Did the Sheff Wed fan explain how his club are going to be able to pay the £10 - 15 million for those two players and wages of £50k a week under FFP rules?

Or are they not constrained by these rules?

Not really. Just said Sheff Wed who have got a new owner who is looking to spend money.

The same Daily Mail that on Tuesday said that a £5 million deal for Gestede to join Watford was virtually done and dusted. Now they are saying he is a target but there have been no official approaches. They really are clueless.

I guess it is different reporters with different sources.

Yes but the whole point behind FFP rules is that they are designed to prevent new owners coming in and throwing money around. If the rules are being enforced consistently then Sheffield Wednesday are limited to losses of £8 million per year.

Given that they don't have parachute money, haven't been in the Premier League recently and haven't sold any big players then it would be simply impossible for them to be able to pay £10 million+ for Rhodes without breaking the rules and being sanctioned by the League. That's not to mention covering Rhodes' estimated £30k+ weekly wages.

The same applies to Middlesbrough, who have gates of about 16,000 and no Premier League money. Spending £10 million on a player cannot be done. It is what has got us into the predicament we are in, and at least we had parachute money and did the deals before FFP came into place.

Of course we are assuming that the rules apply equally to all clubs and will be enforced fairly and strictly. I don't believe that they are being, and that is why some clubs like Boro and Bolton have been allowed to lose above and beyond the limit without punishment.

No doubt they would turn a blind eye if someone like Sheff W started throwing silly money around.

The prospect of Leon Clarke and Chris Brown being regular first team players next season is enough to send shivers down my spine. Clarke has done nothing in his long career at countless clubs to suggest that he is going to be suitable to replace a 20 goal a season striker in Gestede. He's 30, is unlikely to improve in his latter years and will have no sell on value. If we need new players we either need to be looking abroad for undiscovered gems, at young players from the lower leagues who are likely to progress and improve, or at loans from the Premier League. Not at out of contract 30 year olds from Wolves who have spent most of their careers in League One.

If Leon Clarke is the standard we are looking at to replace departing players then it is time to worry. It also tells me that we need to slap a non-negotiable big money price tag on both Rhodes and Gestede and do whatever we can to keep them at the club.

On another note, if it is true that we offered King £18k a week to stay on a new 3 year contract, then would be able to use maybe half of that money to give Rudy a new improved contract in a bid to keep him here and bump up his price tag further? I don't see why we couldn't.

If King is set to sign for Bournemouth then he is going to struggle to play for them.

They have 3 strikers already and are looking to sign Gayle from Palace.

This is literally what Nicko just said to you on Twitter

Yes he did but I agree with the part that he is unlikely to play much there due to Wilson being 1st choice. Plus Gayle likely to be playing for them.

But disagree with Nicko saying King isnt a PL quality.

I think 7 million pounds for Gestede is a good price. I can see one of the PL paying it.

His performance against Liverpool showed he can play PL teams if the team suits his style like Palace, Wba or Watford buying him.

Maybe Hull, Boro or Sheff Wed paying 10 million pounds for Rhodes. I was talking to Sheff Wed fan tonight who thinks Rhodes will join them during the summer and Ben Marshall aswell

I may be letting my anti Burnley bias cloud my judgement but if he's is worth 12 million when he's out of contract in a few weeks then Gestede under contract is every bit of 10 million. I'm not saying Gestede is better than ings (I don't think he is) but in his last championship season Ings got 21 in 40 Gestede 20 in 39 plus Gestede did it in a worse team. 12 million doesn't go that far for 11 goals.

what kind of money are we likely to receive as compo for king?

that king let article also pins the blame for leon best's signing and massive contract on shabby singh! I'm pretty sure that was a deal made by kean(spit) and his cronies before singh even arrived.

Given that Leon Best was at Coventry City at the same time as Kean was assistant manager there I'd say that connection wasn't a coincidence.

I doubt Shebby Singh had ever even heard of him.

I can't imagine Rhodes would have scored quite as many playing on the wing in 10 minute spells

He's a prolific striker, so plays up front week in week out for 90 minutes. King plays bit parts because he's either injured or simply not very good.

He has a couple of good games in the cup and he's the best thing since sliced bread. We watch him week in week out when he gets a game, people need to think about those inept, lack lustre performances and not 2 games in 2yrs.

Back to the same old comments Abbey. Some things never change.

Its a shame you fail to comment on potential signings or suggest potential signings.

maybe but you only regurgitate old hacks tweets and postings. I have commented .

I will comment properly when we have facts not just girly gossip.

The LT have trotted out the 'in the Shebby Singh' era quite a few times in the recent past when apportioning the blame. A lot of damage was done before he even showed his daft mug. Wonder who's pulling Wheelcocks strings

Hull have released Liam Rosenior, Paul McShane, Yannick Sagbo and Maynor Figueroa. Stephen Quinn and Alex Bruce are both also out of contract but have been offered new deals. Wouldn't mind us taking an interest in any of those.

Yeah interesting isn't it, next weeks headline Shebby Singh stole my magic pen and changed Henning Bergs contract. Also a lot of damage done when nobender came onboard as well.

Probably all part of trying to put a positive spin and deflect attention from the current regimes failings before they visit her majesty.

Never seen him play before so couldn't comment on his ability or talent.

I would rather take a risk on Foreign striker who is on a free transfer someone like Erwin Hoffer. A striker we were linked to when Big Sam was here as manager. Pacey striker

On Beckford and Becchio, I would imagine Beckford will sign for Preston. But Becchio would be good replacement for Rudy if he does leave.

If QPR get FFP Overturn and think might help Rovers to sign better players. A decision according to media reports by mid June

If you see him you'll believe that brown is Lionel Messi ask any wigan or wolves fan.. If that's the calibre were looking at God help us
