If he can get that level of commitment and attitude from this team maybe next season will be worth looking forward to?

Unfortunately we won't be playing every game next season against teams in the division above, so the players won't be self-motivated and Bowyer hasn't been able to get them up for the less glamorous games against the likes of Millwall and Blackpool. Tactically we're also found wanting against teams on our level.

It's nice that Gary has the ability to set us up against teams that are vastly superior and push a very high line from the off, but unless we learn how to play well against the teams around us and break down defensive sides we'll continue to struggle.

But all that is a concern for next season. This season the only thing we have left is the cup and we seem to know how to play effectively against PL teams.

So many have said 'feel proud to be a Rover' since game ended.

Feels like old times, at least for today.

Why bring it up ? Because it's so bloody frustrating to be where we are when you see what this squad of players is capable of.

I completely agree. But we all know that the league campaign has been a disappointment and today should just be about enjoying the result. No need for the negativity. There have been very few days like this over the past couple of years so lets just enjoy it.

Don't worry, will enjoy !

Got a bottle of 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Etienne Gonnet as a Christmas gift and this very fine wine will soon be uncorked !

Just got back. Yes I echo the sentiments, and it was a fantastic feeling walking back to the car and knowing your team had given their all.

Defence were immense, thought Williamson touched every blade of grass, Tom played best game for a while, and Rudy mixed it big time.

Fans were magnificent - I do hope the Loons made notes.

Bring on the replay - well done Rovers!

Should give King time to make a recover . Would fancy him to score a

Couple if Liverpool want to play 3 at the the back again.

That was the only thing that was missing from a tremendous effort from the whole team - if we had King's pace we could have potentially won the match (though a draw was a fair result)

I asked for the sweat to be wrung out of the shirts at full time and today by and large I got that. I couldn't really fault the effort or level of commitment. That's all I ever expect. The whole defence was first class, especially the two centre backs- they were Trojans. Rudy up front won every single challenge in the air, he was dominant up there with minimal service. The midfield was busy without ever really taking the game to the opposition. That's going to be the problem for the replay but tonight we can back in the glory of a great away draw.

I thought Cairney was a disappointment playing behind Rudy, he's got the werewithal to be the next Berkovic but without the desire and self belief he's just a peripheral player.

I thought Liverpool huffed and puffed a lot but they never looked like blowing our house down. They seemed lack a cutting edge. Their main tactic was falling over in dangerous positions to get a free kick.

Really enjoyed today's performance and the players gave 100% today.

Bowyer got his tactics spot on and the defensive set up were excellent.

For me, Kilgallon and Baptiste were outstanding. Evans and Williamson protect the back four very good.

Gestede caused problems for the Liverpool defence in the first half.

you can see why Rhodes didn't start the game or didn't come on either

so Proud to be a Rovers fan today

We made a lot of extra money today after that performance.

250k in tv money for the replay.

X amount from gate receipts at Ewood (presumably we'll get a full house).

Gestede adding 2-3m to his price tag. Showed he can easily ruffle the feathers of prem defenders.

I actually think we will beat them at Ewood, especially if King is back. They've got Utd in the same week which could potentially be pivotal in the chase for champs lge, so they may rest a few and be distracted by the Utd game.

This FA cup run could go along way in lifting FFP in the summer (prize money + added value gestede has added to price tag).

Give Killa new deal, sign Baptiste permanently, sell Hanley, sign a RB, and we suddenly have a good defence.

fantastic performance and result. Bowyer was tactically spot on, hope he does the same for the replay with a fit-again King to come on late to nick it! The players were immense, as were the fans.

Good bit of money made again, and more to follow in the replay to help with FFP.

Aye, it was a shame we didn't have King available as an option. Rhodes wouldn't have helped at all with the game as it was, so we really had no choice but to keep Gestede on and hope for a flick on.

Man of the match went to Tom Cairney

Odd choice. I didn't think Cairney was especially effective. It would have been either Baptiste or Gestede for me.

Watched the game on tv here in Canada. Prayed that we would at least get a draw. When they said only one minute if extra time then knew that the Rovers had a great chance. The replay should be very interesting. Get past the Reds and and only one win away from a Cup Final. Wow!!

Great game. Great result. Lads should be confident.

Demonstrated an appalling lack of fitness today though, outstanding for 45 mins then after 55 so spent he could hardly move.

I'm not sure it was so much a lack of fitness as Rudy barely seeing any of the ball. For the vast majority of those post-55 minutes we were pinned back into our own half and Gestede was left up top by himself to battle for some pretty hopeless long balls. He got back to defend throughout that time and had a role in both of our brief counter attacks in the second half.

Just had my tea (beef with noodles) after returning from rat land.

I really enjoyed today. Fans in great form and super performances including from Baptits, Kilgannon, Henley and Ollsen.

Pity Gestede is not as good with his feet as he is in the air; he could make a decent player if he improved his passing (ie. to our players).

All in all a grand day out.

I don't think the guy's a natural athlete. Lacks any sort of pace and his distribution is a bit hit and miss. Having said that he kept Liverpool busy especially in the first half. He did his best without much service. Being honest if he wasn't such a good header of the ball he'd being playing at a lower level.
