We were talking earlier on this thread, and briefly on the lambert thread, about let downs when we have had large followings at Wigan and Bolton in the recent past.

It's not just there. Two trips to Old Trafford stick in my mind.

Firstly the fa cup semi against Chelsea with the MGP header. The atmosphere had been cracking all day and had that gone in, manchester would have been amazing that night.

Also, we took another large following only to be disappointed to OT in the league cup semi final in which Saha 'shinned' one past Brad.

One a more positive note, the league cup QF at Wigan when they had the away fans down the side of the ground and Cole scored twice (I think) was a great night.

Does anyone know how many we had at Wigan that night? It seemed bigger than when we have the stand behind the goal.

My first bet was at Wigan. Fiver on a Santa Cruz hatrick that famous Christmas game! Paid me out something like 70-80quid!

Blimey Mike, that's not a great return really when you think about it. Bet you weren't bothered about that at the time though. Crazy game that one!

Didn't care haha! Plus I guess those odds made it a relatively safe bet ;)

Might be irrelevant but I just noticed that Hanley's birthday falls one day before our trip to Preston. Really hope he doesn't end up partying all night with his mates as we need our captain performing at his best come Saturday.

And, I feel a great deal is being made out of the away following. Yes, the place will be rocking but the match is not going to be easy by any means. Preston have had an excellent defence at home and haven't conceded in ages. So a draw might not be a bad result.

Was speaking to a Norwich-supporting friend of mine. He said Lambert favours formations with a sole striker(traditionally a target man type) with lots of midfield runners to support him and follows a high-tempo pressing game. Judging by that, I think it would take some time for him to get the current lot playing that way. Rhodes is not in the mould of Holt or Benteke so it'll be interesting to see how he gets him playing. I'm hopeful he'll cover Rhodes' deficiencies and get him scoring loads!

3-0 with a Rhodes hat-trick

Coyb!

We have been given an extra 1000 tickets for Saturday, due to demand, are are selling quickly

FFS already agreed to go to 'Curious Incident' at Lowry because they sold out. Damn it and double damn it!

I have seen roughly 10 posts on Facebook of people who have rang the ticket office today and purchased tickets. Extra tickets at the request of Rovers from Preston

Just spoken to the Ticket Office. We haven't been given an additional allocation. However there have been some returned so I'm now going. Which is nice.

My mates and I are planning to catch the train from Pleasington, however I'm now wondering whether the train will be full by the time it reaches Pleasington (having already stopped at Blackburn, Mill Hill and Cherry Tree stations amongst others first). Does anyone know how many carriages there usually are on that train and how likely it is to be full by the time it reaches Pleasington?

Thanks in advance.

I was going to jump on at Mill Hill but was thinking the same. A better move is the train from Blackburn, £9.40 return for me and my son - no brainer and boy am I looking forward to it.

There is nowhere extra for them to allocate at weepdale sadly, it only holds about 20k and the stand to the left of the away end is small. It's also where their tough guys locate themselves apparently, reet scary they are I bet

Yes, I think we may have to get a taxi to Blackburn station. Shame as Pleasington is a lot more convenient given that we'll be having a few pints in The Feildens before we catch the train.

Catch the Pleasington to Blackburn train then jump on the next Preston train.

The Pleasington stop is en route to Preston from Blackburn for the Blackpool South train from memory. Slightly slower but easier than trailing into Blackburn to come back the same way.

Edit: Oops sorry didn't read the original post.

Trains to Preston are usually only small so expect they will be full by Mill Hill. Going may not be roo bad from Blackburn as many will travel at different times but coming back will be a problem when unknown numbers all arrive at Preston Station at the same time.

Could do will train company putting on a few specials but don't think they do that now. Anyone know?

Going to Backpool last year mid morning was a bit of a nightmare. All carriages were full at Blackburn and, by the time we got to Blackpool, I felt a bit sorry for those who were going with their kids for a day out. I expect Saturday could be a little similar at peak times to the semi at old Trafford where you simply couldn't actually get on some of the trains.
