[Archived] Season tickets again!

Recommended Posts

I recently moved across the Pennines and despite a history of buying season-tickets (35 successive seasons including last season) I have purchased season tickets for me and my wife for Bradford City. I will make Ewood for the odd game but travel time and wanting to attend games with family (all Bradford fans) swayed me. I'm pretty sad about aspects of the decision but it's made now.

However two tickets cost me less than my Jack Walker stand ticket alone. Bradford are only charging £149 and hope to have sold 17,500 tickets by the start of the season. Bradford is a much bigger place but the team is made up of free transfers and loanees and in a lower league. But .... they have local owners who have an affinity for the club.

I'll never cease to be a Rovers fan but other things have conspired to move me elsewhere.

Would I have made the same decision if Rovers hadn't been so badly damaged over the last few seasons? Uncertain.

I remain hopeful but will be observing from a distance I'm afraid.

It's a free world and everyone can do what they want but please don't continue to refer to Yourself as a Rovers fan if you've given up on us and purchased season tickets for Bradford City. Due to changing circumstances you're now a Bradford City supporter with a passing interest in Blackburn Rovers.

Like I say, each to his own but I find that extremely strange especially after a lifetime of supporting another Club. If I ever stopped supporting us, that would be it for live football for me, unless I occasionally got a freebie somewhere. I wouldn't even put money into the coffers of another Club by buying a walk on ticket, let alone a season ticket!

There are a couple of hundred teams more local to me than Rovers, but I wouldn't accept a season ticket for any of them, even if it was free.

Proud to say I am a Rovers season ticket holder. The club has lost its way, but it's still my club.

The middle of June, when we're 8 weeks removed from the end of the season and 6 weeks from the start of the next, is the time we all start wondering whether or not going to Rovers is worth it, or fun, or even cost effective.

Come August 8th when I wake up Saturday morning ahead of the Wolverhampton Wanderers game, I know that I'll be sucked right back in!

I'll just have started my hols and won't be back till some time in sept. Season starts way too early. After this year things will be different and I won't be away in august but stil tied to school holiday dates this year and we don't finish till late July. I think there may well be a lot of folk still on their hols in early august

17,500 season tickets sold? Good effort by Bradford and their fans, who along with us have been renowned for cheap tickets for years.

I have absolutely no doubt we'd have similar ticket sales if we had everyone pulling in the same direction.

A manager capable of getting us up, a board room with real competent football people in it and owners that actually gave a ****.

The fans know whats required :tu:

Mmm, all this hand wringing, comments on what a mess we are, all venkys fault, Bowyers a tosser (i agree there) players leaving,

1 trillion in debt, club about to disappear up its own arse, bloody hell cant you just tell there's just nothing going on, no news, nothing, so we just repeat something someone else has printed but in a different way and it sounds worse, like sheep going to the slaughter,

well you either go and support or don't go. we all have an opinion, fair enough, but as a message board this is getting pretty dull, now look what iv'e done exactly the same doh, ffs something happen. :angry2:

Fully agree. It would be like a breath of fresh air. The fans would come flooding back. But we can't faff about forever. As others have said, there is little to believe in or get excited about. But that would change the instant serious intent to improve was shown. The best way to do that would be to recruit a new manager and target him with automatic promotion. Allardyce is lurking about Gav. With the exact same players we would get a lot more points.

People are talking about season tickets / renewal issues. Pretty obvious they will explain the reasoning behind their decisions and thoughts. Long standing fans of many, many years.

If your saying it's a boring topic then fair enough. To me, the wider subject of the club is of far more import at this time than whether a lad from Barnsley signs on. That includes income streams and attendances.

I'd have him back tomorrow OOJ, as long as we agree to sack him once he takes us up :P

I was at Ewood today and was told ST sales "are better than at this time last year".

Some good news hopefully.

Who knows, a few of those that went to the Liverpool game caught the bug again?

They were all sent a ST pack, I presume?

Sorry chaps it was my attempt at being, well funny, just as well I don't have a job as a comedian eh, btw I am also a long standing Rovers fan of some 50+yrs now, so I think I know one or two things that have happened in the past, the good, the bad and now the ugly, but importantly I still go, renewed my ST and my son is also a Rover, I am off to Koh Samui on Saturday with my Rovers shirt packed, Sad I know - it still gets a positive reaction though - iconic.

I fully expect to turn up at Bradford and watch a game as a slightly interested spectator, not as a fan. It's just something to do with family. Question - thousands of Rovers 'fans' don't attend games, do you discount all who don't go to every game? Glad to see you have placed yourself as judge and jury in my case. I guess you will be glad to see the back of the likes of me. I have a family who attend Valley Parade and I'm going to be with them, my first choice was to pack in live football.

The truth is I am just as likely to dump the Bradford tickets and be back to Ewood. I suspect you wouldn't welcome me back.

Well if the rumours about selling Cairney are true we have just lost another two thousand season ticket sales..

Just had an acknowledgement that my pack has been received as well.....

That's 3/4 million of the fee gone straight away.

I'm sorry, but I just cannot see 2,000 people NOT renewing on the back of a player leaving who was average at best last season. I've no doubt season ticket sales will be down this year, however a 20% drop off because of selling Cairney isn't going to happen.

Now if Cairney, Gestede, King, Marshall and Rhodes all go then you could well be right :(

And that would just show how fickle Rovers fans are.

People say about ambition from the owners - where is the ambition from the supporters - they should put their money where their mouth is and buy a season ticket.
