got mullered and all the momentum fizzled out of us like a punctured balloon. Yes lets just ignore the fact one was against the run away league leaders, one against a Watford side that won six on the bounce at home without conceding. I' give you perhaps we could have done better at Millwall even with injuries and reportedly soft pens. That said the timing of some good results involving teams above us makes it hard to swallow. Even the loss against the cherries is softened by how well they are doing, ditto the run of form Wednesday were on about the time we stumbled across them.
arbitro Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Just back from the game and once again there are more questions than answers. I was surprised to see what appeared to be a 3-4-1-2 formation with Tommy Spurr playing wide left. Positionally he looked like a fish out of water at times and I doubt he has ever played that position before. Dunn was blowing out of his arse from early on and was too often a passenger because of this. Bowyer usurped himself when Hanley was sent off. He put one of our most creative players (Conway) to right back and moved Spurr back to left back. He brought the headless chicken Taylor on and played him on the right ahead of Conway. We were crying out for some creativity as Cairney warmed the bench. Overall a draw was probably a fair result but in patches the game was as poor as I have seen for a long time with a distinct lack of quality. I really cannot see any improvement from Bowyer as he looks out of his depth on the touchline.
Mike Graham Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Unfortunately, and I wish it were different, GB has looked out of his depth all season.....time to go GB.
bazza Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Millwall lost at home the other night so they'll be looking for a reaction. We are still quite easy to score against however we set up. Millwall 2 Rovers 2 Can I have the next winning lottery numbers, tomphil? Well predicted. So now we've lost to Millwall, do we instead have 3 away? Knew we'd lose today. Too obvious really. No backbone and no leaders in the side. Including the management. Still, we'll make those play-offs that everyone keeps talking about. Don't cross your bridges and don't count your chickens etc. Am I the only one who realised about three weeks ago that the play-offs are not attainable. But the season isn't over. I'm enjoying watching Bowyer and the boys experimenting and gaining experience playing together. Relax folks. We aren't in danger of relegation.

Some reports in media said it was 4-3-1-2 formation not 3-4-1-2 but that's aside. some fans have been asking for Bowyer to try 3 centre backs formation so he does. but then gets criticise for trying out a different formation. some people aren't happy ever lol. looking at the Hanley sending off was very harsh and actually looked like a foul on Hanley by Morrison. second pen wasn't a pen at all. Keane clearly played the ball. refs at this level are shocking and clueless.
roverandout Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 again chaddy, did u go? if not I would rather listen to opinions of people who actually went to the game
chaddyrovers Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 again chaddy, did u go? if not I would rather listen to opinions of people who actually went to the game are u season ticket holder or even go to any games at Ewood Park?

I haven't criticised Bowyer for trying it but for playing Spurr in a position he clearly was comfortable. To carry this debate further what do you think Bowyers strengths and weaknesses are?
roverandout Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I was going to ewood park before jack walker came along, so get off your high horse
chaddyrovers Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 It was definitely three at the back. I haven't criticised Bowyer for trying it but for playing Spurr in a position he clearly was comfortable. To carry this debate further what do you think Bowyers strengths and weaknesses are? strengths:- Signings players for first team like Kilgallon, Spurr, Conway, Cairney, Evans, Marshall, Gestede. getting players playing with pride and passion in most games changing the culture of the club and playing squad around from the previous 3 seasons of turmoil. Weaknesses:- not changing tactics during a game or making subs during a game quickly enough but is learning. signing some poor squad players I was abit shocked when he took Rhodes off for King today to use his pace in behind their defence today. good tactical change today. u agree with this??? guess we miss Gestede today??? Roverandout, that wasn't my question tho was it? I guess u don't go anymore then :-)

"not changing tactics during a game or making subs during a game quickly enough but is learning." I haven't seen any evidence of him learning personally.
Backroom Tom Posted March 29, 2014 Backroom Posted March 29, 2014 Chaddy I'll give you the first one but I think the second two positives there are anecdotal Pride and passion in MOST games just isn't good enough what about the likes of Bolton away and Bournemouth at home? We seem just as hit and miss in that respect as under Appleton and co (compare and contrast the spirited comebacks after shocking first halls against Peterborough and Brum) I haven't seen any real evidence of this culture change either I'm still of the opinion at the moment of giving him until Christmas and assess then but I think some of the positives mentioned about him are in fact a symptom of venkys being further away from Ewood park than anything he's done himself.

JWUpper Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Just seen the Hanley penalty and sending off on motd...very, very harsh to say the least!
chaddyrovers Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 even Holloway said Hanley sending off was very harsh and probably not even a penalty for them..
