One is that we seem to have agreed to surrender any home advantage by playing a 1 legged final at their ground - in the past these have been 2 legged finals. It is also annoying that it comes the day after our trip to Millwall, making it a nightmare to get to and it will be hard to get a train back from there at night. I'd have liked to have gone to the final and also to Brentford's new ground but seems Rovers are happy to just go with the flow. Did Rovers have a choice? Quote

Already got train booked back from Millwall I am not sure exactly how it is decided, a toss of the coin or a lottery type draw, between the two finalists. I would have thought you would have been able to change the date of your train ticket, as you will still be taking the same route. Edited May 3, 2023 by rigger Quote
bluebruce Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Bizarre. If it's only one leg, it should be at a neutral venue, ideally somewhere roughly in the middle of the two clubs. Quote

That would mean both sets of fans having to go to the expence of travelling. Hardly anyone goes in the first place. Home advantage is not a big thing at U21s level. Quote
Mattyblue Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Convoys of coaches from north and south heading to Villa Park for the big PL 2 Cup final. 😁 1 Quote

Home advantage is not a big thing at U21s level. And it would mean our fans spending half as much on travel. Playing on a pitch you're used to playing on, and less travel time for your players, is always going to be an advantage, whether big or not. A neutral venue is the only fair way to do it. 1 Quote

A neutral venue may be fair, but it is probably not economically viable, for an U21s game. Quote

JamieUK Posted May 4, 2023 Posted May 4, 2023 The U21s have the second worse record at home in the league. Away they're fifth and have won the last 3. I get there's disappointment that a lot of fans won't be able to go but I don't think it's going to impact the team too much. 2 Quote

bluebruce Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 3-0 now, bit embarrassing for the young lads. Doesn't sound from the LT's report that it's a fair score at this stage, we seem to have had more attacks, but says some of the defending has been really poor. Litherland seems to be a CB, so I'm guessing he's no Ash Phillips... 1 Quote
