Does anybody have an assessment of Ethan Walker? It looks like he suffered an injury in the game against Porto in mid-November. Doesn't look as though he's recovered from it, yet.

Lucky to get a deal here, its likely his PNE connections that now work here had a lot to do with it.  For me, he will be released and end up at a Stafford or somewhere in the National or National North.

I would start Markanday and Buckley at Bristol City on Saturday

Personally against Bristol, I would start Markanday with either Diaz or Gally as a front two pairing, with Dack just behind them. Three in mid field, and a back four. We are in desperate need of a good performance and a win.

Who supply the width on the pitch? full backs?

Stick to playing 4-2-3-1. Markanday would start on the right. Diaz on the left. either Vale or Dolan up front

A. Wharton was down watching 1st half with his foot in a protective boot.  Some decent performances

that isn't good news.

You win the game through the middle. Play the players in their best positions. It is no good having a supply from the wings if there is no-one there to take advantage of it.

Markanday plays from the right. You witness that yesterday. He isn't a striker. BBD plays his best from the left but yet you want then both up front with no width and given that Bristol City play 3-5-2 would make it easy for them.

With one or two exceptions you could drop any of the starting 11 and they couldn’t complain.

You could drop 3 or 4 very easy from yesterday starting 11

An entertaining match at the Academy today in which Everton played their part. It was a pleasure to watch a Rovers team playing progressive football through the lines and going long when required, a total contrast to the tripe we saw yesterday. Some decent performances from Rovers who played with some intensity and put in lots of aggressive challenges, again a total contrast to the players yesterday. Tomasson was there and significantly Markanday and Phillips were withdrawn in the second half presumably to protect them for Bristol next Saturday. I would like to think the way we played might have some influence over him but the realist in me says no chance he will.

So you keep saying, but the wide forwards system has not worked regularly, so a change is called for. If you do not agree with this, fair enough it is your opinion. No need to reply, or we will go round and round in boring circles, of who's opinion is most valid.

Interestingly Edun was stripped to play and on the team sheet but didn't play. I saw him going to a car about forty minutes before the game and didn't see him after that. I'm speculating here but I wondered if he is going out on loan and it was decided not to risk him.

Yes. I like Vale. You don't rate him. fair. we won't agree on him but do we need to discussing it on here tho. No we don't cos its utter pointless.

I would start either Vale or Dolan but depends if we bring in a striker this week.

I don’t rate Vale either. What does he bring to the party ? He’s not quick, he’s not tricky, he’s not physical, he’s not good in the air. What is he good at ?

I asked my son what he thought about Vale -  after about a minute deep in thought he said - “ Well, he’s better than Hirst “ . I rest my case.
