[Archived] Rovers vs Wigan

Recommended Posts

The way they both (hanley and Killy) have the impression that they're Beckenbauer and Moore all of a sudden is a bit of a concern. Their distribution was awful!

This again links to the way our midfield is outnumbered and Franz and bobby feel they have to dribble the ball out.

Wigan's first goal was so weak a wet paper bag on the line would have kept it out. There have been several of those types of goals at Ewood this season.

Once aain, there was barely a murmur from the home crowd, whether through expectation, apathy or sheer awe at such a poor goal.

That`s what happens when all of the "supporters" with opinions stay away.

A man on the back post would have stopped that goal. A simple time honoured tactic that so many seem to reject these days. I wonder what they teach em at coaching school these days.

Basic tactics at crucial times whilst defending seem to be something that Rovers seem to lack. Another is closing players down when they are about to shoot from distance. Both should be drilled into the team especially as corners and long distance shops Robbo is weak on.

indeed so, we parted like the red sea for Wigan's second goal.

  • Moderation Lead

Nothing will change next season with the same management team and pisspoor players such as Lowe/Henley/Williamson.

None of whom played yesterday...

Can't believe the negativity. After the years of chaos and instability we finally get a reasonable season under our belts with some positive steps taken on and off the pitch, and supporters want to change the manager. Haven't people learnt? GB is far from perfect but look at how badly Venkys have hired in the past. Kean, Appleton, Berg..? Suddenly there seems to be a whole lot of faith in Venkys hiring a top quality manager to replace Bowyer - it wouldn't happen.

In any case do we really need to destabilise the club yet again after all we've been through just because Bowyer likes to play Lowe and Williamson in midfield?

A better manager may have taken us further? Probably.

Would a better manager come to Rovers? Unlikely.

Would Venkys actually realise a better manager if they saw one?

Not a damn chance.

Another in a long line of posts which assumed no debt and infinite time...

I appreciate that you feel people may overlook those factors, but the first has already been improved tenfold by GB. Players such as Cairney and Gestede should make this club millions. I'd prefer to give him a chance to find a few more of that ilk, rather than clear out a load more staff, sign another manager (6th perm in 4 years) and roll the dice again.

We might not be getting straight sixes currently with GB, but he certainly is no snake eyes.

We would make many more millions if we got back to the Prem.

Can Bowyer and his coaching staff deliver that next season? I think it's unlikely

2 points off the playoff spots this season isn't really bad. Last season we were reliefed that we weren't relegated. I would stick with bowyer one more season without any doubts. He deserves it as well.

What do some of you want, 2 or 3 years ago we where in a right mess, toxic atmosphere, fans fighting each other, protest marches, another demotion looking a real possibility, pure negativity everywhere, now we are at least on the up, some great signings, Shebby gone, owners quiet, just missed play offs, good young team, two great strikers, ended 12 unbeaten, being entertained and we are now looking up again instead of down for the first time in years, but reading this board that's still not good enough, if we would have made play offs or even have gone up automatically this board would be full of "we will come straight back down", try enjoying supporting them, its the first time in years we have been able to!!!!!!

You're right, it isn't really bad but it isn't really good either and nothing I've seen at any point of this season suggests that Gary Bowyer & co can get us up next season.

I expect him to have a similar season again.

We can win the premier league and I won't accept the VENKYSCUM

I concur, too much water under the bridge, even getting rovers back into the premiership, they would still be in minus points, maybe winning the champions league, they might get back to parity as far as im concerned
