Mercer Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Great win today - even better for having Rovers for the win and 3-1 ! We are on a roll and the dream lives on. Wembley three times in a season - going to lie down in a darkened room for a bit.

Wembley three times in a season - going to lie down in a darkened room for a bit. Has Mercerman's account been hacked? So much positivity.
Stuart Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I'd also like to point out that we won 3-1 today playing 4-4-2. To me it seems like all our best results and performances come with this formation, I can't see why some are dead set on maligning it. This team is much stronger going on the offensive. Big test for us on Tuesday, especially with the mounting injury list and fixture list. Completely agree. Two goalscorers is a consistent feature of promoted Championship teams. This is the time when the depth of our squad should start to pay back.
perthblue02 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Trouble is, for every result like today you know that there is a Yeovil or a Blackpool just around the corner. Anyhow, let's enjoy tonight. Stil intrigued to know when we last won 4 in a row in the league. Could really galvanise the club if we can do it on Tuesday. September/October 2007 http://www.statto.com/football/teams/blackburn-rovers/2007-2008/results also won 2 League cup games either side and one UEFA cup game in a 7 match winning streak
Gav Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Those wins only underline my point. We were clear underdogs in those matches. Do you not think playing at Anfield adds pressure? Live on TV against premiership sides? All pressure situations I'd eager. Has Mercerman's account been hacked? So much positivity. He's been in the pub!
Stuart Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Do you not think playing at Anfield adds pressure? Live on TV against premiership sides? All pressure situations I'd eager. He's been in the pub! Pressure comes from expectation, so zero pressure against PL sides GAV. We are expected to lose. Even Rovers fans expected us to lose! All the pressure is on them - and it has shown.
thenodrog Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 watching that as well now 4-0 , Villa look a new team that new manager has certainly toughened them up, apparently wouldn't cut it in the championship though I do rem as a young player in 91 Sherwood couldn't. He was hopeless. After promotion his twin brother the proper footballer took over.
Stuart Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I do rem as a young player in 91 Sherwood couldn't. He was hopeless. After promotion his twin brother the proper footballer took over. Objection: irrelevant.
matt83 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Brilliant win. an away win to a team bang on form. Looks like Bowyer has got it spot on again. Those calling him Tinkerman who can't handle pressure are beginning to look increasingly silly. COYB There's no pressure anymore because the league season is over thats the point when we had a chance and so there was pressure we bottled it.

We coped very well. pressure again today and again we coped very well. There's no pressure anymore because the league season is over thats the point when we had a chance and so there was pressure we bottled it. if we beat Brentford we're five points off the play-offs. We also have Ipswich at home to play. Season far from over.
thenodrog Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Just been out cutting and splitting logs. Come in for a brew and a quick look to see who/how we are playing and I see we are leading 1-3. What a super score. Well done Roves. You need a transistor radio pb. He's @#/? don't ya know Abbey the manager is sh1t as well don't ya know? "Well done to JR, GB and the rest of todays team would be better wouldn't it?. It will be in the summer when he's gone and we're stranded. What could £8m have done in this league? Promotion? Not in Steve Keans grasp it wouldn't have. Half would no doubt be nestling in some Brunei bank vault.
blueboy3333 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 comment from a Charlton fan on their forum:- 'They hunted the ball down in packs that was key to keeping us quiet today. they did that very well'. A sure sign of progress, we used to get rolled over a lot last season away from home due to sitting far too deep. It's obviously something the coaches and players have worked hard at. We haven't got the points we deserved in a few matches on the road this season (Watford and Bolton spring to mind) but we no longer seem to be whipping boys.

So do I. although it was in 92 , one particular game sticks out Barnsley away, think it was also Duncan Shearer's debut

You do make a good point. Depends where you consider Brown is playing. He does a decent shift in attack and in midfield. 4-4-2 when we have the ball turning into 4-5-1 when the opposition have it. Just as it should be
RevidgeBlue Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 It will be in the summer when he's gone and we're stranded. What could £8m have done in this league? Promotion? Undoubtedly. All you would have had to do would have been to spend 3m on Leon Best and 5m or 6m on a Premiership quality centre half like Scott Dann. Oh errr............. hang on...................................... Making yourself look very silly now den.

There's too many ifs and maybes to say there is anything realistic to play for. 8 points is huge at this stage of the season. Plus the fact even if Brentford go into free fall we would also have to go past all of Ipswich Wolves and Forest just can't see it. At best it will be a bit like last season when again having got too far behind we put an amazing run on but still didn't get into the playoffs.

I'd have thought you'd have been keeping a very low profile after confidently predicting Rhodes would be gone by the end of the week.

I'd love to be proved wrong but I still think there's no chance whatsoever of the play offs. There's too many teams above us. One (i.e Brentford for example) may fold completely but not all. The fact we're coming with a wet sail when it's too late for the second season in succession just serves to highlight how badly we've underachieved once again.

We have to play Ipswich and Forest in our run in, could be crucial games.

That kind of thing was missing though during the first half of the season, barring the odd game. It came back v Fulham at home then disappeared again. Maybe he's now finally realised that's what's needed every game to get to the top of this division. He should have been implementing that on them from the beginning of this season. Some of it's down to the players and being confident, getting their tails up etc but a lot of it is down to him and his staff and the way coach, set up the team and there is no getting away from it.
Amo Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 It's amazing what can be achieved when everyone plays in their right positions.
Husky Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 It's amazing what can be achieved when everyone plays in their right positions. I know, especially after Marshall was forced to go to right back and Henley left back.

davulsukur Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Great win today. 3 points on the road are always welcome.
