thenodrog Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Thanks for sharing that with the Messageboard. if we do sell either to Palace then I hope we try to get Gayle as part of any deal. Just get cash. Cash is king and insisting on it sorts out the men from the boys. Plus we have ffp to sort out rem.

Ricky Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Surely having ffp to sort is even more reason to get a player in exchange?? Murray and cash for Gestede would be good.
blueboy3333 Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Unless selling Rhodes and/or Gestede means we immediately exit the embargo then would we not be still restricted to the £10k a week limit on wages? Pretty sure that would rule out Gayle and Murray.
Athlete Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Thanks for sharing that with the Messageboard. if we do sell either to Palace then I hope we try to get Gayle as part of any deal. Chaddy I see Mcclaren being named Newcastle manager in the morning
chaddyrovers Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Chaddy I see Mcclaren being named Newcastle manager in the morning yes Ive been reading a few articles saying that btw. good luck to him there I don't think the Newcastle fans will be happy about this
Bucksrover Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Surely having ffp to sort is even more reason to get a player in exchange?? Murray and cash for Gestede would be good. From what I have seen murray is similar to rhodes - not much of an athlete but sharp in front of goal. With King gone I think we would need to replace Gestede with someone quick or good in the air
tomphil Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Sadly getting the likes of Murray or Gayle here will be near impossible these days especially if we can't swing the deal with big wages like in the past. We are back to being a small backwater club with little profile these days in the eyes of a lot of the football world. Even if clubs agree it these guys are really unlikely to want to come nowadays. No big name manager to lure them and no lucrative contract to make the move worthwhile.
The Gull Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Just a thought, but if Gayle/Murray where somehow convinced to sign for Rovers as part of a deal taking Rhodes or Gestede, or both, could we not do a deal with Palace where they cover a portion of the wages and we receive little less transfer fee? If I was in charge at Rovers and in the financial situation we currently find ourselves, and had the ambition to get Rovers out of this league, that is how I would approach it. Example: Palace willing to pay 6m plus Gayle for Rhodes Gayle wants 20k per week and has 3 years remaining on his Palace contract We offer him 10k per week on a 3 year contract. Palace agree to cover the difference (10k) over the 3 years, that equates to just over 1.5m over the length of the contract. Palace now willing to give is 4.5m plus Gayle and cover the 1.5m wage difference. Just a thought but it is a way of getting some decent players if we have to cash in on/let Gestede and Rhodes leave.
chimbondapie Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 We seem to be the main victims of ffp yet seem to be doing nothing about it , if anything using it as an excuse . We have some pretty rich owners it seems but it's almost as if after getting screwed over in this whole sorry mess they are just keeping their heads down in the hope that the end of the tunnel is insight and they can escape with minimal damage We seem to be doing nothing about ffp despite it appears being hit the hardest. It's as if our pretty rich owners have seen the light and are just keeping their heads down until they can slip away with minimal damage . Meanwhile it also suits the gary skill set of low expectation

perthblue02 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Would imagine our appeal against FFP went something like this . Ring ring : Hello Football League Rogue MD: Hello its Venky's Ewood Park franchise FC here , we want to appeal against FFP FL: Well then can you explain all these strange outgoings in your accounts, for instance why are there so many payments out associated with incoming transfers Silence FL: Hello Rogue MD makes crackling and static sounds FL: Hello are you still there Rogue MD puts on a very poor Malaysian accent ""my name is Singh ,err err its all my fault goodbye errr Robbie. Will send you the details by fax if it's working ""
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Spot on. It's been their 'go to' excuse. Though there are flaws in FFP - is it really what we should be blaming ? At the end of the day we are losing money, our incoming is reducing - and will drastically drop next season when parachute payments drop. At some point realism will have to kick in.
rog of the rovers Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 My realistic shopping list. (Assuming Gestede is sold and frees up wages money) Obviously a lot depends on who stays/goes Deli Alli and/or Alex Pritchard - season long loans. Pritchard, a midfielder from Tottenham, on loan at Brentford last season, cracking little player, Alli at MK Dons last term, young talent. I'd be ringing Pochettino everyday about these two! Ken Omeruo - season long loan. Chelsea defender, was at Middlesbrough last season. Chuba Akpom - season long loan, young pacy striker, a little raw, but bags of potential Andy Wilkinson or Chris Baird - versatile defenders, good pros, good cover in several positions, both got a little thuggish streak in them which you need in the Championship. Sammy Ameobi - Tricky forward, can play several positions. He did well at Middlesbrough in the Championship years ago. 25 Prem appearances last year Adlene Guedioura - Midfield general at this level, would be a great signing. Promoted with Palace and Watford. Possible make weight of a Gestede deal? Just some ideas that I'd be exploring.
Oldgregg86 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I would swap Rhodes for gayle with no fee involved in a heartbeat

ABBEY Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I would swap Rhodes for gayle with no fee involved in a heartbeatYou would do this because ?
47er Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Lots of good suggestions for possible new players but pointless without a good manager. 40 goals a season from 2 players and can't get better than halfway.
windymiller7 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 From what I have seen murray is similar to rhodes - not much of an athlete but sharp in front of goal. With King gone I think we would need to replace Gestede with someone quick or good in the air There's much more to Murray's game than Rhodes'. I remember watching a Palace game last season (night match, can't remember who against) where he picked up MoM. He was immense leading the line on his own. Won headers, held the ball up, and scored. Never gave the centre halves a minutes peace. Whether he's as clinical as JR these days since his injury I'm not sure, but I certainly wouldn't be upset to see him in the blue & White halves next season. Edit: The game was against Man City in a 2-1 win for Palace on MNF so not exactly against poor oppo either.
Don Said Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I would swap Rhodes for gayle with no fee involved in a heartbeat I'd also swap Rudy&Marshall for Heskey
