[Archived] Season tickets again!

Recommended Posts

I find it perplexing that in April and early May the message board is full of complaints of "we've not released our season ticket details".

Then during late May and throughout June it's "don't think I'll renew" .

If this is the mood of the majority of fans, them why the trauma of when will details be released?

For what is worth, I renewed my own, my parents, and a Dubai resident within a few days of the online system being available. The paper based version was irrelevant although I am pictured on it.

The likelihood is the club will need us when this lot finally bail out. At the moment I don't really see what difference it makes whether a few hundred on here renew or not. The reality is thousands of empty seats again next season.

We won't be buying ours this season due to not living in the area anymore, but you can be assured that if Venkys left tomorrow I’d be signing up for season tickets for that very reason marton.

The club is in a state of limbo at the moment, fans are torn between supporting the club and not supporting Venkys, but soon enough the time will come for the fans to show support for the club to help its survival, lets hope everyone stands up to be counted, I know we will.

In my opinion - when this lot finally bail out it will be too late. They are not going to walk away and say 'don't worry about the debt' - they would liquidate all assets currently owned by Venkys London limited to recover as much of their cash as they can - which means selling Ewood, brockhall etc.

As I said before, I think those waiting for Venkys to shuffle off before thousands of waiting Rovers fans flock to Ewood again and bring back the good times are waiting for something that won't happen.

The only way we would potentially get saved by Venky's leaving is if someone rich, generous, clued-up on football and slightly mad bought us - and an empty Ewood is not going to encourage bids.

I accept fans' right to stay away, but I think the idea that it will force a change which will bring back the good times is an unrealistic one.

Lot of talk about venk

Venkys have become a convenient scapegoat gav. The glory days are gone, the plastics who turned up with Jack's millions are disappearing like spit on a griddle and BRFC support is simply falling back to the meagre levels of die hards seen in the seasons following our relegation in 65/66. There were no venkys then were there? If you believe that the support will miraculously return to the numbers of a few short years ago should the venkymob ride off into the sunset then all I can say is that you are deluding yourself.

I can't believe what I'm reading. Convenient scapegoat? Plastics disappearing? You were one of the first to make noises that Venkys were no good - as early as when the first went onto the Ewood pitch, and one of the first to stop buying a ticket because of Venkys. You even protested - at least you say that you did. Now you are one those firmly on the side of those blaming the fans.

We are stuck with them, there is nothing convenient about it. Venkys are our life support machine and nothing more and having brought chaos are now intent on ignoring us to death. They've installed a manager who has taken away the final thing they could take: entertainment. It's like watching a game of cricket where the night watchman stays at the crease. Forever.

I was simply stating fact, if Venkys go the club will need our support and the Gav household won't be found wanting. We'll happily shell out £1500 even though we'll not see many home games, but I'd not even consider it whilst they're still at the helm.

As for plastics and glory hunters, I think far to many people don't appreciate just how healthy our support is given the right circumstances. The initiatives run by the club in 1990's ensured a whole generation of support has been captured, look at the age of the fans when we kick off in August, 20/30yrs mainly or 65/75 if you're Jack Walker upper!

The Liverpool game proved the point, we have the support, we just need new owners.

Never bothered with Sky Sports, on the rare occasions Rovers are on and I cannot make the game then I go to one of my neighbours cottages to watch it.

Indeed the TV is going soon. Telly these days is a waste of time and licence money.

you know block bbc1 and ch4 you have no need to pay for your tv licence, and add a prayer room no council tax,its easy this dodging

Correct them initiatives gained fans which now we are fastly losing thanks to Venky's but our support base is still there as was proved against Liverpool but people won't go week in week out under the current situation.. We need a spark the Liverpool game gave it slightly but we never kicked on and made a late play offs run.. The feel good factor didn't last long

The Liverpool game was a one off Gav. These kind of gates happen everywhere from time to time. Let's see where our gates are in a couple of seasons if things continue as they are.

It takes a long time to build gates at rovers Gav. Without PL football we'll struggle to attract fans in any real kind of numbers. The main problem is trying to attract youngsters. Throughout the PL years the kids around Blackburn and all the surrounding towns were eager to support the club. The longer lower league football goes on, the more these youngsters will go back to supporting Man U, Man C, Liverpool. We'll have a situation where the fans who have walked away won't come back whatever the situation, while the youngsters around the area won't be interested. That situation is very, very difficult to turn around. You should know that.

Just as an aside - pre Venkys there were kids with rovers shirts all round Leyland. I can't remember the last time I saw one here. They're disappearing fast.

The 20 and 30 something's are busy having kids den, those kids will support the same side as dad. You can't just dismiss the Liverpool game attendance either. The club has not been in such a sorry state since the mid 80's and yet we could have sold more home tickets for that game.

Support isn't something I worry about, the fans will turn out if the product is good, improving the product should be the objective and you won't do that until the owners sod off.

Once they're gone Gav, they're gone for a long time. The product was there when Ardiles and Archibald came, but the kids were all watching Man U and Liverpool. I seem to remember the hope at Ewood was that the extra attendance would pay their wages, but it didn't. They'll turn out for the occasional "biggie" but apart from that it will take PL football to get them back. Something the fans who were happy to see the best managers and best players leave the club really should have thought of.

So if you're not worried, I guess you're thinking that the owners will be gone in the short- to medium-term?

The product was there when we signed Ardiles and Archibald I agree, but we'd been in the mire since the 60's, had no historic support to draw on really after decades of rubbish on the pitch.

Its completely different now having been in the big league for 25yrs, yes some of that support has tailed off, but they're still Rovers fans and will turn out like they did against Liverpool of the circumstances are right.

So if you're not worried, I guess you're thinking that the owners will be gone in the short- to medium-term?

Yep, fingers crossed Bryan :tu:

Am I right in thinking you don't go much these days? If Venkys went and we got new owners would you be tempted back? I think you would if the board room got sorted, the communication and ambition was outlined.

I think we have many fans just like you Bryan, if indeed you don't go much these days, if you do I apologise :tu:

Not been to Ewood for ages. I've just bought my first house, so that's where most of my money has gone over the last few years. As well as not even being in the country.

I want to come back to Ewood to at least see one game, no matter how bad things are. Once I've pad for rising damp treatment, got the shed renovated, bedroom ceiling replaced and god knows what else.

If the owners went and the corridors were scrubbed with bleach and the picture of ol' Ma Venky was taken down and I was allowed to deface it, I'd be more inclined to attend. But I've normally favoured away games as it costs a mint to come up these days. But then I'm not too keen on the away atmosphere these days.

I recently moved across the Pennines and despite a history of buying season-tickets (35 successive seasons including last season) I have purchased season tickets for me and my wife for Bradford City. I will make Ewood for the odd game but travel time and wanting to attend games with family (all Bradford fans) swayed me. I'm pretty sad about aspects of the decision but it's made now.

However two tickets cost me less than my Jack Walker stand ticket alone. Bradford are only charging £149 and hope to have sold 17,500 tickets by the start of the season. Bradford is a much bigger place but the team is made up of free transfers and loanees and in a lower league. But .... they have local owners who have an affinity for the club.

I'll never cease to be a Rovers fan but other things have conspired to move me elsewhere.

Would I have made the same decision if Rovers hadn't been so badly damaged over the last few seasons? Uncertain.

I remain hopeful but will be observing from a distance I'm afraid.

That comparison hurts ....

I don't get it, could never do it, just not the same.

I'd rather watch a different sport than watch a different football team.

Just my opinion.

I've moved away but I'm excited at the prospect of travelling to Ewood and doing more away games.

At least your not justifying it in the surreal logic Vinjay tried. You're just bored shitless of Venkys and Bowyer is seems.

Not really, I've never moaned about Bowyer. It's mainly external reasons. To be truthful I may hate it and be back at Ewood. I can't see me being a committed Bradford fan ever but at least I can share a match day with family which I can't at Rovers.
