Brfcrule1 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Wen if Steve Kean during his tenure was looking after us I hate to think what the definition of willful neglect comes up in the English dictionary. It's like what Venkys said at the time that we are there baby if that is true they must be our Tracy Connelly.
Guest Wen Y Hu Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 "Looking after" was a euphemism which I then expanded on. This embellishment didn't make the final edit for some reason... You don't seem to be too far out, though, with your summation. The point I was trying to make, however, is that there is an issue on the part of the owners, who have invested too much authority in a single person to discharge duties that they are not qualified for and for which they are not accountable to an executive (board of directors) that should be performing a supervisory role to keep that authority in check. It is a system of governance that is open to abuse, which is compounded by the owners' multi-faceted ignorance and their physical distance from the club's operating base in Blackburn. In view of this, we are quite fortunate, in my view, to have had Gary Bowyer looking after the club in what I hope is a transitional period as we move towards a more acceptable form of governance. Keywords: vertical society, hierarchical society, feudalism, modernisation, fascism, chancers, opportunists, abuse of power
Brfcrule1 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 sorry Wen I did not mean to criticise I understand what you are saying. I hope to this is a transitional period and after one season together & providing we can keep our best players injury free we will see an improved Rovers next year if we somehow miss out on the top 6 this year.
Guest Wen Y Hu Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 No problem, Savio. I realise that you are aware of my distaste for those responsible for our plight. As I see it, the horror of the last three years is a direct result of the potent mix of an anachronistic authority structure and witless, obstinate ignorance. It has laid the club open to abuse and those who have taken advantage of this opportunity to abuse their positions of authority have done so with impunity and taken the club to the cleaners. I think the Raos should consider themselves fortunate to have in Gary Bowyer someone who has "looked after" their extended "family" with the best interests of that family at heart. My view from afar is that he has saved the club from going under over the past year. The possibility of new owners, the new executive structure that is taking shape and signs of decent potential on the squad front give me hope that we can avoid having to rebuild the club from the Conference or wherever we might end up if we were to go under. I also think it is a reasonable hope because I don't believe it is an option for the Raos to fail - the financial hit they must have taken so far is an indicator of such, I believe. Paternalistic pride might save us where paternalistic vanity has done its utmost to ruin us.
