philipl Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Enjoy seeing Rovers top of the pile in Premier League 2. Better be quick because anything other than a Man U win intoday's Manchester derby sees us toppled.. https://www.google.com/search?gs_ssp=eJzj4tVP1zc0TIk3N7K0MDAyYPTiK8gxUkjJLMsszszPUzAEAIFGCKs&q=pl2+division+1&oq=pl2&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j46j0l5.3699j0j15&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#sie=lg;/g/11hnxc2_hq;2;/g/11d_729802;st;fp;1;; Quote

Still a couple of teams below who could overtake by winning their game in hand though. Tight league up at the top. With us doing so well in a league full of Premiership resources and squad players dropping down from the Prem now and then, you have to wonder who is next on the conveyor belt and when they'll be broken in. Our most urgent need of course is in defence, but that's always a tricky area for youngsters to be tested, and the u23s' best in that area haven't been able to stamp their mark indelibly when given the chance over the last year. I'd say the attacking and midfield areas are unlikely to see more than a bench cameo from the youngsters before the season is out unless injuries actually worsen, if even Dolan can't earn himself a start. Davenport struggling to make the first team despite a goal too. On reflection, I think we might want to look at some loans for a choice few in Jan to continue their development. I think that should include one of the keepers if possible, we don't need that many at that level and its inevitable at least one will stall their progress otherwise. Quote

philipl Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Actually the Manchester derby ended 2-2. City equalised despite playing with 10. So we are second with a hugely inferior GD. Derby can go a point clear at the top if they beat Brighton today. Derby are the only other non Prem side in the top division besides us. 1 Quote
philipl Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Derby drew but Chelsea beat Spuds so we are now 3rd. Quote

I'd let some of the kids have the FA Cup game vs Doncaster, at the very least as subs. A cup run would be good but staying in the playoff race should be priority so resting a few starters and letting some of the U23s prove their worth wouldn't be too bad of an idea. 2 Quote

He did ok, low centre of gravity etc. How is he getting ahead of the favoured Bucko though....we can't afford to keep experimenting with giving youngsters who aren't good enough game time. Tony needs to get ruthless Quote

Uddersfelt Blue Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 U23’s at Derby on Monday 7pm A live stream available on Derby’s website. Oh, Dack scheduled to play 3 Quote
SBlue Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 (edited) Anyone else watching this tonight? Good few first team squad members involved. Be interested to hear other’s thoughts. Edited December 21, 2020 by S8 & Blue Quote
roversfan99 Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Dack looks very rusty and off the pace as you expect. When he returns I do hope he isnt played where he is playing tonight as hes not the type to run a game. Quote

Didn't know that “big head” Gary Bowyer ended up at Derby reserves... thought he would want a top job now whatever the level. Quote
roversfan99 Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Seems to be left in the three but he becomes less effective when he starts coming deep, hes not that type of player. When he is fully fit we should revert to playing him as a 10. Quote
SBlue Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 (edited) Pretty certain that Chapman isn’t going to make it with us. The difference in effort, bravery to want the ball, and the pure desire and workrate between him and Dolan is very noticeable when they’re on the same pitch. bazza Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 A lot of the play has been down our right where Dolan still strikes me as a one trick pony. No end product. Chapman on the left.....not interested IMO. Dack finished copying Tosin in running things from CB. Still he's getting a run out to up his match fitness. Quote
Gone to seed Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Sibley sent off for them. If Chapman grows a pair we might nick this.. Quote
Gone to seed Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 The style of play is certainly reminiscent of the first team.. Quote
Gone to seed Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 (edited) Pike unlucky to not score there.. followed by Rovers conceding a stupid penalty. 3-2 Derby. Dang! Edited December 21, 2020 by WIR Second Coming Quote
