Firstly- isn't it wiser to go with experience? I mean our experience of their decision making is a nightmare. Do I forget that and say ultimately that I'd rather risk another trip down "dark forces" avenue?

Explain to me how the alternative to Bowyer is "another trip down dark forces avenue?" Unless you believe such forces are still permeating the club, in which case, Bowyer is guilty by association.

The question of "is it more or less likely that a management change will improve us?"

I'm sorry to be the harbinger of doom but there is absolutely no way I can see PNE, Toffee boy and the 5000 mile away owners making the right appointment.

They don't care at all. It's evident that we mean nothing to them debt or not. Is it more or less likely that any influence from them will have a negative effect?

The club might be sleepwalking it's way into years of regression but I'm still convinced there is more chance of GB improving us over time whilst downscaling. More chance of that happening than us getting a proper board, a proper structure and an exciting rated manager.

So you have have no faith in Venky's to hire a manager, but you still have faith in Bowyer, who was given the job by Venky's? I hope the irony isn't lost on you.

That's not accepting mediocrity- what do I do? Become Mr condescending about my views yet boycott? Do I just stop having an opinion and just clap? Do I shout venkyscum till I'm blue in the face?

Whatever form of protest you do or do not take is not my business, but your feelings of Venky's aside, you could start by acknowledging that Bowyer isn't up to the job. Once you have done that, perhaps we can make some progress.

Oh and as for Berg, your twisting Toppers. If not twice as good, twice as expensive. Remember who assembled that team and remember why we are still paying for players we don't want.

I never twisted your words, it was a direct quote from yourself that Berg had a better team at his disposal than Bowyer.

I honestly think sometimes you felt Kean did a good job- it's the only explanation I have for you suggesting GB inherited something tangible for this division.

I don't know if this is an attempt to smear me, or what, but I'll indulge you. I believe there was still enough quality in that Kean side to mount a promotion challenge, yes. If he could have us 3rd in the league before he resigned, what could a decent manager have achieved?

At any rate, it's irrelevant. Bowyer has had several transfer windows to shape the team into his image. This is very much his own team now, and yet staggeringly there are those who want to give him even more time and money to "rebuild" things.

Also no mention of Bergs record. He may have been hindered by chaos, but does that fully excuse the pitiful displays? Same goes for Appleton.

I don't think you'll find many who disagree that Bowyer stabilized things where others had failed. The point is we needed someone who could take the club one step further and chase promotion. Bowyer is not that man no matter what way you slice it.

Wasn't it JBizzolo who was so against starting such rumours? Or am I thinking of somebody else?

Yes- my point being that it at least seems that our current management are making decisions for the betterment of the squad (in their eyes at least) and changing manager could let in another agent and his cronie to make decisions for the betterment of their own pocket.

Fair enough, it came across as inferring there were still dark forces at the club would could bring in another chancer to line everybody's pockets.

How many of those players yesterday came off the pitch having run themselves into the ground? any? I can't think of one...

As fans who pay good money to watch football the least we should expect is commitment, players putting in a shift, we never got that yesterday and thats just not good enough.

The dark forces now are just people on a gravy train who know they are more likely to be potted for opening their mouths.

Things aren't going well, but they are also fairly unique in terms what the solution is. That's why it provokes so much discussion.

Top man- the Kean comment wasn't a smear, you've mentioned in the past that you felt he had performed well to get us to third- I think many of us who saw it first hand would beg to differ. The horse had bolted way before he left and he was taking us one way from the start.

I think we're all in agreement that until things change at board level the club will never truly progress.

That said, the right manager could at the very least give us better performances and a shot of the playoffs, regardless of how poor our boardroom structure is. Bowyer came within a few points of it last season, so there's no reason to think a better manager couldn't have gotten us there this season.

Sadly I think our window of opportunity has passed. Next season will be very difficult if Bowyer is in charge, and I fear we'll be struggling at the wrong end of the table. A better manager might keep us in mid table or make a genuine push for the playoffs.

Would we get in a better manager in if Bowyer was to be dismissed? Based on the past you'd be hard pressed to confidently say yes. However it's reasonable to assume we will go backwards under Gary with a weaker squad and his apparent inability to learn at the necessary pace.

Chances are we're going to start sliding downwards regardless of what we do, now... so do we accept our fate under Bowyer or roll the dice and hope for the best?

I think Kean surprised everyone (including himself) with that auspicious start. We were scoring for fun, and although some of the performances left a lot to be desired, you can't argue with points on the board. Would we have kept it going? You wouldn't have thought so, but then I wouldn't have expected us to be that high in the table to begin with. Fact remains that no manager since then has topped that position, which you could interpret as praise for Kean, or a damning indictment of our managerial recruitment.

It would appear that Bowyer, in his form of wisdom, prefers NOT to use loan players, even those he brought in himself.

Now that is odd if not just plain stupid.

Bryan Dabo says: ''“The coach (Bowyer) was very honest; he told me he preferred to use players that he could rely on next season.”

http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/03/21/ag-former-blackburn-rovers-flop-reborn-in-return-to-montpellier/

In that case what was the point. Another wage thrown down the drain by an inept manager. He seems to think that wages money doesn't count like Dabo and paying Steele when he had a perfectly adequate goalkeeper that he was already paying in Robinson. Probably had the same thoughts about him for next season. Let's do the best we can this season and worry about the next one when the close season arrives.

I thought we were "a work in progress" and that we just needed "one or two additions to the squad next season"?

I said at the time you posted that guff that it would not be that way but you weren't having it.

And if a "massive" reshaping of the squad is necessary, what on earth has Bowyer been doing for 2 years?

Building up the squad you have argued!

Its simple, no matter what the results or performance, you just want Bowyer to continue in the job. Its perverse.

If we are a work in progress its moving at the speed of a glacier and neither you nor I will be around to see it.

Bowyer is Parson's mate. Pure and simple.

Come on Al, he's got an alternative view that's all, no need to take cheap shots surely.

What often gets forgotten on here is most of us want 1 thing, Blackburn Rovers to be successful.

Depends how you define 'success'.

Some want another two years of Bowyer which suggests promotion is not a target.

No it's been said before on here that Parson is a friend of Bowyers. Look back and you will find it. I did not invent it.

Parson thinks Bowyer will improve next season, you don't, but it doesn't mean Parson or anyone else doesn't want success and you know it.

Far too much willy waving on here these days, why can't people just be allowed to have a different view without being rounded on by the majority? I'm not accusing you Stuart.

If you read the posts Parson has said clearly that he has spoken to him a few times.how does that make him a mate? A little lame continually making cheap jibes about a well respected poster.

My apologies if thats the case Al, but I'm sure if Parson thought Bowyer was useless, mates or not, he'd say so.

That's big of you, Gav.

Oh, and you mentioned Parson not me but since you have let me respond.

Bowyer being in charge is not a route to promotion IMHO. Parson doesn't view promotion as a necessary target (i.e. as a measure of success) and seems to have a view that stability and mid-table "security" is a version of success. We are agreeing to disagree. Not sure why that give you the right to accuse me of willy waving since Parson and I have managed to have several exchanges without it turning into that.

Revidge

A little extreme? Everybody is hurting or angry but we can’t just shift out all 11.

1) Brown gets worse every time he plays and looked like a Pub player when he started. Should never pull on the shirt again.
2) Spearing looks like he's lost interest. See d him back and let's see if one or two young lads look like they might have what it takes.
3) Evans has been woeful all season
4) Olsson isn't good enough. Weak defensively poor final ball and goes over if anyone breaths on him.
5) Players like Marshall Conway and King are way too inconsistent over the course of a season.
6) Surely no one can really think that we have any chance of progression with Bowyer in charge. Most teams look to go forward with the ball when they get it. Our players seem to look to turn their back to the opposition goal and play the ball backwards. It's quite weird.
7) What's the point in insisting in lining up with two wide men or wingers every game then constantly punting an aimless long high ball down the middle. There's no point.
8) Spurr for Taylor at 1-0 down. WTF is that all about?

1 –yep he struggles. Not his fault though, poor lad. Always tries –Ashley Ward?

2 Spearing was trying really hard all game. He certainly made plenty of mistakes, especially early on, but was definitely trying, hustle and bustle

3 Evans certainly is inconsistent but not woeful ALL season

4 Olssen has been our best and most consistent player, offering energy, and at least some threat. Agreed his final ball can be very mixed. Also think he is quite tough given his size.

5 Agreed but let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Marshall has scored some great goals. King can be highly effective in certain situations but agreed on consistency.

6 Agree on Bowyer. As to going backward –well. Many top class sides use the keeper to retain possession, working the ball round the back line waiting for an opening.

7 Agree on hoofball –ambarrassing.

8 Long throws for Gestede; Olssen as attacking left wing.

What is clear to me, is that despite the squad’s inadequacies, some simple tinkering with shape, selection and better man motivation, this squad’s performance could be improved 20%.

It probably has, but people love talking nonsense on here. Parson himself said he has only met Bowyer on a few occasions, I don't think they're bosom buddies or anything!!

Though I can see exactly why people would think that, given the first name references which suggest closeness that I alluded to earlier.

Carthorse, eh? Isn't that the same word I used to describe him the other week? I knew you'd finally come around.

Brown played well v Bolton. Played well in a few away games too according to reports. He has only just come back after a lengthy injury and is unlikely to be up to full fitness. Yesterday he had a stinker just the same as everybody else. I commented on the entire team, you chose just to quote my Brown comment in order to suit your pathetic agenda against him. I was there and therefore I am qualified to make comment whereas you don't even know what the inside of Ewood Park looks like never mind the cost of a ticket.
