I can't believe that this is true... wouldn't make any logical sense whatsoever. However if true it would be a disaster.

If true, I don't think It would be very good, but I think calling it a disaster is going a bit far.

Academy is being downgraded to cat2, thoughts people?

Looks like you’re posting this on other topics. Come on say where you’ve got the information from. Or should we just ignore you. Funny it’s on the same day as other graduate signs his first contract.

Half of our first team came through our academy.

It's the only part of the club that is at premier League standard. If not sold, the training ground may still be ok.

I was hoping on a good crop of academy players to get us promoted one day.

Without our top tier academy, the rest of the club, apart from our history, is currently second tier at best.

I was just told on Saturday by a chap who’s very involved with the academy side of things at the club, doesn’t work at the club, but attends every game and knows people who are involved in the set up and he’s been told it’s being downgraded to cat2, as cat2 means the club don’t have to spend the same level of money but can still play similar level opposition.

With the off field organisation we currently have, I doubt we will ever get to the premier league. The status of our academy is the least of our problems.

Great win tonight 0-2, it takes the pressure off the West Ham game on Friday. With a couple of minutes plus injury time to play, we take off an attacker and bring on a defender. We hold on to the lead, who'd have thought it.

Forum ITK-ers. The floor is yours, as you’ve been telling us about all the fantastic changes incoming, so the Academy, our final remaining crown jewel, Jack’s vision flourishing with a team full of graduates, of course, won’t be downgraded?

Seems hard to believe after Revidge Blue told us that there were going to be positive developments at the club over the summer.

Perhaps not, if Rev is actually Waggot, and the positive development is he is giving himself a big fat pay rise 😉

Not that I'm casting aspersions about a longstanding and bona-fide member of this board, of course. But you never know who anyone really is, till you meet them in the flesh.

Fantastic changes for the worse?

If it is true, that the downgrade is happening to save on costs, that suggestion has only come from two people, IMO.

The two noble, salt of the earth, "put your money away Balaji, you've done enough for us, we can do it cheaper", tossers who need throwing out of our club.

I don't believe that the owners, who have no interest in any aspect of the club, have suddenly decided to downgrade the academy to save on a few bob.

Yep, I said this when the training ground was sold.  It's obvious they want to develop one of the sites into real estate, they've been murmmurring for ages.

Some people on here said it didn't matter and we would stay Cat 1 the owners were adamant.....I don't even think the owners know what category we are.....Tesco and Mogadon are at the wheel......new contract incoming when we string a couple of wins together
