Think that goal keeps Rhodes here for the season at least.

Anything other than a win tonight and even the V's wouldn't buy 'promotion hopes' clap trap from Gaz.

I do hope so, he was a little boy lost all night, but did the business after missing a sitter of a header straight at their keeper. You don't get rid of the Crown Jewels!

Absolutely summed him up if the game was over at 93 minutes he'd be getting pelters and I would have been one to criticise, he played bad but has that instinct of being right place right time and that's unteachable.

He's only here to get game time Big Sam is a fan of his and has only recently joined

I could see him here on a longer loan next season though

Steele?

made some really good saves today.

Rhodes in a millisecond shows why we need him

Not his best game but if he is on you have a chance

On the flip side you have cloggers like Brown that work hard but couldn't finish their supper and if rhodes goes thats our future

KEEP

Rhodes is a goalscorer and that's what he does best.

But if he is staying here then we need play to his strengths and play a more attacking passing style with Cairney in the number 10 role behind Rhodes

Hope we can do a deal with West Ham for Henry

I hope we can do a season long loan deal.

guess a lot will depends who is the manager is at West Ham United. doubt it will be Sam Allardyce.

I will say that Matt Kilgallon should get a new deal. he has been outstanding recently

Gary Bowyer reiterated match-winner Jordan Rhodes will not be going on loan. And it is understood Venky's will not sanction such a move.

I thought Rhodes caused problems for their defence all night (Mills should have been booked twice before he actually was), McCarthy? (their 54) had both hands all over Rhodes all first half - he was 3 foot taller so not sure why that went unpunished, and finally that "sitter" came at chest height so Rhodes did amazingly to even get his head on the ball never mind direct it away from the keeper. He wasn't little boy lost at all.

Final point dead right though - you keep players like Rhodes.

I don't mind Hanley and i do think he has a lot of potential but as captain of Rovers and Scotland (and being one of the few left over from the Prem days) he must be one of the highest earners at the club. He hasn't been worth it this season. With FFP and money needing to be raised this summer he would be the first sold for me.

So Mercer goes from 'he's definitely going' to 'he'll stay for the season' in about 4 hours. You're clueless on this subject Mercer. You've had him sold more times than Nixon. The annoying thing is that when we finally do sell him you'll be all over here claiming you were right. We all know he'll go at some time but your constant claims over the last two years on the subject have been laughable at best.

Think the V's are the most unpredictable business operators and certainly their football decisions change by the hour.

It seems Shelfy has been negotiating with a number of clubs and you are not telling me that he's doing that without having first consulted Desai ? We all suspect how precious he is about his position and the £170,000 pa salary that comes with it so I doubt he would go 'rogue' on this one.

On the other hand, IMV, you have Bowyer who is desperate to cling on to his job and knows he needs to accumulate as many points as possible in order for the club to finish in a 'respectable' position and be seen, in V's eyes, to be ready to clinch promotion next season. As such, the self preservationist wont want any useful asset to leave and no doubt he'll be giving Desai plenty in her other ear telling her that promo is still on this season.

You couldn't make this lot up. The only thing predictable about Rovers these days is the unpredictability.

Guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

Here ya go boys and girls. Straight from the horses mouth.

Rhodes going nowhere!

Can Gary explain the maths equation that gives us the answer to why Rhodes is left on the bench for most matches, with the likes of Brown often brought on ahead of our top league goalscorer?

Dear me. The only facts are that Shelfy HAS gone rogue before and that last time our 'board' sold Rhodes the deal was kiboshed by Mrs D. Your argument is based on the complete opposite of what we already know to have happened once before. Bizarre.

But at least you can say with 'certainty' that the Rao's change their decisions hourly... and that Bowyer is all about self-preservation. Your insight is priceless

ha, you've used that one before, it's good but you need new material.

anything to say on the points raised or are you just going to keep WUM-ing?

Try to stay on topic and not let your mind wander, it's not big enough to go out on it's own.

This is going to go on all summer. Mercer will continue to suggest its either all illegal or doom is incoming, whether that be regarding the finances or players being sold.

For the record, this is how it works:

Club X contacts Rovers asking availability of Player Y.

Shelfy, acting on behalf of Rovers, negotiates the best deal possible from Club X for Player Y.

Club X reaches its maximum offer, which Shelfy thanks them for and says Rovers will get back to them.

Club X leaks to the local media that they are interested in Player Y and there is a deal in place.

Rovers don't publicly go out and say there isn't a deal in place, because there is. All of the paperwork has been negotiated.

But heres the big one -

Venkys. Venkys have history for rejected phenomenal fees for players that they value. It is there culture to keep things throughout any circumstances that they like, because selling is a sign of failure, weakness and 'losing'.

Before Player Y leaves Rovers and signs for Club X, Shelfy presents the deal to Venkys. Whether he is suggesting the deal should go ahead, or shouldn't go ahead, doesn't matter. He is presenting the best deal possible to the owners. That is, essentially, his job, for anyone that doesn't know what he does. He is there to negotiate. This isn't Shelfy 'going rogue', thats why he's there. Thats why they pay him. So they don't have to deal with talking to people.

In this case, it seems like like in summer with Hull, when there was a deal agreed with Hull & JR was willing to talk to Hull, Venky's have said 'no deal'.

The entire process is surreal, it essentially invites speculation and stress on to the club and the clubs players. But thats how it is ran.
