Crystal Palace are poised to bid in the region of £15m for Scotland striker Jordan Rhodes.

Rhodes, 25, hit 21 goals for Blackburn in the Championship last summer and is one of several targets on Alan Pardew's summer hit list.

Pardew is looking to bring four players to improve his squad having recently secured Jason Puncheon on a new four-year deal

I think we would have to sell him, if that is the real size of the bid. In a perfect world we get Glen Murray, as a replacement. If we get £8 Million for Gestede too, that has to be good business and will almost certainly, mean the Embargo is lifted. It is then time to accept that we fight to stay in the Championship this year and begin to slowly rebuild from there. We are in a real mess and selling the prize assets, may be necessary, just to keep the club afloat.

Whoah... Since when could Palace afford 15m? Wow. The new TV deal (if it is true) has really put the afterburners on.

For that money Rhodes is gone. We should try and get Gayle and another proven striker.

Though I doubt the story is accurate.

Hypothetically if we got 15m and 7m for Rhodes and Gestede - so 22m total - how much of that cash could we spend?

Why sell? when you already have two proven goalscovers.

The talk should be about adding a third striker to compliment these two and binning Brown.

15 million pounds is a lot of money to turn down.

if we could get Murray or Gayle as part of the deal. it would give us a replacement and cash to help towards getting this embargo lift. maybe even money left over to spend if Gestede and Rhodes did leave for the amount been mentioned in the Daily Mail's articles

Palace are very well run by Parish and financially managed excellent. but the new TV deal will help them spend this summer.

I can see the owners accepted the Rhodes bid from Palace if it is 15 million pounds bid. very hard to turn down the bid

under this embargo we can only sign players on a free transfer or loan. plus no more than 10k a week in wages. who this great 3rd striker then? any suggestions?

Gestede has said he want a move to PL this summer.

plus we need this embargo lift if we can.

I don't want to sell either of Gestede and Rhodes but I don't want to be under this embargo all longer than we need to be.

One thing that never seems to get mentioned is that Embargo stops us from gathering more debt on transfer fees and 7 figure annual salaries. Maybe it's not a bad thing when we take the current debt levels and questionable ownership into account!

Balanced? When Chris Brown is a maybe instead of a flop?!?! That's pushing it.

More debatable are the successes like Taylor and Tunni. Neither made a massive impact in our season - hard to champion them as qualified successes.

Heck even the part raving about his success with a fee wasn't totally unbiased as though shrewd buys players like cairney and Marshall have had indifferent seasons.

What tipped me over the edge was the article below it - Bowyer relishes left back battle. What battle? Olsson head abd shoulders is above Spurr and should retain his place till injuries or poor performances. If he's not grasped that than Bowyer's further behind than I thought. Worrying...

Agreed. Couple of other things. One of Bowyer's major 'hits' in the freebie stakes is Chris Taylor - who is not being offered a new contract! It also proves that Bowyer is absolutely the wrong bloke to have as manager under an embargo.

I too was, let's say, bemused by the 'relishing' of the 'left-back battle' next season. What an absolute load of cobblers. Either he's completely lost his marbles or he is taking the @#/? out of fans. The local media are clearly in on the joke - otherwise you'd have to say they are inept.

We should have 2 players for every position if we really wanted to be top dog, plus we conceded a lot last season - I'd say he should be considering changes.

I can't see how this article is another black and white "he's either stupid or complicit to the dodgy dealing".

If they bid we can safely say Jr's gone and with it will come a season of struggle especially if Gestede leaves . The silence in pune is deafening

I'm not sure how you've come to that conclusion from my post.

Salivating over having two left backs when we have problem areas all over midfield and need a new CB (where one of his drool-covered left backs has been covering) and still no RB. He is ignoring the problems in favour of taking the positives. Ah well, he can afford to relax, FFP will save him with its ready-made excuses, and he is unsackable.

"Taking the @#/? out of fans" or something similar was your post- and the snippet above is where I got my "complicit to the dodgy dealing" from.

If he's purposely lying to fans or taking the Micheal, he's certainly complicit to the overall shambles the club has been since the takeover.

I have to agree with that.

We dont want lose Rhodes or Gestede but we got to look at financally tho.

Then its down to Bowyer and his scouts to find good replacements and bring 2/3 strikers.

You've suggested Gayle coming in Chaddy, who isn't going to accept less than £10k per week is he!

The Daily Snail is a pathetic paper sport wise.

Where do Boro get £12m from in one shot? Answer is they don't and we wont sell unless they pay the going fee.

I don't see Palace taking Rhodes over a player of the ilk of Remy, there just isn't a comparison between him and JR. Ones proven the other isn't.

Gestede is the player who is MORE likely to go and ONLY when the fee required is met. We know its around £7m that the club value him at so that has to be the ballpark figure for any deal to go ahead.

The papers are full of speculation, there isn't much else to talk about and they fill the pages with rubbish.

Yeah this is the confusing bit. Theoretically we would get 15m quid in and get 35k a week off the wage bill. Surely that would have some impact in allowing us to spend a bit more per week on Gayle?

Bit of a leap.

I meant more like he knows how messageboards will react to such cobblers and doesn't care. As though he is just chuckling away to himself.

To be honest, the only way I think our club works outside the prem is to sell proven players like Rhodes and Gestede for hopefully a combined 22 million, get the embargo lifted, then buy replacements nobody has heard of or rates- either from europe or domestic gambles like Gestede was.

I would guess Gayle will get a good wage at a lower premiership club.
