Gav, it's an easy question that leaves his supporters floundering.

Do you want promotion?

What have you seen to suggest he can take us there..

It's dead easy for me,

Yes

Nothing.

Yes

I'm more than happy with the long term approach that is now being taken and the way in which high wage earners are gradually been shown the door. He show's a good eye for a player without paying the earth for them. There have been several good performances over the past three or four months which have not been rewarded with the points they deserve because of individual errors. Will he take us up? Who knows, but then tell me the name of a manager who you can guarantee will take us up. We can change manager half a dozen times and still be mid-table Championship at the end of it. The owner appears to have opted for a more sensible long term strategy which I believe Bowyer can implement in terms of getting us into a challenging position in this League.

I view the position we're in (in terms of league and MO) as the minimum I can be happy with, but I hope we progress beyond this next season.

The fact is we COULD very easily be playing in L2 right now, had our fall continued in a rapid fashion.

Well the question was "what have you seen" that suggests he can take us up?

The long term approach is in the future Parson and high wage earners being shown the door - by being paid off by the owners, isn't really evidence of his management promotion credentials, so far.

From all that Parson, the only real argument you've put forward is that there have been several games that we haven't won over the past three or four months, that we deserved more from, along with showing an eye for a cheap player, - that's the evidence that he'll take us up, is it?

It's not, is it.

Somebody like McCarthy would might have this squad in or around the play offs. He didn't have the same mess as Bowyer at first but he's had virtually no budget and literally half the so called talent available to Gaz. The major overriding factor is experience but Big Mick has a style of football and management and sticks to it, not pretty but effective. At the end of the day he's a manager and treats his players as such and they treat him the same. Not really the case with GB.

Thats more like.

McCarthy has a track record of getting teams promoted, it's a testament to his skills that he's got Ipswich so high in the league with just how little he's spent. It's not even a valid comparison given how much success he's had in the past.

How many players has Bowyer been able to bring in, not to mention the calibre of players in the squad! Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes would be Mick McCarthy's wet dream!!

here is Mick McCarthy signings for Ipswich Town this season http://www.transferleague.co.uk/ipswich-town/english-football-teams/ipswich-town-transfers

he has signed 12 players permanent this season plus loans for Wood, Varney, Chaplow.

Look at Forest who has had 5 permanent managers in 3 seasons under their current owner and haven't got promotion so far despite spending over 20 million pounds on transfers trying to do so

Want to have a go at the two easy questions Chaddy?

Do you want promotion?

What evidence have you seen so far, that he'll get us there?

I'm not interested in Nottingham forest.

Wiil Bowyer take us up?

haven't got a clue.

Have there been signs he'll take us up?

no because we're too inconsistent.

Do i want promotion?

of course.

Do i trust the owners to know what they're doing if they replaced Bowyer?

A great big NO.

It seems to be that last question that people ignore when calling for change.

So you want promotion, haven't seen anything to suggest that he can get it, but want to keep him on.

What kind of stance is that Gav? It's no stance at all. Makes no sense whatsoever.

Come on den, you know as well as I do it's not as black and white as that. Plenty more factors come into play that have been well documented.

Chaddy point was that MM has been in the job 3yrs to get this far, Bowyer has had 2yrs.

There is another myth - we are inconsistent. No we are very consistent.

If the league ended today, We would only won 3 of 24 games played against the teams that finished top 6 in the last 2 seasons. In 2 of those games the opposition were guaranteed playoffs and had nothing to play for.

Only 5 teams in the championship currently have less points per game against the teams in the top half than Rovers.

We can beat the poorer sides. We can't beat the better sides. Consistent.

no need to swear. he was just dispelling the myth that Ipswich have spent no money and that changing the manager brings instant success.

Do YOU trust Venky's to replace Bowyer with a manager that will get us promoted?

He wasn't dispelling anything of the sort, he was returning to type as GB's love child

I don't trust the advice they will get from Degsy and Myers,

That is the real problem at the club at the moment

i'm sure we're in the top half, we must be able to beat somebody.

come on spill the beans ;) i promise i'm not Degsy.

Regardless, you admit you don't think the right person would be appointed if Bowyer was potted?

I didn't admit anything of the sort, learn to read.

I told you before, you will be the 1st person not to know

You offer so much to the debate Yoda, is their any need to hammer Chaddy for making a very valid point?

You are ignoring the £3.7 million they received.

Making a profit AND improving the team. That's a manager.

He's done a great job, whi says he hasn't?

I look forward to venky's appointing him or someone like him in the summer. I just wish i had your faith in the Pune3.

What are you Mrs D's lovechild :P (sorry, i turned into Yoda then, never a good thing).

McCarthy has been at Ipswich 3 years now after this season. But hasn't been sack there. The owner had keep faith him and trust.

This season he has had Ipswich in the top 6. Might get them promote this season.

He has had to sell key player like Cresswell and cut the wage bill and still keep them in the hunt for promotion.

Surely Bowyer is doing a similar type of job to McCarthy.

If you ignore squad budgets, league position, McCarthys entire management career, that we would swap places with them now, their highest paid player is on less than most our reserves, then yeah pretty similar. Like Ronald Koeman is doing a similar job to Martinez.

In all seriousness can you not see the difference Chaddy?
