thenodrog Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Don't agree with that, we're not the same club anymore. We're a middling Championship club with no money and under a transfer embargo. Todays equivalents of Tugay,Friedel etc wouldn't touch us and we couldn't afford them. I'm sure everybody knows this blueboy, but I'm equally sure that not many can fully grasp it. Yet. Salgado was decent but short lived due to age and hardly pulled up trees, Nzonzi was a very good find imo. Benj and Jacobsen not so great. Did a basic squadies job. Not a patch on Neill for example who contributed much more to Rovers. And if you give Allardyce credit for Jones then you have to give Souness credit for Duff and Dunn. To be honest to they were all massive talents who any competant manager would use. Souness brought much better players to the club whichever way you look at it. Souness enjoyed much more financial clout.... and particularly when we were in the Championship. However as far as signings Mark Hughes was the Daddy of them all.

tomphil Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Stig Inge byornabye was pretty @#/? I actually thought Stig was ok, remember at the time Souness was messing about trying anyone and everyone at left back without much success. We were crying out for someone who could do the job so Stig was welcome at the time. Useless going forward and passed a lot of balls into the riverside when trying to send them down the wing but defensively I though he was pretty sound.
Iceman Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 i cant remember now, but who signed Hakan Sukur and Dino Baggio?
Amo Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 i cant remember now, but who signed Hakan Sukur and Dino Baggio? Souey.
Iceman Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Souey. Dino baggio, what a signing. Him and Barry Ferguson, hmmm we really have had quite a few duds come into the club.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted May 25, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted May 25, 2015 Norwich 2-0 up in the play-off final....
Waggy76 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Dino baggio, what a signing. Him and Barry Ferguson, hmmm we really have had quite a few duds come into the club. Ferguson is a world beater compared with the midfield dross at the moment !
perthblue02 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Norwich 2-0 up in the play-off final.... Decent game as well, could do with Boro scoring to liven it up a bit more now
Backroom DE. Posted May 25, 2015 Backroom Posted May 25, 2015 Norwich should have gone up automatically with the squad they have. Boro look clueless going forward at the moment. Norwich are easily snuffing out the Bamford/Vossen threat and look dangerous when they break forward.
perthblue02 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Dont know if it's right, but read somewhere that Norwich and Boro have done a deal that the loser today gets to keep the gate receipts instead of splitting them obviously minus the football league / wembley cut
frosty Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Norwich should have gone up automatically with the squad they have. They would have done if it wasn't for an over-promoted coach holding them back.......
Backroom DE. Posted May 25, 2015 Backroom Posted May 25, 2015 What an awful half for Middlesbrough. Long ball after long ball, easily dealt with by Norwich. Their fans must be gutted, getting to a playoff final and performing like this. Incidentally, Boro haven't come back from being 2-0 down since 2006.
NEARREY Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Premier league teams will be happy, £24 million in parachute payments shared between each one. Due to Norwich saved as they come straight back up! Should change the rule and share it between the Championship clubs.
tomphil Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Or even better stick it into a fund designed to help those lower down the football pyramid. That really would be seen as the Premier league giving back seeing as it's an unexpected bonus.
Backroom Silas Posted May 25, 2015 Backroom Posted May 25, 2015 Depressing flashback of the day: At the end of Nov with 19 games played in Champ (40% of season)- Rovers were 6th in the league and unbeaten in 6 games. Watford were 2 pts behind us having lost 4 on the bounce and only won 1 in 6. Norwich were 4 pts behind having lost 3 of last 4 games and only won 1 in 6. Both of them will be in Prem next season and we will likely all begin the season worrying about relegation to league 1. I know they say you should never look back in life only forward, but i can't help myself. It's so frustrating. 40% of season gone and we were sat in prime position. And then it all went to crap!! Gutted.

blueboy3333 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Not really arsed who went up but pleased for Martin Olsson. His mum died a couple of months ago so it must have been a pretty awful time for him. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/norwich-city/11626759/Middlesbrough-v-Norwich-Martin-Olsson-seeking-bittersweet-glory.html

Especially since he's been our only consistent performer besides the front two.
chaddyrovers Posted May 25, 2015 Author Posted May 25, 2015 Good on Norwich for getting promote. Not seen any of the game due to travelling to Scotland on a family holiday.
yoda Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Good on Norwich for getting promote. Not seen any of the game due to travelling to Scotland on a family holiday. While you are there, throw this idiot in one of the Lochs However, the SNP's Mr Humza Yousaf, the party's Europe minister in the Scottish Parliament, urged the government to reconsider. He told BBC News: "Excluding EU citizens, many of whom live here for a number of years, pay their taxes, their children attend local schools, to disenfranchise them over their own future in this vote is illogical, is utterly perverse and creates a democratic deficit." He added: "We don't want to enter into the rhetoric of division and I think that's exactly what this franchise aims to do."

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted May 25, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted May 25, 2015 Not surprising, absolutely unforgivable them not getting promoted with that squad, especially when they were so far ahead for ages....
Mercer Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Those 2 teams didnt want stability , instead they went out and acquired new managers ! Nail on head. I still maintain a 'proper' manager would have taken Rovers very, very close. At least the Bowyerettes will be happy.
Dunnfc Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Season is over... We are sticking with Gary. FACT Lets give him the first ten games next year, surely he deserves that, I'm still behind Gaz for the record.
