Just following on from the Hanley discussion. Yann Songo'o has been on loan up here at Ross County since January and he's been very impressive. He's the same age as Hanley and looks quite a class act. Admittedly the Scottish Premiership is the same or lower standard than the Championship, but he may get a chance next season.

Forgot to say Jordan Slew was man of the match up here yesterday ! Can't seem to score goals but he's quite a handful for defenders.

Thanks for that information. I looked at the match report of Ross County v Kilmarnock and noticed both were mentioned.

It's always nice to get feedback on loaned out players from someone who goes to the games.

This is where Bowyer gets minus points for me, and demonstrates his negative mindset.

When Lowe is fit, he will break up this partnership without even thinking about it. Evans can break up play, whereas Lowe will simply run and not commit to a tackle. Evans or Williamson do a far better job. Cairney can control a game from the centre but Cairney will be shifted out wide to accommodate Lowe. It's infuriating.

I don't have as negative a view of Lowe as you. However - irrespective of that - how often has Evans been fully fit this season - and importantly with two wingers on form at the same time. I would say that the weekend was the first time.

I don't have a hatred of Lowe, far from it but I just don't really rate him. He's a very good squad man and that's what he should be when most are fit. looking at the team on Sat then it's getting very close to our best starting 11 I feel and that's what we have to go with from the off next season if they're still here. If GB constantly chops and changes to accommodate Lowey, which it's undeniable he has done, then it'll haunt him very quickly next season if we aren't winning regularly. If he shows strong leadership and plays the right people constantly instead of his favs then he's getting to grips with real management and it should be happy days !

Keep hearing this about Lowe - and how GB favours him. I stand to be corrected - but I don't think we have ever been in the position we have in the last couple of matches - with Evans and Cairney both fit - and two wingers in form at the same time. Also - it has only been during this recent run that we seem to have abandoned the 4-5-1 formation. Lets wait until next season - with hopefully everyone fit - to see how much GB favours certain players. Given the long Championship season - and the way certain teams play - there will be occasions when Lowe should start and others (like at the weekend) when we really go for it with Evans and Cairney in the middle.

So, back in Sweden after a weekend in London, where the higlight ofcourse was Charlton vs Rovers. I thought we played well, even though Charlton were very poor. Must say the best players for me were Conway and Gestede. Conway in particular impressed me, always creative and things just seemed to happen when he has the ball. Gestede is a monster, winning everything in the air. All in all a great team effort as well, we could have score more than 3 goals.

I completely agree with tomphil. I guess we will find out next season.

That's if we can hang on to Lowe over the Summer.

What if Lowe persistently outperforms Cairney and Evans in training next season?

How many points do you get without training?

It's just a question, and one that might confront Bowyer each week. Although we've already decided he's not improving as a manager if he does pick him.

Since it's the discussion, regardless of Lowe's quality - for a different look at a situation, how would any team fare with more players with the kind of work ethic Jason puts in?

It's indisputable that he covers every yard of grass, works his arse off and puts his body on the line. It's also conceivable that he doesn't have the quality to go with this, but forgetting that- I think a team always benefits from workhorses on different levels.

Ofcourse a real quality player has a professional attitude of Scholes, an engine like Ronaldo and the touch of Tugay- but I personally never underestimate hard working type players.

Conway is another example of a player who works his arse off- and the bit of quality he has in his boots is magnified by the way he forces his impact on a game.

We've had a few down the years, Roberts was especially a hardworking handful for defences and worked pretty well with McCarthy's and Santa Cruz's technical quality and reading of a game. Funny how Jason Roberts got slated down the years (by myself included) for not hitting the back if the net!

Never questioned his athleticism. He's probably the best athlete at the club, IMHO.

The trouble is he'd be a greater asset to Blackburn Harriers than Blackburn Rovers.

I didn't just mean athleticism I said work ethic, some of the aforementioned mixed in with the will to put graft in for 90 mins!

It's easy to see that GBs gone out his way to bring in players with these qualities- and I think we are seeing why- it's very important at this level.

I have no objection to Lowe, per se. However, you have to ask yourself whether Cairney & Evans would've started together vs. Charlton had Lowe been available? Almost certainly not, would be the answer, and that's the crux of the matter. Clearly, Bowyer feels that Lowe is some kind of midfield lynchpin who should walk straight back into the first XI. I think Bowyer has a blindspot when it comes to Lowe, overvalues his work ethic whilst not acknowledging his limitations. For a team that needs to be on the front-foot in this league, Lowe shouldn't be the first name on the team sheet week in, week out.

You or may not be right about GB favouring Lowe - but in reality what do you base this on ? Until recently we haven't had a team with two wingers in form - and importantly both Cairney and Evans fit ?

It's based on Bowyer's selection EVERY TIME Lowe has been fit.

Which part of this concept are people struggling with?

Your arguments are now bordering on stupidity Stuart. You are doing yourself no favours with this constant and irrational persecution of a solid squad member. Has he run off with your missus or something?

Why don't all of you put your comments in a Jason Lowe thread?

I came on here to find out more about people's views on the Charlton v Rovers game and, instead, had to go through the Lowe for and against arguments.

If he was a 'solid squad member' I'd be delirious.

You and I both know he's a first team stalwart under Bowyer, so why the childish sniping at me?

Again.

Oops.

Less of the vitriol, me old mucker.

Let's wait and see what happens next before crowing about how great me, Am'o and one or two others are though, eh?. ;)

It's not gone unnoticed though how well we've played with Evans and Cairney in the centre.

Good players both although both do have weaknesses of their own BUT its obviously gone unnoticed by you how many matches those two have missed through injury this season. I get the feeling that you would rather see us turn out with 10!

We have had many problems this season from long term injury to key players, poor refereeing decisions, poor discipline, lack of leadership, poor tactics and a striker that can't/won't even attempt to hold the ball up, Lowe is not guilty of any of them. He may be no worldie but your attempts to scapegoat him for everything are reprehensible. Your opinion is one of constant sniping and IMO based on simple vindication.
