[Archived] Rovers vs Yeovil - Good Friday

Very similar. Everyone was looking for a reaction to a setback in the previous game and got nothing.

Bournemouth probably just edged it as worse due to the freezing cold and dark evening that consumed it.

At least today was a pleasant walk to and from the ground.

I'd say that Charlton game was the worst this season partly because it was one of the most unpleasant walks that I have ever had back to the car. At least today was a lovely day.

Um, so this was close to rivalling the worst game in footballing history. I'm glad I had other plans in the sunshine, or I might have been extremely angry.

Gotta take what you can I guess.

Though something like "at least it was a pleasant walk for the fans" - does sound like straws a certain Scottish Sultan might clutch at.

Just got back, very disappointed , awful is an understatement ,

However after reading this thread and hearing the post match analysis from Bowyer , lm livid

How many chances have we blown to take that final play off place ????

It seems every week the results go our way apart from our own .

I'm sick of reading the word stability , before the loons came in we was a steady premiership club ,

We are now a championship club being managed by the youth team coach .

There is fine margins in football,

On paper we have a decent squad and credit must go to Bowyer for bringing some good young talent into rovers .

Problem is , you could have the best squad in England but if you dont have a manager on the side line who is tactically astute then you are handicapped before you kick the ball .

There was some boos at full time and as paying customers I can understand why , because today the fine margin of having a coach over a manager shined right through. Most supporters just left Ewood in silence like they was passing a coffin .

As for Venky's , they have zero excuse for not attending , we play every week , the queens visit has been planned for ages , and no other meeting could be more important than Venky's largest investment and drain on resources .

There ownership is nothing short of a shambles , the only things different now from what it was three years ago , is they or their associates ain't making stupid statements , we have parted company with our valuable players , and we are deep in debt , everything else is the same , right upto we are still managed by a coach and have imbalanced board of directors

I used to think that we have a very languid style of play with no urgency but at worst lazy which is very frustrating. But today as the game went on I think its just that we are unfit as a team as most were blowing out of their arse by the end and it wasn't like they put in any effort to make them so.

Whether bowyer continues on to the next season or not the first thing on my list would be a fitness coach. My hopes are we thank bowyer for his role, move him down the ranks and get an experienced manager in.

On today's display with few more on the gate with it being bank holiday can't see any of them rushing back for that rubbish.

For those of you that attended the Bournemouth home game AND this game. How did it compare?

I compared the 2 games part way through the 2nd half and decided that Bournemouth was worse based on the fact we lost and it was freezing cold.

I expected so much more from today. None of the players played like they were fighting in a 'cup final' .. Most looked like they couldn't be bothered . Putting aside tactics- they should've been up for it today and they clearly weren't . Why not?

We were talking before the game about going on Monday - cheap tickets and all that.. Not anymore.. If they can't be arsed to turn up and put a shift in then why should I bother ?

As for Bowyer slating the fans .. Cheeky @&£" .. He should be slating the players that get paid a fortune and basically didn't turn up today.

I wont be rushing back and I have season ticket!

Still can't believe the nerve of Bowyer to have a pop at the fans. If it's an us and them mentality then he certainly seems to have chosen his side. The fans backed the team throughout, trying to urge the team forward at every opportunity. I suppose it was our fault that the players were unmotivated and we should be grateful for a 0-0 bore draw when the play-offs were firmly in sight.

As I said earlier, only Robbo (until he opened his gob post match) and Hanley showed any urgency today. The rest were so poor in possession, so content just to do nothing. I really do despair and Mr Negativity has done absolutely nothing to get a few more bums on seats for next season. Quite the opposite. Maybe we'll aim for 9th next season if we're lucky?! Or perhaps Bowyer can give his points target for each match in the pre-game presser. At least then we could pick and choose our matches. A bit like him and the players.

I like that last bit - playing bottom of the league, we're going for it. But this is our toughest game, so I want a full ground.... Quid a ticket, let's intimidate the opposition!

Well that was truly pathetic. Sat on the m6 for 4 hours to get there and watch that drivel.

The lack of effort was astounding, as was the obvious lack of any tactical ideas.

Surely they knew the other scores? At 1 point rovers were only out of 6th place by goal difference. If that isn't enough to motivate then god help us all.

We need to avoid the playoffs this season anyway imo, we are nowhere near premier standard.

New manager please. Cheers Gary for steadying the ship, now time to step aside.

Rhodes played for any other team in top half at home to Yeovil he is filling his boots today it just never happens with this manager though, any other manager at this level must do the team sheet write out a back 4 then go how do the next 5 names I include absolutely maximise our best asset instead we get 2 sitting midfielders when at this level you really don't even need 1 just someone like evans with a bit of everything and a cairney to keep the oppo on back foot.

One of the most annoying things is today should have been the easiest half time team talk of Bowyers career yet we came out in the second half just as disinterested

I genuinely think he may have promised a top half finish and is petrified of letting it slip

If that was the case Tom he could have seen the opportunity before Christmas to significantly over achieve. We should have @#/? the play off places.

Self preservation of his contract first and foremost I suspect, possibly yet another parasite but he's a nice guy.

You may have hit the nail on the head.

Even Robinson said they'd been told to make sure they kept the point today towards the end.

Definitely seems that way.

Never understood the calls for a top 10 finish anyway. That's only 2 wins off the playoffs in a 46 game season. Most teams in this league will be vying for a playoff spot and rightly so.

The only reason I believe it is because with just 3 games left I don't see how a point is much better than 0 if we want to make the playoffs, even in the last few seconds on corners we didn't look in a rush

Just got in and not had time to read any of the other post match comments.

Today was pathetic from the players, they looked like they were on their hols a few weeks early and couldn't care less about any remote possibility of reaching the play offs. The attitude was summed up for me when deep into 3 minutes of injury time when we won a corner, no-one could even be bothered coming over to take it. That's how much the result obviously meant to everyone today.

All this after reading a piece pre match in the LT from Jason Lowe proclaiming that we had 4 "Cup Finals" left and should treat them as such. Yeah right. Though to be fair to him he is far from on his own from making bold statements in the paper and then completely failing to back them up on the pitch.

Simply not good enough.

I feel we might grab a draw in this one, it's one of our 'strengths'. Expect our famous midfield double act to be at their stand off best on the long good Friday :)

The top 10 finish makes no sense.

It's probably true.

From Bowyer's point of view it does:-

Last season ....avoid relegation

This season.....Top 10

Next Season.....Play offs & lose

Season After Next.....Play Offs

Next Season.......

By addining another line in there he can claim to the loons that progress has been achieved without technically achieving a great deal. Next season can be the same and so on. It gives him job security without achieving a great deal. If the loons are happy with that then they are obviously haven't learnt a thing about football. Anybody could see that this season the play offs have been achievable but the fact that Rovers now look like that they are failing to get there means that this squad and Bowyer has underachieved.

As the match yesterday had zero watchability, I've nothing to say about it.

Yesterday's Man of the MAtch.........Brian Dabo.
