Rover_Shaun Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Got to love how their guy ran the length of the pitch completely unchallenged for their second. Moses would have been proud

Commondore Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Both Cairney and Evans are much too high up the pitch for their first two goals, with an extra man in our midfield that probably wouldn't have happened.
Al Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I disagree, both Varney and Brown are backup to the first team, squad players, you can't have proven quality as 3rd and 4th choice at the curent Blackburn Rovers.Sorry GAV but they are both useless even as backup. With Varney and Brown on the pitch you are never ever going to score a goal. Just a waste of oxygen as strikers. I don't need proven quality as backup but these two are not even reserve team quality. Division 2 at the very best. Just get rid.

I'd have to disagree. That would have meant being even more negative, which I'm sick to back teeth of seeing! First 10 minutes, we were good (until we scored), all because we went for it. Then we sat back... and inevitable happened! KEY POINTS FROM MY VIEW -I'm starting to wonder whether fitness/ training is an issue. How much quicker did they move in comparison to us, last night (midfield especially) ? Another thing that said that fitness/ training was an issue was when Baptiste got knocked off the ball by some Brentford player, which was at least half his size. -Steele's distribution is nothing short of appalling. It's like he does a mini warm-up before every kick/ throw out. -Gestede is ridiculously lazy... I bet Rhodes does more work off the ball. These are in addition to what we already know (Bowyer can't make a sub or do tactics, Chris Brown's disabled, etc....)
tomphil Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Rhodes does twice as much off the ball as Gestede every time they play together. Bit of a prima donna is Rudy these days although he turned it on in the cup. On the midfield thing last night my mate said after about ten mins we are getting over run in there and will all night so get Taylors legs in there and try Cairney left or get Spearing on soon as, we were one nil up at the time. Didn't want to move Marshall as he was tracking back, not that it did much good though.

I thought, as did those around me, Ben was injured as soon as he slipped under their RB, didn't move the same after, and contributed to their equaliser. Yet still came out second half.....didn't make sense to me as he was far from 80% Even in the first half.
tomphil Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Bowyer said on R Lancs after the game that Marshall gashed his shin in the first half but wanted to give it a go in the second. Prob should have been hauled off in the first.
thenodrog Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Just football speak. A gashed shin would have required stitches / new socks etc and he didn't have either of those. 'Grazed' might be more applicable I'd suggest.
Commondore Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I'd have to disagree. That would have meant being even more negative, which I'm sick to back teeth of seeing! I think we could do with a bit more negativity. Two goals at home should equate a win, or at the very least a point.
bazza Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Brentford beat us for pace all the time. I saw one player hoof the ball out of his own penalty area towards the halfway line and sprint after it in the hope of trapping it as it hit the ground. I think he nearly succeeded. Who in our squad, not team, could do that? Henley or King? I think only Henley would attempt it.

Does anyone remember Tony Field hoofing it up in the air about the halfway line on the wing into the opposition box and then legging after it to catch it on the volley, just missed! It was a wet and windy night match with a pitch like glue
grizfoot Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 To be fair you could make the argument that all five goals were riddled with defensive mistakes. Our first goal was just a long hoof over the top and our second goal came after a poor clearance. It did make for an entertaining game. Credit to Brentford for being one of the few teams who have come to Ewood this season and haven't tried to slow the game down or go defensive at some point. Even at 2-2, when maybe a point would have looked decent for them having been behind twice they still continued to attack and left themselves vulnerable at the back.

savage90 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Brentford gambled to some extent, something we never do away from home. Or at Ewood.
USABlue Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I think one thing might have prevented that defeat. Eastwood.
AllRoverAsia Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Robbo every time but I would let Eastwood clean Robbo's boots. Not sure about Steele, he may drop them.
Commondore Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 ROVERS: Steele, Henley, Baptiste, Kilgallon ©, Olsson, Taylor, Spearing, Cairney, Marshall, Brown, Rhodes. Considering our league position, I hope Lenihan and/or Mahoney gets a runout today. It also seems strange to keep Eastwood on the bench if he's poised to play against Liverpool, but I suppose Bowyer is comitted to Steele as our "real" first choice keeper.

Nice of Brentford to give us a rematch.

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted March 21, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted March 21, 2015 Terrible start, couldn't pass the parcel, and now 0-1...
