Ryan Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 How many of us were in the away end at Anfield on 14/5/95?. Without an ounce of bother Given the away end was full of Blackburn fans, I can't say that's too surprising
LJW Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 A lad has sked Preston Police which pubs are available to away fans. They said the Vic (near train station) & Assembly. So I'd say approx 4500 fans for 2 pubs!!
BRkyleFC Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I have a ticket now thanks for all who helped!!
Neal Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Should imagine pubs around the university would let away fans in.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I was at that game- think I was 10 at the time. We lost 6 0. Very depressing! The next time I went to maine rd we won 2-1 Iirc sean curry scored twice. I was there - unfortunately went with two City fans. Only consolation was making them wait at the end of the match (as the away fans were kept back). From what I remember it was a very strange match - were for most parts we looked to be their match - but every time they shot they scored. Obviously time plays tricks - but at the time it seemed like 6 shots on target and six goals.
yoda Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Should imagine pubs around the university would let away fans in. Is George from the Vulcan still at the Albion ? student pub, think he mighty be.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Sticking my neck on the line and going for 2-0 Rovers. I'm genuinely jealous of those attending tomorrow...be loud and proud!
Cherry Blue Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Sticking my neck on the line and going for 2-0 Rovers. I'm genuinely jealous of those attending tomorrow...be loud and proud! oHope it's game to remember and we will be loud and proud.
Ianrally Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Just watched North West news on BBC1. All about Manc and Scouse clubs. Not one mention of a Lancashire Derby between two of the leagues founder members. Shocking.
oldjamfan1 Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I was at that game- think I was 10 at the time. We lost 6 0. Very depressing! The next time I went to maine rd we won 2-1 Iirc sean curry scored twice. Almost right. Fairly certain that Patty (Mark Patterson) scored that day, memorable for the fact that he was a bit of a City fan as a kid (sorry mate, I know that isn't common knowledge apart from your old muckers lol)
unsall Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Is George from the Vulcan still at the Albion ? student pub, think he mighty be. Isn't George still at the Wellington?
AllRoverAsia Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I see that Mike Dean is the match Referee. I hope that's respect to a good local derby game in the Championship and not because he's been poor in the PL - if indeed he has been!!. I actually usually find him ok. He tends to be a bit card happy and his season high so far was Chelsea v Arsenal on September 19 when he issued 6 yellows and 2 reds.
Husky Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Sticking my neck on the line and going for 2-0 Rovers. I'm genuinely jealous of those attending tomorrow...be loud and proud! Me too. I had initially penned this one in as a definite go to game, but alas I was back home for the international break only :-( I think we're gonna slaughter them - 0-3. A great day for all the travelling fans. I'll have to make do with Rovers Player, the sun and a reggae gig later. COYB!
BigUts Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I reckon we will sneak a late 1-0. The Nobbers will come out all guns a blazing and will come close early on, but will fade and a Hanley/Duffy header will win it. They will cry they were hard done to...we will laugh [emoji23]
McClarky Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Duffy header? Now that is optimistic. Really hope we can put in a good performance with the backing we'll have today. Leaving soon, cannae wait. COYB
oldjamfan1 Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 I've still got a spare kids ticket for today. If anyone wants it they can email me on oldjamfan@googlemail.com - I will be arriving in Preston at about 12.00.
mhead Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Fascinating to see how this unfolds. From the players coming out;to the formation;to the gegenpressing(and how Rhodes fits in); and the reaction of a large positive noisy Rovers crowd. Reminds me of Souness first game at Fulham Away x 2. Five years of despair is a lot to disperse in one afternoon. But by 5pm we should have 20% of our hope back!
Claytons Left Boot Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Shades of 1974 this, when three train loads had gone over by late morning and we absolutely swamped the place. Fancy Rovers to win 1-0 with Rhodes bagging the winner. COYB !!

Fancy Rovers to win 1-0 with Rhodes bagging the winner. COYB !! If you happen to see a very drunk 15 yr old around Mcdonalds at lunch time - shouting expletives and trying to fight his shadow..... Please give Nobber a wave !!!
Backroom Tom Posted November 21, 2015 Backroom Posted November 21, 2015 Think today will be a keenly contested draw 2-2 Have an amazing day everyone
matt83 Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Years since I looked forward to a game. Can't wait.
Gav Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Just setting off from Brum, it's windy and freezing. Pub picked out, it's like the old days, got butterflies! Not expecting miracles, if we lose we lose, but it's the start of a new era and we've all got plenty of renewed optimism. Have fun fellow posters, thanks to OldJamFan who went out of his way to try and sort us a ticket. 2-0 Rovers

Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted November 21, 2015 Posted November 21, 2015 Very jealous of all of you going to this one! NHS rather rudely booked the wife in for an op on a Saturday so while you lot enjoy a beer or two and hopefully a proper Rover's performance, I am on dad duty! Have a great time folks. Sing loud and proud
