DavidMailsTightPerm Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 13 points and unbeaten in the 7 games Lowe has not frequented the midfield. Promotion form without, mid table mediocrity at best with. Just saying.... Just saying 7 games where Conway has shone - and more importantly the return of Evans. I have said for a long time that our season may revolve around Evans availability. Without doubt the best football we played this season was the short time that Lowe, Evans and Cairney played in the same midfield. Just as some people call Lowe - I really don't rate Williamson - far too slow, as a result you always feel he is on the verge of a sending off as he often pulls back players and makes late lunges as he struggles to keep pace.

I feel that Williamson has been playing better recently to be fair, though I do agree that Lowe, Cairney and Evans are our best midfield.

Exactly DMTP, Williamson is sooooo slow and clumsy, he is a FL2 at best.
Neal Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I didn't realise their number 25 was on loan from Palace Probably the best player on the pitch over the 90 minutes He came on against us for Palace last season and was frightening.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 How many season tickets did we sell for this season? is it the general consensus that the attendances are being inflated and hundreds if not thousands of fans are not turning up even with a ST?

Agree with this. Bowyer's fondness for williamson is beyond me.
Backroom Tom Posted April 6, 2014 Backroom Posted April 6, 2014 He came on against us for Palace last season and was frightening. I remember him now although I think he was even more blonde last year
AndyNeil Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 How many season tickets did we sell for this season? is it the general consensus that the attendances are being inflated and hundreds if not thousands of fans are not turning up even with a ST? From memory there were just over 10k STH...the last two games seem to have seen a dramatic fall off in the numbers coming through the turnstile - a figure which someone must have.
Mike Graham Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Well we enjoyed yesterday. Grim first half but much improved in the second. I doubt more than 8000 in the ground which is a massive problem for the club. Yep, the 2nd half was better and we had that fantastic finish from Rhodes.Good to see Dickson on even though it was for the 5 minutes injury time. I believe I was only his 2nd appearance in 17months.....not bad for a £30K a week lad. However we could do with someone like him once fully fit again.

Agree with this. Bowyer's fondness for williamson is beyond me. Availability is in some ways the key - though why he doesn't trust Cairney to play centre midfield alongside Lowe is beyond me. Personally (when Evans was injured) I would have played Cairney alongside Lowe - with possibly Taylor wide on the right for his work rate.
thenodrog Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 .... For the first time in three years I'm actually beginning to look forward to a new season.Thats the 3 points effect. It seems like 3 years since we last won! Not the best match but I did enjoy the contest. Decent all round performance by the players but I felt although both teams wasted possession on too a regular basis. I was sat next to a PNE supporter who was enjoying a spot of Corporate and who scoffed when the rather 'stout' Dunny appeared on the pitch. After 10 minutes he was a fan after watching him play triangles and keep ball around the Ipswich players and stifled any ambitions of a point for them. Superb finish by Rhodes and a very welcome 2nd to kill the game from Gestede, who already appears to be a crowd favourite. Bloody odd how the ref didn't give a penalty for the foul on Gestede but he was behind and in-line. Even more odd that the linesman didn't intervene.

If many ST holders are not turning up, which is clearly the case, god help us for next season. I can see regular 7k to 10k gates occasionally only boosted by the likes of Leeds.

His cameo was our favourite bit of of the game, apart from the goals. Surely there is specialist somewhere, who can work with him to keep him fit for another season!
Neal Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Bowyer saying Gestede has the potential to have everything and gives an indication that he sees Cairney as a out and out winger now... ""With the delivery that we've got from Craig Conway and Tom Cairney then he's going to get some more goals for us."

tomphil Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Couldn't make it yesterday so had sky on and when they did the visits have to say the BBE lower was very sparse in the background. Must be loads of ST there staying away now, must say I still find that strange if you live local and have paid for the tickets, it's hardly a boycott. Poor IMO but each to their own I suppose. Dread the gates next season, other small clubs fans stick with their teams so why the hell can't Blackburn people ?
Neal Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I remember him now although I think he was even more blonde last year Wouldn't surprise me if Bowyer made an inquiry... Seems to take note of players who perform well against us. Could be an ideal replacement for Dunny if Palace would be willing to let him go, defintely the sort of player we're missing when Dunny isn't fit enough. EDIT: On seconds thoughts, maybe not... http://www1.skysports.com/news/12040/9189589/
Riverside67 Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Well there were two ST's who did no go at our end. Not really a deliberate thing but a domestic job needed doing and in the scheme of things it became more of a priority than being disappointed at Ewood once more. I could take the defeat to Burnley but Bowyer's incompetence ahead of the Bolton game switched me off the rest of this season. The Burnden fiasco was a major could not give a toss to 3000 folk who paid good money to see yet another no show.
tomphil Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Riversiders67. Yeah I take your point I know people are fed up with the tactics etc but it's worrying when so many more appear to be throwing the towel in.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Riversiders67. Yeah I take your point I know people are fed up with the tactics etc but it's worrying when so many more appear to be throwing the towel in. You need to look no further than Venkies for the reason why people are bailing out in droves. I won't be back while they're ruining the club. It's too painful.
Riverside67 Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I will still go becasue I love the club. The trouble is I do not believe anymore as I have had the stuffing knocked out me in the last few years with all the lies. Tom to be fair to Bowyer after Watford he was honest for once that the defence was awful but too many times this season he has been doing a Kean and polishing the t@rd when it was his fault. I know he is learning and the injuries have been terrible but sometimes your patience just runs out, We neded a good run in from Bolton onwards for the rest of the season and his preperation as a manager was diabolical,. We played so many players out of position we effectively threw the game ahead of the Burnley match. Your patience can only take so much and after that I thought stuff it if he is going to manage the team in suach a manner then I cannot be arsed either.
tomphil Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Tyrone: Sorry mate but I don't buy the Venky thing for people staying away now. Thousands have voted with their feet because of them ages ago I'm talking about people who've still been coming the past few seasons now turning it in because we aren't doing much on the pitch. It's poor, other sets of fans stick with it when things aren't going great on the pitch ours seem to turn their backs, same in the 80's. For a club like ours with it's history then it should be better. I might be over critical because if we get crowds next season similar to most of this then fair enough but the signs are not good and it angers me. If I'm prepared to do it as a staunch long term fan then why can't others ? If we are topping the league playing well they'll be here loons or no loons !!
thenodrog Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 His cameo was our favourite bit of of the game, apart from the goals. Surely there is specialist somewhere, who can work with him to keep him fit for another season! We have one on here who is desperate for the gig. I could the same much cheaper .... by putting a lock on his fridge door! I could take the defeat to Burnley but Bowyer's incompetence ahead of the Bolton game switched me off the rest of this season. The Burnden fiasco was a major could not give a toss to 3000 folk who paid good money to see yet another no show. £33 bloody quid!
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 What started out as a boycott due to the lack of respect the ownership and club showed to the fan base has moved on to a feeling of apathy. Also I would imagine that a lot of people have found new hobbies or interests that perhaps they couldn't do or wouldn't have discovered had they kept going to games and that is taking up their free time. Football isn't the be all and end all. And is the situation any better? Apart from Venky's going quiet nothing 'transformational' has happened. The club is still being run badly from top to bottom and is no closer to promotion.
thenodrog Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 You need to look no further than Venkies for the reason why people are bailing out in droves. I won't be back while they're ruining the club. It's too painful.Disagree. I gave up summer 2011 cos of their lies, the stench of Kean, Anderson, the very public (and very convenient) disloyalty to EHD, the disposal of most of the senior management, the two Jones boys, the disgruntle Frenchies etc etc. The Venkymob still own the club (thank goodness cos I really fear for what will happen when they tire of it) ) but have quite obviously had a change of tack, taken a back seat and left the running of the club to 'football people'. The air is much cleaner down at Ewood these days and I'm enjoying the football 'experience' much more now. How long it will last I don't know, what people want tio do with their time and money I don't know either but I do feel a number are now making the venkymob a convenient excuse to stay away.
