No, the players are self motivated for games like this. It's a one off chance for glory. They play for professional pride, to put themselves in the shop window, to match supposedly far more talented players and show that they too have some skill. The result only matters fleetingly - it's not the routine bread and butter fare of every week when you're playing against less able but well drilled teams. And it's an occasion, a stage to play on and they want to play the heroes. It's like doing amateur dramatics. You rehearse and rehearse and the director despairs of ever getting the Performance from his cast that he knows they can produce, then in costume on stage with the lspotlight on you and an audience everyone lifts and you all achieve. Cup football is all about here and now and not about league position or form.

If the players can get themselves motivated for a big game like this, why not in the league ?

And if Bowyer got it right yesterday, has he done so right through the season but the players cannot be bothered or are unable to put his game plan into action ?

If you spoke to the Rovers squad 2 weeks ago and asked them what the biggest game of the season was, if anyone answered with anything other than "the next one" it tells you all you need to know, not only about their attitude but also what's drilled into them by the manager/coaches.

Looking forward to the replay, although that fixture pile up is ridiculous!

Easter Saturday 4th April - Leeds (a)

Easter Monday 6th April - Millwall (h)

Wednesday 8th April - Liverpool (h)

Saturday 11th April - Reading (a)

4 games in 7 days!

That said, with our position in the league (mid table safety) I'd hope we play the kids/reserves against Millwall.

The replay is our season!

Incidentally Liverpool go to The Emirates on Easter Saturday, but have no game Easter Monday and then play Newcastle the following Monday (13th April)

How very convenient for Liverpool

One game over Easter. That's cr@p.

Easter used to be great with games on Friday, Saturday and Monday.

You serious with a replay against Liverpool on the Wednesday.

better ask Bolton fans or Neil Lennon, they got a draw at Anfield and have been battered away from home ever since.

Not that it means much but the Milwall game isn't being played on the Monday anymore

When you think last 5 games versus premier league sides we have had a draw and loss versus City, a win v Swansea and Stoke and a draw at Liverpool.

Not at all bad.

It's actually better than that, bearing in mind that the PL team we played before that was Arsenal - we have had three wins, two draws and a defeat in the last 6.

And we still have a chance of extending our record for having an opposition player sent off in the last 5 FA cup ties.

Beat Liverpool and its a great chance to make the final as Villa aren't exactly brilliant (no arsenal or chelsea this time). Best chance we've had to make the final in my lifetime. So sad and sickening that it would involve 'that lot' sharing the dream.

If I was GB I would let this game take prededence over all the remaining fixture list fulfillers between now and Easter.

Expect PL managers to be looking at what Rudi can do and coming in with bids this summer. He's a far better bet than Rhodes cos he has something that most teams don't have, I.e. Power in the air. Great effort from our lads today and superb support.

'Physical presence' is a better description of gestede's strengths and jordan Rhodes weakness.

Seems there is no pleasing some folk.

I commented on the mess on the pavements too. Disgraceful on route from Goodson to Anfield.

Are you sure it was dogs?

Quite right. Unfortunately it is a psychological constant running through virtually every club at every level of football. Solve that Jim and you will be close to solving the mysteries of the universe.

I think you will be pleased quite soon - a lot of Championship clubs, those actually interested in getting to the PL, are after Rhodes and Sheffied Wednesday now have the cash and owners who will spend. Who will you moan about then?

Rather quick to jump in there. Which part of my opinion did you disagree with and why?

The latest one was the most recent -'' 'Physical presence' is a better description of gestede's strengths and jordan Rhodes weakness.''.

Actually not too much in itself but part of a long and protracted criticism of Rhodes.

I do however agree that Rhodes is not blessed with natural pace - if he did, as has been said by others including no doubt your good-self, then he would be in playing at a higher level already. What he does have is a born strikers eye for goal which Bowyer's tactics have consistently failed to utilise.

Doubt it but going of recent crowds I'd say anything above 23k is a good effort. Probably around 15/16k home fans I would think.

All sorts of variables....

Presume we will have to give them the DE, so 7,000 Scousers.

Price.....should hopefully keep it real, £20-25 adult.

Is it not half-term, so kids for a quid?

I think with sensible pricing, 25,000, but of course we'll be on TV, so could be less.....

13 in total if were being more precise. And if you think we don't deserve it, try doing the job. Our caretaker used to think teachers had it easy until he came to work in a school. All jobs have their good and bad points. Many jobs are harder than teaching in many ways but it's the only job I can think of where if you don't do at least 2 hours a night at home and work most of Sunday and probably half of Saturday too even though you're not at work, you feel guilty and can't keep up with the job.

As I said abs. There are far worse jobs than teaching. But using the holiday thing to beat teachers with isn't on. It's not just us who get the hols. The kids get them too. You can't learn without breaks. They get shattered and then they can't learn. They need time for their brains to relax and absorb the stuff they are learning. And those hols never come at a time when you want them. You have to take them when they say. No choice. No negotiating a day off unless it's for a funeral or a hospital appointment. But I digress. If you've never tried teaching, or don't have a relative who does it, you probably won't get what's so tiring about the job. I wouldn't swap my job but I do find it hard to show people just why it's not easy
