"The whole idea is too ludicrous for words"

Have you just returned from a desert island? This is Venky Land and their magnificent Stoogies

Have you forgotten they turned down 12m for him in summer? Why would they suddenly loan him out to save at best 300k?

The only way in which it would make any sense at all is if a Club guaranteed to overpay for him in summer, say 15m, in return for being allowed to take him on loan now, AND whether they went up or not.

You're at least 6m out with your estimation of Rhodes' value imo but irrespective of that, his value in the summer to a newly promoted club would be the roughly the same whether or not he is loaned out to them first.

If they don't go up they presumably can't afford him. If they do go up and they want him, then they'll have to pay (a lot) for him.

A 3 month loan would save Rovers approaching £650k in wages, bonuses and employers' national insurance contributions (at almost 14% which most folk either don't know about or forget).

£15million, even £12million are all silly numbers for a striker who clearly does not have an all round game.

I think he will go this week and it will not be the unanimous decision of owners / board / coaching staff hence the reason for the present impasse.

Hahaha ... 6th time lucky becomes 7th time lucky this weekend!!! You are such a muppet.

I never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

Sorry to spoil your scenario with facts but the season finishes on May 2nd. Less than 2 months away.

7 x 40 = 280k. 14% on top of that another £40k.

And that's assuming another Club would agree to pick up Rhodes' entire wage package which may not even be the case.

Major problem for Rovers tonight if Rhodes plays.

Is his heart still in it ? Seems he's happy to go to M'boro, and what's going to happen in those 50/50 challenges ?

Huge problems if Rhodes breaks a leg, does a cruciate.

Until Rovers come out and say he's not going anywhere this season, and I don't mean a Bowyer presser, then he shouldn't play. Plain crazy if he does.

didn't really effect him in august did it when a PL team were sniffing round him ?

Think you need to get your facts right.

Any club would want loan to cover potential play-off final which is 28 May. If anyone has any nous at Ewood they would therefore insist on a 3 month loan and for the sake of a few grand, any interested club wouldn't bicker.

Seemingly, M'boro would stump up full employment costs whilst Forest apparently have a cunning plan to get round fair play which means 'consolidating' full employment cost into transfer fee should they get promoted (clearly, that's a bigger risk to Rovers).

If he goes it just shows what idiots we have running this club, worst timing ever for a transfer and leaving us with gestede for the rest of session. King and Brown offers nothing or always injured. To justify this as being in line for ffp is just bs, we knew when hull made their 12m bid we would be under the embargo. So to sell now and for less is just mental.

Can someone explain to me why some of the best teams in the division are chasing Rhodes yet our manager can find a place for him in the team?

Surely that outlines Bowyers rather than Rhodes shortcomings.

Certainly outlines that some people at Ewood want him gone so they can justify their existence to Madame at the next smoke blowing trip and any other benefits doing a deal may bring for all those involved. Still what we save will go some way to paying a bit off Shelfy's rogue episode, oh the irony

No doubt GB will be in the papers in a few week saying how jealous he his of Middlesborough having a 12 million pound striker knocking em in, if it happens.

If he does go it makes Bowyer look like an idiot after his comments in the press conference.

I can see the reasons for loaning him out, makes financial sense, but we'll probably never see him in a Rovers shirt again if he's loaned out.

Seems M'boro offer came in post presser.

Bowyer's comments showed his naivety.

Its 'snatch their hand off' time again.

Where would JR come in the all-time list of Centre Forwards?

Above Roque,Fat Boy and Bellamy?

Above Beattie, Simon G and Fred P?

Above his replacement(prob Joe Garner). Probably NO to all these answers.

Compared to Hanley,Lowe,Wilcox,Byrom etc He has had an easy time from the crowd.

Surely you're joking. I've seen all those strikers and only Joe Garner could be described as a worse player than Rhodes.. Byrom was twice the player Rhodes is.

I saw Byrom when he came back to the Club and he definitely wasn't then. Beattie wasn't a patch on Rhodes when he was here either.

And if Joe Garner is all that, why aren't there a posse of top Championship Clubs chasing him?

Seems there is no evidence Boro have made an offer at all, other than a claim in some sort of football blog type site,

However you've got the last laugh as you've clearly been on the wind up on this particular subject for about 2 seasons now and have reeled me into replying once again. Well done.

Get what we can, offer King and Gestede better contracts to keep them, financed by savings from Rhodes sale - Result

Think Gestede wants, and will get, PL. Liverpool performance almost guaranteed that. Staggering how scared their defence was of him.

Don't think there's any doubt that they are in big for him - see the Teeside Gazette.
