Abbey and K-Hod, on the NHS, Haven't Conservatives promised to fund the NHS with the 8 Billion pounds that the NHS CEO wanted? Has other parties committed to fund it?

I think the argument is that the tories never really told us where they would cut to get the 8bn. I'm happy it's ended like this, the british public have come to their senses and on top of that the odious little prat Edd Balls is down the road.

Think the Scots will be worried in a few years when they realise what they voted for. Nothing to stop the Conservatives - bringing in laws that only English MPs can vote on English law.

Good. Get rid of the Barnett Formula first off just to teach em. Then the rest of the nation have a referendum about whether we bloody well want Scotland in the Union or not! Get our retaliation in first. Without us they'd be eating soil within a month.

People still think Labour were to blame for a worldwide economic crisis? How quaint. It's like blaming the current crop of Tories for last years floods

Son of Jim.

btw Better go and look in on him in the nursing home.... I hear they've taken his shoelaces, tie and belt off him and put him on constant 24 watch.

Privatise?

NHS will always be free to use under the Tories

Started by Labour K-Hod.

 LOL Chaddy.

Depends how far back you go Gav, it could be argued it was Thatcher... But the cuts to the NHS have been devastating, been to Blackburn Hospital lately?

I hope I don't get ill in the next 5 years!

I really wanted a Conservative/UKIP coalition, which looking at the number of votes UKIP got was a possibility, however a Conservative majority is an excellent second choice.

Due to the number of UKIP votes Cameron will have to take the will of the country despite the fact that in Thanet Labour voters have voted Tory just to keep Farage out.

People blame Labour for their reckless approach during the boom years. Overspending, neglecting to start a surplus, leaving the country completely ill prepared during times of difficulty. I think what has shone through in the last 24 hours is that people simply don't trust Labour after the last debacle and quite frankly they haven't done enough to convince the population that in a still precarious time, they are capable of providing economic stability, never mind protection to the Working class (whatever the definition of that is nowadays).

Miliband tied his own noose when he stated last week that the previous Labour government had NOT overspent.

Wonder what he's going to do with his 8ft tablet now - anyone got any suggestions of how it can be recycled?

How about turn it around and write the Lib Dems epitaph on it.

Put it on the Burnley coffin when relegation is confirmed, rather fitting knowing who the labour spin doctor is

Tell that to all that to the nhs workers that will be signing on shortly .

Bad call Abbey. Labour fought this election on the back of the NHS with little or no regard for the economy. Miliband not even mentioning it in his speech at the Party Conference must have struck home with many, and then saying on live TV that the last Labour govt didn't overspend put the tin hat on things. The British public have overwhelmingly shown what is most important to them.

No way. David Milliband can't come in. He will be associated with ed.

They need someone from outside the intelligencia but with braoad appeal.

Thats Ed Balls!............ .......Oh wait!

As an outsider looking at the %age that each party got, it 's time for Proportional representation.

In theory yes I agree.... but proportional representation has only ever been a theory in this country. I don't want to knock what I/we have never experienced but if people think a coalition opens up to dirty tricks and tactical voting how the hell would PR fare?

By a coalition formed for negative purposes.

To be honest what's wrong with that? If citizens in a constituency are willing to go as far as voting for their ideological opponent to keep a third party out then it says something about how much that third party are disliked.

Democracy in action.

Just watched the weather, storm clouds approaching and they'll be here for 5yrs at least.

Gideon has just arrived at No 11 with plans to cut child benefit and paternity pay, that's just for starters.

But Ed Balls losing his seat is funny, I would never trust him running the economy and he's obviously done nothing in his local constituency either!

Batton down the hatches the North of England.

Don't worry about the North of England gav for one you are leaving your urban idyll of Bastwell but we've got the North West economic powerhouse and HS2 to help us.... you save your concern for the sweaties! Maggie Thatcher saw the communist led unions bring down successive democratically elected governments through the 70's on a political agenda and set about destroying their power for the greater good of the Nation, and now the very left wing SNP are attempting to do the self same thing.

Rearrange this well known phrase chaddy................. of breath waste a.

PR is a matter of time now. The political map has changed so much that first past the post only suits the conservatives and the SNP. There will be a concerted campaign by the rest to get it on the agenda.

UKIP, Green, Lib Dem, Labour parties and voters will all be pushing for it.

My guess is one more FPTP election in 2020 where the winner promises a change to PR enacted after the election.

Electoral reform was voted on 4yrs ago Dave and rejected by the British people, can't see it being on the table again anytime soon.

Give it six months, Gav.

The only argument against it is hung parliaments, but hung parliaments make the government negotiate. Something governments don't like doing.

Think about it Gav, UKIP (and I only use them as an example) so far, (according to the last reported figures) had 12+ %age of the vote, but only got one seat!

Lib Dems 7.7% got 8

SNP 4.9% got 56!

"Other" 7.4% got 22.

How is that representative?

Farage defeated.

Thats a shame. He would have embellished the House no end. Hard to see UKIP work well without him if he packs politics in.

Democracy in action.

Hardly UKIP polled the third highest votes after the big two by a massive margin. If that is our democracy in action then it is a form of democracy which needs to be changed.

Come on Gordon, didn't see you see George Osbourne ignoring the question 17 times on how that was going to be funded? Nice of them to put some money back into the NHS after systematic cuts....

Or fear of change.

I can't improve on Gordon's comment on the need for change.

under a PR system, the state of the parties would look something like this: (I know the seats don't tally exactly, but it's pretty close)

Cons 234

Lab 201

LibD 52

SNP 32

UKIP 83

Oth 48

Wouldn't that make pollies earn their dosh!

Bit confused? I agree that UKIP should get more seats to represent their % of vote, PR is the way forward to get that.

All I am saying here is in FPTP if voters would rather vote for a sworn enemy to keep out UKIP and Farage that is their prerogative.

But against the will of a big percentage of the overall electorate. There has to be something wrong there. With that percentage of votes surely the leader of UKIP should have a seat in parliament.
