Every Rovers team I've ever watched has had bad runs with no obvious cause. Even the omnipotent Allardyce went nine without a win, pressure of pushing for 12th I imagine.

When we crumbled under pressure it was never due to getting into contention in November, it was the real pressure of staying in it from March onwards. In my very first season in the late Sixties, we were in and around the top two till now then finished eighth. We perennially crumbled about now during most of the eighties and, of course, we had the six losses on the trot in the promotion year and the losses home to Man City and away to West Ham in the title winning season run in.

Plus, if it really was pressure then that speaks a lot more about the players than it does the manager. Not what one would expect of a squad that apparently would walk into the top 6 under any other manager.

Personally I thought our bad form this year coincided with the manager being particulalrly indecisive on his formation and best players, combined with an obvious loss of form in previously key players such as Cairney, Marshall and Conway plus a shaky goalie.

Even the omnipotent Allardyce went nine without a win, pressure of pushing for 12th I imagine - Ahhhhh PREMIERSHIP days and managed by an established and proven MANAGER , what fond memories........................................a far cry from the stale biscuits and lukewarm tea of today.

I really wish people on here would stop trying to rewrite history. PREMIERSHIP is not the Championship, which the above infers.

Bowyer is now the 4th longest serving mananger in the Champioship behind just Steve Evans/Rotherham, Eddie Howe/Bournemouth and Mick McCarthy/Ipswich. Its good to be so rewarded for stability - in Bowyer's case.

promotion hopefuls? crowd pressure? when was this? most of the haters had written this season off before it started, now you're saying the team were only written off after we drew with Blackpool and that before then you all had us nailed on promotion certs? Extra 'hater' points for bringing up Yeovil again from last season though, yet conveniently forgetting all the good results we've had :-)

You've still not answered me on how many games you've been on this season? If the players are cracking under the pressure and not performing well as a result this would be evident on the pitch. I can't say i've seen the evidence but you may know better?

Now you're just lying. Nobody had written this season off before it started and people were behind GB up to that point. It's turgid @#/? we've witnessed since that turned people against him. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, whichever side of the fence you fall on, but don't make @#/? up.

Nonsense. People were writing off this season last summer. This MB was full of em, 'we'll never go up under GB', 'he's a bib and cone man' 'we'll never make the play-offs' 'Bowyer out' 'stability' 'Gb's bought rubbish players' etc etc.

it has been turgid for the most. Some great results recently though. i accept your apology in advance for calling me a liar :-)

You won't get one because you're still lying. People were behind him after the run at the end of last season and a decent start. But he was (and still is) making the same mistakes as he has made all last season. Just because people had reservations, doesn't mean they weren't behind him. The Bowyer Out sentiment didn't start until around Christmas / New Year, when it became obvious that Bowyer wasn't up to getting us up still and that became worse when he started talking to Pune in his interviews ala Kean. Even the likes of Chaddy, Kamy, Genn openly said it was pretty much the end of the road for him and they are some of his biggest supporters. Dig out the Predictions thread from the beginning of the season and you'll see most were predicting us to finish top 6, or even top 2. So again, noone was writing this season off last Summer - hence you're lying.

Some posters have been on Bowyer's back since day one. ( I speak as somebody who said he should go after the early season Norwich and Wolves defeats)

Having a different opinion than yours doesn't constitute lying by the way.

LOL, the 'bowyer out' sentiments happened ALL last season and this. Trying to say they didn't makes you look a fool, especially when you persist in calling me a liar.

Pray tell me how Bowyer has taken us up ..or close to it . This should be good manipulation at its finest.

Again, you're being economical with the truth. It didn't happen all last season at all. Just when it became apparent that he wasn't going to take us up and that he didn't appear to be learning from his mistakes. The season prediction thread seems to have been lost with the forum problems, but I remember most people saying that if Bowyer had started to learn from last season's mistakes and we could keep up the form from the end of last season, then we would be in for a top 6 / top 2 finish. The mood turned when it became obvious this wasn't the case. So it hasn't been anything like the Bowyer Out campaign over the last 2 seasons that you're trying to portray at all.

This is quite right. Most were prepared to give him the chance to show what he could do on the back of that strongish run at the end of last season. I predicted we would finish 5th and I'm definitely on Bluebore's list of haters, doomsayers or whatever!

I'd kill for 5th right now.

I wrote the season off before it started, I was very vocal in my assumption that we'd have a better chance of going up NEXT season than this, but under Bowyers tenure.

I genuinely thought we had a chance of playoffs this season. The quality of the division appeared mostly equal at the top end (and so it has proven) and Cardiff and Fulham coming down were absolute shambles (and continue to be). Norwich also had a lull which gave a few teams a chance to sneak in.

This was the season to challenge, and we've blown it.

I was confident we would plod along again under Bowyer. Until he sorts our defence out once and for all its foolish to think any other way.

Pleasingly now that big lumbering mistake ridden embarrassment of a pretend tough guy has been ditched things look a lot more solid defensively. Can only wonder why it took Bowyer about 50 games too long to work out he was a wandering liability.

Predicting mid-table boredom and watching it unfold is hardly writing the season off is it? Most would say accurate predicting, not undermining the manager every step of the way.
