Seems to have been replaced by a 16 year old Michalski in the U21s now. Easthams height has always been against him being a sub 6ft (I think) keeper At 22, he's a bit far along in his development to only be playing at that level and have any real chance of making it here. Makes it seem pointless that we contracted him to 2025 in March. Imagine Hilton will be the u21 keeper when Pears is back. Quote

If Eastham is too old for U21s level at 22, Hilton is a relative geriatric at 24, lol 😉 The contract decision for Eastham does look strange given which level he has ended up at on loan Quote

I didn't mean he is too old to play in our ressies. Hilton probably isn't going to make it here either, but at least he's been trusted to sit the bench while Pears is out. 1 Quote

Might want to take a look around the first team squad before complaining that we don't develop our own... 2 Quote
bluebruce Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 (edited) Great day for Rory Finneran, making his debut at 15 years. Apparently makes him our second youngest ever player according to one tweet, or the youngest according to some others...not sure which is true. Newcastle are apparently sniffing around him already. Hopefully the appearance today makes him feel more like staying, rather than merely drawing more attention to him, as we will get relatively bugger all for him until he has signed a pro deal I believe. This was just a few month’s ago so Rory must now be the youngest… (Either that or the club got it wrong 😁) 1 Quote

Good for him. That would make it especially frustrating if our youngest ever debutant got poached by a top Prem side for sod all before he even got going for us. Hopefully he sees it's better for him to break into a Championship side and earn a move to a club actually willing to pay a proper fee for him. 3 Quote

Personally, I think it's disgraceful we only gave a 15 year old their debut and made them the youngest player in the club's history. Where are all the 14 and 13 year olds we're developing? 3 Quote

I'm grasping at straws here but Rory joined Rovers at 8 years old while Ash was 12, so hoping there's some loyalty there. Seems like GB/JDT are trying to show him there's a 'clear pathway' here too, so hopeful he's mature enough to try his luck here and he'll be replacing Tronstad in three years time. 1 Quote
bluebruce Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 Just seen an interview with Rory Finneran about his debut, and you can definitely tell from that he's just a kid 🤣 Interesting that he has no trace of an Irish accent and sounds like he's from here, but he has been with us since he was about 8. Anybody know where he was born? 1 Quote

only2garners Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 He's at school in Altrincham, so I assume he was born around there. If he had been born in Ireland and moved over when he joined Rovers he would hardly have moved there. Quote
davulsukur Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 Under 18's playing the Dingles right now. Went 1 up after 50seconds but have conceded twice (in true Rovers fashion) to be 1-2 down. Quote

Anybody know where he was born? He's from Altrincham and goes to the boys catholic grammar school there. I guess his family must be of Irish extraction but locally settled? Could have been born in Ireland then moved here I guess? Wonder if he turns out to be the next Declan Rice if he will similarly reconsider his allegiance in later life? Quote

It's the U18's Lancashire cup or something. We're 3-2 up now.. davulsukur Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 We won 3-2 Junior Nsangou with 2 goals and an assist. Zack Stritch with the winner. 4 Quote

He has played a few games for the U21s, despite still being an U18 player, but hasn't yet started banging them in at that level (2 goals in 12 appearances over the past 2 seasons) U21 stats - 2 goals in 12 appearances over the past 2 seasons https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-nsangou/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/936903/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB21&pos=&trainer_id= U18 stats - 11 goals in 30 appearances over the past 3 seasons https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-nsangou/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/936903/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB18&pos=&trainer_id= He may get there, but based on how many goals Leonard and Vale both scored at U21 level, I would guess that Nsangou is currently a long way from being a first team option. Maybe he will get there in the next couple of years? Edited January 9, 2024 by KentExile Quote
