Majiball Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 ANOTHER missed opportunity. A fitting epitaph for our season. Disappointing. When ever we need to step up and get a result we fall.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 12, 2014 Moderation Lead Posted April 12, 2014 Not a good enough result and it's not the first time this season. Brighton and Ipswich both needed to grind out wins today, and guess what they did. Infuriating. This lot just let you down time and time again. If you can't hold a 3-1 lead at this stage of the season you don't deserve to be anywhere near the play-offs.
AllRoverAsia Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I lost sound from Radio Rovers - it must have been just before Sheff Wed equalised (had to revert to BBC text). Even that piece of crap can't play till the end of a match - how fecking fitting.
Stuart Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Where would we be if we hadn't thrown so many leads away though? Above Bumley.
broadsword Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Thenodrog had it right. Supporting this club is a cycle of elevated hopes followed by massive deflation just as we begin to make it look easy. It's going to be an interesting summer
Backroom Tom Posted April 12, 2014 Backroom Posted April 12, 2014 I won't blame bowyer as it didn't sound like we sat back but was our first sub Varney for Rhodes in injury time?
LDRover Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Mentality is a huge thing in any sport. Unfortunately we're sadly lacking in that department.
booth Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 How many times has this happened. I said when we were 3-1 up that we'd probably concede one second half then sit back at 3-2 and concede another in the last few minutes. So predictable.
thenodrog Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Where would we be if we hadn't thrown so many leads away though?. Spineless performances have happened far too often and will probably continue next season under Bowyer.Ask fans of Watford, West Brom etc. Happens regularly.
Roverthechimp Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Pity - but for a bad choice from a good player we would have been 4-2 up. Still can't call the manager negative when we score 3 away and have 18 attempts.
Leonard Venkhater Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Not a good enough result and it's not the first time this season. Brighton and Ipswich both needed to grind out wins today, and guess what they did. Infuriating. This lot just let you down time and time again. If you can't hold a 3-1 lead at this stage of the season you don't deserve to be anywhere near the play-offs. Definite pattern. Certainly, no coincidence, this deja vu stuff.S***t!
Devon Rover Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 When you're just waiting for the equaliser you know something is inherently wrong This is the thing for me. When Weds got their 2nd I felt an expectation that we were going to concede again. Put this Rovers team under pressure and they crumble. No leadership to drive the team forward when the pressure is on, no backbone to this group. It'll be the same again next season unless we can bring in some leaders.
scrumpyblue Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Three one up at half time & GB's tactical genius :red_card:blows another lead. How many times do we have to suffer this For pity's' sake, we are not the Arsenal of the 80's, we can not defend a lead, so for crying out loud stop trying to do so COYB
West Yorks Rover Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 1 sub used in the 92 min, I can't think of another manager who would do that, apart from Mr Kean of course. It's a squad game after all.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 12, 2014 Moderation Lead Posted April 12, 2014 Surprised nobody has mentioned 'stability' yet. (Obviously not when talking about our defending, which is about as stable as a greenhouse in a hurricane).
West Yorks Rover Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Pity - but for a bad choice from a good player we would have been 4-2 up. Still can't call the manager negative when we score 3 away and have 18 attempts. We can blame him for not using any fresh legs though, he never seems to learn about subs.
chaddyrovers Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Keane mistake that cos Rovers a much deserve win. Clearly the better team. should have played it long instead of short pass. Very good touch by Bowyer at the end of the game coming over to the fans to thanks us for our great support today. we never said stop signing all game mistakes by players cost us today. nothing to do with the manager. im sure thats some fans blame the manager but clearly not. Sheff Wed second goal, the ball clearly out. ref was again shocking. not good enough to give the right and clear decisions.
broadsword Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I'm getting deja vu with regards to the sup appearance money conspiracy
Guest Norbert Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 We need a new manager who can take this good squad and make them organised and able to hold a lead. Bowyer gave us breathing space, but we needed really get a run going since the new year. We didn't, and have thrown away many good leads or only turned up after getting nobbed in the 1st half. Thank you for your efforts Gary, but someone new and better needs to be given a chance.
Hasta Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Well that's another target crossed off my season wish list. Not much left to look forward to now :-( Winning the Championship Getting automatic promotion Avoiding defeat against Burnley Reaching the Play Offs Appointing an experienced manager Making sure Jason Lowe is not a mainstay of the team this season Trying to **** Wigan's season up at Ewood on the final day.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 A couple of clean sheets had papered over the cracks, this defence has been prone all season to conceding goals when under just a slight whiff of pressure. Only way they get in now is if Rovers win out and results go their way for the remaining games. It has happened before but the chances are remote looking at some of the easier run-ins teams above them have.
Leonard Venkhater Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 We can blame him for not using any fresh legs though, he never seems to learn about subs. Kevin Gallacher said it would be dangerous to use a sub when Wednesday were going for it 15 min from the end....Is this mentality thing is about lack of leadership on the field?
chaddyrovers Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 i like the way that everyone blame Bowyer but players mistakes cos us. not the manager. Most fans at the game will say this. now on the coach home now. disappointed but remaining positive. Bowyer is still the right manager for us. still unbeaten in 8 games. ;-)
Husky Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Trying to **** Wigan's season up at Ewood on the final day. I'll probably only go if they have something to play for. Otherwise it will be a dead rubber and I don't wanna be fake clapping another largely poor season and dream it's gonna be better next season.
