Point is we need to develop them anyway, to sell them. And need to avoid losing them as early as we are. Until we can get new owners.

I still think that it is more important to develop players to play in our first team. Whatever level that is at, so be it.

What has happened to Tyjon?

A lot of noise in the summer and him signing his contract was a big deal. Has he been injured or just not kicked on?

Been injured for quite a while by looks of it?

Calf injury, been injured for 2-3 months

Prior to his injury, he had 6 goals in 14 this season, (one of those 14 games being his 1 minute Championship debut) which for a 16 year old at U21 level isn't too bad at all

Gilsenan isn't making it here unfortunately.

He will be 22 when next season starts with a horrible history of injuries and barely kicked a ball at professional level.

Needs to move on for the sake of his career.

I feel like weve had the same situation for about 3 years now with him. People get really excited about him with very little to back it up, gets injured but then theres talk about him being back for pre season and making his mark then.

Feels like Leonard is falling into the same trap.

There's been plenty to back it up, he's a talented player. However, he can't seem to stop getting injured, so it will amount to nothing for us.

‘It’s like two new signings in the building. They’re both set for huge seasons and it’s meant we didn’t need to dip into the transfer market’. Steve Waggott, speaking to WATR, August 2025.

Guessing that the same fitness/medical people look after all the squads?

We seem to have an extraordinary number of injuries both long term and recurring right across the board.

Have we got the best people possible in place, or the cheapest? 😞

On the Arte Laboure podcast Gestede was stressing that we need to get academy players into the team and that there was disappointment that Eustace used so few youngsters.

Question I have is who is ready for first team? Tyjon I suppose will be in and around. Anyone else any posters can see getting over a couple of hundred first team minutes next season?

Another higher up telling the manager which players he should and shouldnt play.

Its a conflict of interest to supposedly want to win games and also to give youngsters x number of minutes if those players arent ready to play in the Championship.

I think he means - “ In the first team “.

Which is terrifying as clearly very few of them are up to standard and / or ready judging by their loans.

If Tyjon is playing in the Championship at 17 and holding his own he won't be playing for us when he's 18. Of course the aim might just be for him to play at 17 so they don't have to fork out for an experienced CF for the bench...
