Looks like Alex Baker is injured again.  He has just come back after being injured for the best part of 3 years

If you read that really quickly, it looks like Lewis Baker.....

Another really entertaining match at Leyland last night as Rovers beat Forest 3-2. Carter was missing despite it being reported that he would start, hopefully just a minor set back. Ohashi started and took up some good positions and moved about comfortably. However he did have his right knee strapped up despite his absence being from an ankle injury. He was taken off at half-time which I guess was always the plan.

Rovers were lucky to win as Forest created lots of chances and pretty much dominated the game. Michalski was really good in goal (despite giving the ball away for a Forest goal) as he made several exceptional saves. His confidence is clear but he gives us the jitters sometimes with the ball at his feet.

I felt for Alex Baker who scored within seconds of coming on and looked really sharp. Sadly he overstretched for a cross and appeared to damage his hamstring. Hopefully it's not too serious As the lad has had so much bad luck with injuries.

The three goals Rovers scored last night were of the highest quality. A great free kick from Strich and two exemplary finishes from Baker and Boggan.I

There is no better feeling than scoring a winner deep into stoppage time particularly when you have been second best pretty much all night

The first team haven't done that in front of fans since November 2019!

Apologies it was actually in the 88th minute but your point still applies.

I rely on a memory which is aging 😂.

U18s team vs Leeds, 1pm kick off

Higgins not playing seems odd. Didn't play for the u21s. Then again, Sergeant isn't starting either, but at least he's on the bench. Maybe resting them since they played Saturday, but Higgins was subbed off last match and doesn't make the bench, whilst Sergeant played the whole thing and makes the bench. Did Higgins take a knock against Manure?

I am fairly certain that its rare the lower age groups name unchanged teams, its about the development of the whole age group squad rather than results, so some rotation is always likely.

Higgins and Silver Eze are also still at school, so lessons may have got in the way 😉

U18s won 6-2 vs Leeds this afternoon

Another goalfest involving our youngsters this afternoon. Mistakes aplenty from both teams made it an interesting spectacle and Leeds can consider themselves a touch unfortunate to be on the end of such a heavy defeat. The difficult conditions didn't make it easy for the players which in turn led to lots of turnovers of possession and consequently chances at both ends. We played a lot of counter attacking play particularly in the second half as Leeds poured forwards.

The day was spoilt by a silly sending off for Valentin Joseph. His first caution was daft. He deliberately stopped the Leeds goalkeeper from releasing the ball into play when we were 5-2 up. Then in stoppage time he slid in for a loose ball on the goal line and caught him. It was one he had to go for but the referee considered his challenge to be reckless and gave him a second yellow card. Hopefully he'll learn from this.

After 13 goals in two Rovers games this week what are the chances of a 0-0 on Saturday. 😁

Apart from the red card is Joseph looking good? Seeing his name on the scoresheet a bit

The first thing you notice about him is his size, he is a real unit but quite athletic with it. As you would expect he is physical but also has a deft touch when needed. He took his goals well today.

All in all he looks a really good prospect and hopefully next season can step up to the under 21's.

And then quickly snaffled up for a nominal fee by a Premier League Academy.

U18s won 2-1 away to Derby this afternoon. Vare with both goals for Rovers

3rd vs 4th in the table, Rovers lost the reverse 6-0 earlier in the season

Vare is a midfielder, and looking at the lineup on google it suggests he was playing the Travis sort of role. Done well to bag 2, and that makes it 3 goals and an assist in 7.8 league games (equivalent minutes, 11 actual appearances) for the u18s this season. Only 17 years old. Made the bench for the seniors against Preston. Could be one to watch?

Obviously I didn't see the game, so I can only guess, but I was under the impression that Vare normally plays more the Szmodics role, and Farkas is more of a playmaker.  So its possible the google line up had them mixed up based on their squad numbers?

We are through now after Stockport only managed a 4-1 win. Will be interesting to see if Stockport. Sunderland and Bromley are in the next draw.

They are not in so did Rovers understand the qualification process.

Anyways we play Charlton away in the last 16

I do feel a bit sorry for the Academy lads and manager. They seem to get a few pastings when a change of style is forced on them. When they start getting to grips with it. Boom a new manager and a new style so more pastings.

Hopefully the Ismael change has less of an impact as I think both teams (U18 & U21)are on the up

Entirely possible, I can't imagine Google are paying too much attention to our u18s lineups. They've certainly got things like that wrong before.

it`s  strange that dennis has`nt   been involved with the u21`s at all ,he desperately needs some match sharpness,it`s looking like a daft signing tbh.he`s going to be out of action for another 2 games due to his red card (harsh one to be fair to him)

Should be one game though I think. Two yellows is an automatic one match ban isn't it?

Perfect chance to have got some proper minutes in him though, as it doesn't apply to youth games.
