[Archived] Rovers v QPR - 8th April, KO: 7.45

Recommended Posts

Very good display from a Rovers team who are beginning to fit together. Lowe allowed Williamson to get forward so I'm not sure he deserves some of the stick he has received.

Bringing Varney and Dunn on meant that we had some fresh legs to chase down QPR defenders - all the team needed to defend as a unit from the front to back and they did that pretty effectively.

Gestede was immense but there was a mass of energy on the pitch wearing Blue and White as opposed to the overpaid Dennis the Menace dressed QPR. Conway has been a great addition. Would love to sign Keane but I think he is destined to return to Old Trafford.

Credit to Bowyer and the coaching staff, we now look solid again and just might chase the sixth spot. It's a tough one as there are so many clubs after it. I just hope QPR crash and burn, they look like we did at our overpaid worst.

Well spotted but apparently lost on some people.

QPR were poor in the game at Loftus Road too, although Austin missed when it was easier to score. Thinking back to that game, Henley was outstanding in containing Hoilett so his loss of form since then is perplexing. Williamson and Lowe had good games that day too.

No one would weep if QPR missed out and failure would surely be the end of Redknapp as a manager.

I was busy Saturday but after tonight the prospect of Sheff Wed away may prompt a change of plans. Rovers have left the charge late but we're in form and anything can happen.

What can I say about that? Where has this been all season?

Best midfield performance I've seen for some time, particularly from Craig Conway, what a player we have there... He absolutely roasted Simpson and made some class runs and passes, I can't praise him enough... Well impressed. Gestede was just unplayable tonight, really gives us something to aim at now, looks like a top player in this league. Fair play to Lowe & Williamson, I've been a BIG critic of but both excellent tonight at breaking up play and very tidy.

Back 4 were good also, Kean and Spurr got forward well. Really refreshing to see us working so hard from the front, I don't know how it's taken Gaz this long to work out the importance of this but at least it seems to have finally sunk in. Everyone played well tonight, really can't fault anyone.

QPR were really poor, certainly not a team worthy of promotion, they looked like a bunch of strangers. I still think we don't close down quick enough in our own half sometimes and because of this we afford teams chances, if we can work on that then we'll be very difficult to break down.

Gestede and Conway have transformed this team, they give us some style and form at least, something thats been missing for some time.

10/10

it was very good display and a game where Rovers played for the full 90 minutes.

Lowe and Williamson worked very well together and Lowe did his job and made some good tackles and allow Williamson to get forward more.

Gestede and Rhodes partnership is developing and looking better game by game.

Cairney, Conway and Gestede were excellent signings and didn't cost us 1 mil for all three players.

Bowyer and his staff deserve a lot of credit and so do the players who have step up a level aswell.

Thought QPR were very poor and struggle to understand why they are in top 6. Redknapp's subs and change of tactics did nothing to impact on the game. really hope they don't go up.

Really looking forward to the Sheff Wed game now on Saturday and I will be there cheering the team on.

COYB!

Gary Bowyer's Blue and white army!

I thought Lowe and Williamson were excellent in midfield tonight and proved beyond a doubt that they can play together and do a decent job. I thought the whole team was excellent and it was probably the best 90 minute performance of the season. Varney proved what a good addition he can be to the squad when he came on and won every ball in the air. In this League you need some grafters and he is a player who will put in a shift. I thought Bowyer got the substitutions spot on with Varney and Dunn bringing fresh legs after the punishment that Rhodes and Gestede took. Etuhu did well when coming on but looked to have pulled a hamstring making that last ditch tackle. Again, he looked like he could yet prove a useful addition to what is looking like a pretty strong squad. Sadly, I think its too late for a play-off push for this season but it really looks promising for next season with a fully fit squad.

Opinion stated as fact.

You remind me of someone but surely banned posters are NOT meant to generate new accounts to circumvent a ban?

Surely by stating as a fact that his opinion is being stated as fact, you are stating your opinion as a fact?

Made my return after missing the last couple of games. Not bad I guess. Atmosphere seemed strange at first........kind of more relaxed, I don't know if that had anything to do with the fact that there's hardly any pressure on us now bearing in mind the season went some time ago for most fans - though could also have been partly due to it being the first evening game to kick-off in daylight too.

Best players tonight; Gestede, Conway and Spurr. I would have given Conway MOTM - though to stop it becoming a foregone conclusion I guess Rudy got the nod. Their best player was probably that money grabber that used to play for us - though I forgot his name - whoever he is he looked better than that future England star Ravel Morrison (who?) that was supposed to tear us apart tonight. He was like a monster in my pocket for most of the game.

Our first goal reminded me a bit of 'Bournemouth's?' goal against us - probably as I was sat in exactly the same place tonight as on that fatefully shocking night and also that it was bottom right hand corner from distance with an unagile keeper sack of spudding unsuccessfully across. Second one was quality from too good for England's no.2 keeper, haha. Though you have to buy a ticket if you want to win the lottery (yawn).

Was as convincing a win as it could have been tonight. QPR looked bright at times but ultimately played like a team that is waiting for the play-offs - (though we should also have beat them at their place too) - adding further weight to the argument that the league as a whole is pretty crap - or perhaps we're better than most people think? They only seemed to have one decent spell from around 65-70 minutes were they slightly got on top -but due to some decent defending from us and a slice of luck they failed to score and ultimately fizzled out. Other than that I thought we were mostly on top the whole game.

We even managed to string upwards of 20 passes together at one point - I was genuinely gob-smacked.

We're one of several teams that are bunching up for a crack at 6th spot (yes STILL lol). Though realistically we'd have to win all of our remaining games - and hope. Still it's good to have hope....................

How strange that Lowe doesn't feature in a single action shot.

who cares tbh? excellent performance last night..everybody played their part in the game..

Lowe made some good tackles and cover the full backs well when they went forward

QPR looked strangely demotivated to me. Nevertheless some of their moves thorugh our midfiled cut through us too easliy at times.

I am afraid the Lowe Williamson partnership will never inspire me but fair enough last night the whole team played well or were perhaps allowed to.

GB singled himself out for praise by proxy to justify his own team selection.

Awful footballer. Cairney and Williamson had to work at 150% to compensate.

Opposition watching, non-tackling, water carrier whose only attributes are covering ground and staring at the ball as it arrives at the oppositions feet. May have a future as a man-marker. Or an actual water carrier.

Since coming back from injury Lowe has a 100% record. Over a season that would have seen us promoted ;-)

It's got to that hasn't it! You always want to lay blame at people's doors and the way you "gave bowyer 8/10" was the most cringeworthy thing I've read in years.

Again, last night and this morning shows that a few of our fans would sooner see us fail - to justify there own opinion that X is @#/?.

Proudtobeblueandwhite - you went to the game right? 20+ posts between 7:45 - 9:30, so how much of the game did you even watch?

Went to the game, impressed with our team compared to our Harries lads.

We didn't have the best of starts to the season, but I think GB has the roots of a tean that is beginning to gel.

Too late for the playoffs, but next year, we should be in the mix.

Good luck to Burnley btw :glare:

Morning Bowyer posse. Pass on my regards to Gaz won't you.

I used to think Team GB meant Rovers but it's actually Gaz, Parson, Chaddy and JBizzle.

Your bitter and twisted, who could blame you!

He features precisely the same number of times as Rhodes ^_^ Once, in the goal celebrations.

Get rid of both I say. If they can't even be arsed to get themselves into an 'action shot' then what is the bloody point in them!

Who are those sad feckers that actually think that football is a definite and that some equation that they have devised means success and anything that doesnt satisfy their theory is doomed, even after it proves itself successful.

Sad little people who have no grip with the uncertainty and ever changing dynamics of the real world and real sport.

2-0=3pts, well done all
