In fairness to Best (tin hat time) if someone was stupid enough to give him a contract which is bonkers , then I think in the same position id be reluctant to just walk away from it .

His scoring record was mediocre before we signed him , God knows what Kean saw in him

However since signing , he picked up a nasty injury at Fleetwood , got back in the team when he was nowhere near fit and the team on the pitch as a whole where struggling . He's then been farmed out here, there and everywhere for openly stating he is fit and wants to play.

So yes his social media antics ain't exactly been a good thing , however there is 2 sides to the story and bar paying him a kings Ransom

rovers treatment of Best ain't exactly been that great either.

Looking further down the line , if we lose Gestede and Rhodes , some people on both sides may have to eat some humble pie , because we ain't actually ripping at the seams with replacements within our current squad for those two. Whilst free transfers and loans are not going to be an adequate replacement for those two

If we loose Rudy and Jordan, and having to pay Best his wage Bowyer must sit down with him and get him re invigorated and make him want to play, otherwise Bowyer is also letting the fans down like it or not Best has to be better than the alternative -- Browwwnnnnyyyy, who knows what's around the corner in the next few weeks, isn't shelfy's contract up in June and Bowyers rolling 12 mth, or has he one for life.

Nowhere near that point. There were 5-6000 die hards in the 70's and now most of their equivalents have left the area. Put another way gav how many supporters do you think the club had from Bastwell, Whalley New Road, Little Harwood traingle in the 70's and how many have they from there now? Now multiply that effect through the rest of town.

You seem to forget all the kids that started supporting us through the 90's and 2000's Gordon. You only need look at the majority of fans on a match day to see they're of that age and are still going down, the die hard support has increaed in my eyes, we'll not see 5-6000 again I hope.

But things are going to get worse before they get better, so that theory will be tested soon I'd wager.

I have to agree on Best as much as he's a tool if it comes to needs must then he'll have to be used. I'd bounce him out but on the other side of the coin no point getting a couple of grand per week off a rival whilst paying him 30k to play for them. Let's hope it doesn't come to that but desperate times, desperate measures and all that. He's got ability but his head seems up his arse !

There were approx 1000 on that first protest imo. None should have gone to watch the match and all should have been employed handing out fliers outside the ground to people going in explaining the situation and the reasons for boycotting. (riverside should have been the prime target. Next home match there might just have been 2000 and so on. All it needed was a couple of home games played before a empty stadium and the media, Scudamore, and venkys could not have ignored that situation.

You seem to have forgotten or ignore the regime at that time. Those at board level in the club hated the protesters. If they could have banned them they would have. There were also too many naysayers in the home ends telling people they weren't proper fans.

Just out of interest Gordon, what would you have printed on those flyers? I.e. That wouldn't have had you in court?

I'm similar. My dad was given 5 years in November. As long as he goes, I go. It's one of the precious few things we get to enjoy together without distraction (occasional round of golf too).

Damn Mick, I didn't know that pal! We will have to get everyone together for another round of Doritos!

Leon Best set to see out his last year of his contract. Plus Rovers still.interested in Rudy Austin. http://t.co/CMC5hnr8tf

Simon Garmer column. Rovers only need minor tinkering if Rhodes and Gestede stays http://m.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/13314494.Simon_Garner_column__Blackburn_Rovers_need_only_minor_tinkering___if_star_strikers_stay/

A new man at the helm is hardly tinkering

The defence is a headless seive and the midfield has all the guile of a tuna sandwich in a rainstorm

The only way he will play again is if we change manager. No way Bowyer can play him now. Too much water under the bridge. Even if we sell Gestede and Rhodes Best still wont play and I don't blame Bowyer for that.

There is a (slim) possibility that if we do change a new manager will give Best a clean slate.

That said hes gone to Wednesday and Derby with clean slates and done nothing. So I am not holding my breath.

I think it is highly unlikely Best is going to answer any of our problems.

""It is believed by the time he eventually leaves the club he will have cost around £11m in wages and transfer fee.""

Leon Best signed a contract for four years on the 2nd of July , Derek Shaw appointed managing Director on the 28th of June, Still somebody else's fault Derek or had your magic pen gone rogue?

I remember Philipl costing one of the players up not long after he'd signed and saying we'd committed to a total outlay of about 10 mill on him with or without promotion. I think it was Etuhu he was on about but chuck in Murphy, Best & Orr as well and that's the whole parachutes gone. No doubt at least one person has a nice % in all of those.

Also noticed the LT reporter didn't try and nail that one at Shebbys door either as in previous articles.

So 2 tools signed in one week both of which have cost in the region of 20 million by now. oh for John Williams.

Though a pre-season game is no real barometer - I saw Best play at Fleetwood (where he picked up his injury) - he actually looked very good on the day. Scored a very good goal, led the line well and was a constant threat. I have been extremely disappointed at how his career at Rovers has panned out.

Bowyer keeps saying how players can further their careers at Rovers - using Gestede etc as an example - maybe he needs to apply some of this man management on Best. Personally I don't think (if applying himself correctly) he is that bad a player - and is a definite improvement on Brown.

Best is an example of everything wrong with modern football and footballers.

You can't blame him for signing the contract, but you can blame him for the bad attitude that follows him round everywhere he goes (Derby/Brighton). Anyone with an ounce of pride would have done anything they can to get playing football again, rather than sit back in Nandos with his wanna-be gangsters picking up the money.

Shocking that Best is probably in the top 5 highest paid players outside the premiership.

Not saying a lot, though, is it? A training cone could score more than Brownie.

Also be interesting to know on what date Bradley Orr got his extension. Good appointment by Team Kean bringing Degsy in

Obvious Stuart. Anything except my name. :tu:

Might even have got the plane to drop a few thousand over the ground too. SK would have had a mighty difficult job claiming that he hadn't seen the plane when the pitch was ankle deep in Kean/Venkys Out literature wouldn't he? ^_^

Rovers hard core tends to come now from mill hill Ewood lower Darwen Fernhurst farm Darwen livesey Feniscowles cherry Tree etc all walkable areas to the ground a lot who have now moved away don't bother apathy has set in unfortunately as either they have to drive or use public transport and with the town's drinking establishments dwindling it isn't what it used to be.. Not just the football

we got so much crap outside the players entrance it was cringe worthy. After (I think it was) the Bolton game a bloke with venom ranted I was a scummy so and so to did his g/f shoved me in the face and when I stepped towards her b/f, a steward and policemen threatened to have ME arrested . Another time about four keanites had a go and wouldn't back there gobbing up .There were many many many occasions when it happened .Yet many just ignored and let kean and co carry on regardless .Like I said after/during he ewood v Liverpool game there was plenty of venky love on the BBE and outside and on here as well.

The only statement I want is the intent to sell.

That is no different than it ever was. Unfortunately the areas that are mainly asian are not as fertile a gathering ground as they were when those terraced houses were full of BRFC supporters. 9tbh BRFC's best ever fan came from a terraced house in Little Harwood didn't he? Things might improve a touch in that direction if Eurogarages became main sponsor but there's little chance of that with the Venkys at the helm I'd imagine.

The landscape of the town is changing as I say many who've moved out to the ribble Valley other parts of Lancashire now can't even be bothered the whole matchday experience as changed.. Take the walk back into town there's now only the lochside tavern and the railway club left and when you do get to town it's a dead whole.. It's sad but true Blackburn used to be full of life with booming pubs and great nite life

Best has done absolutely nothing to endear himself to fans of our club, in fact, despite his healthy wages, he has alienated himself so much that there could never be a chance he would be accepted at Ewood.

Keanscum for whatever reason deemed it appropriate to offer him a deal, that simply emphasises how much of a clown he actually was.

As for LB, well, I cant print what I actually think of him.

Whatever happens I do not want to see him in a Rovers shirt ever again

I'm not sure Best even has the ability people believe he does. Certainly not on any remotely consistent level. The most prolific spell of his career was a loan at Yeovil back in 2006/07, when he scored 10 in 15. That aside his record is pretty poor for a striker. He did OK at Newcastle but nonetheless they saw fit to get rid after only 2 years. We were the suckers who paid a lot of money for a striker that had never really proven himself to be anything special. Since then he's done sod all here or at loan spells at the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Brighton and Derby.

He isn't worth the hassle. At best (no pen intended) an average player with a poor goal record for a striker, who struck lucky by signing for us at a time when we were in total disarray at every level. A waste of money and a waste of time.
