See here lies a myth with our midfield. Rhodes is a superb finisher but I can probably count on one hand the amount of times he has created a goal for himself. Rudy made one for Rhodes so who has?

Since joining us 9 teams have been promoted out of the league, they didn't have Rhodes. I love the guy but he is not the be all and end all.

If we come out of the embargo in Jan and Venkys hand over 5 million and someone offered 12 for Rhodes, suddenly you have a decent amount to improve the team vastly.

If ....

The Rhodes thing has been done to death - with rights and wrongs on both sides of the argument. As I said before - solving the Rhodes conundrum will be key to how successful Lampert is at Rovers - sell and reinvest or build the team and playing style around him - who would be a manager.

You have basically nailed it with that statement. Spot on. Depends which way Lambert wants to go.

The problem with earning £40,000 a week is if you perform anything less than superhuman-like, you leave yourself open to criticism. It is a small price to pay though for living such a privileged lifestyle, ain't it..?

Correct ....Rhodes has only scored 20 plus for the last six years ...

Derek Shaw/Blackburn Rovers need hanging from a tree for agreeing that contract.

Would you like some lemon SKH? Don't think you're quite bitter enough ;-)

Why on earth would I be bitter? I'm just making an observation on an increasing number of fans behaviour these days. Don't expect it to be popular but so what, would be a boring message board if everyone agreed all the time. Its on the verge of putting me off going completely so thought I'd comment on it. I feel massively sorry for people who want to take their kids to Rovers these days when that kind of abuse is being spat at their own team by people around them. What I find even more incredible is the muppets doing it around me barely got animated at Garner when he was trying to pick a fight with half our team. Must be the fashion these days, ignore the opposition and instead concentrate on slating your own.

I was only joking....

In any event, I never really see the point in having a go at our own players, they know what they're doing (for the most part), some of the instructions people dish out are ridiculous and are indicative of people that have never played the game imo. Garner got a fair amount of stick from folk around me, people will always get animated regarding what they see, it's just life. You'll never agree with everyone, like you say about the message board with not everyone agreeing, it's the same with footy...

It's nothing to do with wages. It's that there have been numerous bids for him over the years , with a few north of 10 million.

Naturally fans look at it and think he is worth it? Can we improve? Should we turn it down?

The same happens with every player.

Thats all when and good.

Sell ..but then just how much do we actually have to buy players ?

All depends on whether Lambert is of the strachen mindset when it comes to centre forwards. If he is then expect him to be gone in January.

See what you are saying. If he does want to sell him then he will do nothing but praise him and say he is not for sale until the window and maximise his price.

If he wants to keep him then he will praise him and say he is not for sale so don't think we can read into anything Lambert says before Jan.

i thought it was good as well. . We chose to get away from station and ended up in the Black Bull. Mainly our lot in there with a couple of cops occasionally walking through. We also went in a pub nearer the ground before and after the game. It was fairly mixed in there but no bad atmosphere at all. Just shows that don't have to treat football fans like criminals. Would be good if this was acknowledged by the authorities.

No.

you need to stop getting upset when comments are made about Rhodes, Gav and actually read and respond to the comments rather than put down the poster.

Getting Rhodes to score another 25 goals won't get us promoted Gav. It won't get us anywhere near promoted. We all know that. Lambert believes that we need to play at a higher tempo, get forward more quickly and be more positive for the whole game. He's right, that's the way to improve performances and results. Cac Rhodes fit in with that style of football? That's what Lambert has to work out. Not just Rhodes of course, but any of them. Who said Koita was good enough? A few people have said that his size and mobility dragged Preston around and gave them more to think about.

Agree with a lot of that DMTP. Koita isn't the answer, but he did highlight what a difference having someone who can run a back four and drag a back four around makes.

Sorry if you think I'm putting you down den, that's not my intention, but you do have a fixation with putting Rhodes down and he's the least of our problems.

I also thought I gave good reason for defending Rhodes against your comments that Rhodes and performance don't belong together, but maybe not.

Paul Lambert has already said Rhodes is our talisman, I agree with him, build the team around a 20 goals a season man and we're going places.

I agree Koita looked a handful physically from what bit's and pieces I've seen and I like that. We've been a soft touch physically for too long. Nobody would fear playing us at the moment. They did when we had Dickov, The Axe, Andy Todd etc. I've got say though that a striker who can't come on for the quarter of an hour and put himself about shouldn't be playing pro football. Hope Best and Nathan Blake read that.

Rhodes isn't the best man as an outlet for backs to the wall defending, but then where he lets us down there, everyone else lets us down by not helping out with enough goals ;-)

I thought we had put this one to bed but we seem to have come full circle. Rhodes form since the close of the transfer window has been great and he has put the doubters behind him by putting himself about up front and turning into that complete striker. Yet here we are again.

I'm sorry Stuart but Rhodes isn't a complete striker and he never will be. He's one paced and he's limited physically. He puts himself about as much as he can do. For a tallish guy he's an average header of the ball. If he was a complete striker he wouldn't be playing in this division.

Even Shearer who was 10 times the striker Rhodes is wasn't a complete striker. He's admitted that himself in his writings. The last complete striker I saw was Marco Van Basten before he got injured. The Brazilian Ronaldo before his " Fat Elvis " stage was pretty handy also.

Rhodes is plenty good enough to be 50% of the reason why we get promoted out of this division

On that basis he's a keeper...

The keeper think is a good analogy.

He is probably the most naturally gifted shot stopper in the league. But he can't come for crosses or kick the ball.

And thats why hes playing in this division!

Good grief...mentioning Shearer ..Van basten and ronaldo ...ffs ...

Rhodes is and will probably always be a championship player ..and that is why no one is really interested in taking him any higher ..BUT at this level he does what hes payed to do ..and thats score goals.

I left that one open didn't I....

Actually he seems to thrive on crosses- a goodly proportion of his goals are headed.
