Funnily enough speaking to my old colleague who still lives in the town and a big labourite (champagne socialist really). He was less than complimentary about her. She was leader of bburn council through which the local Labour Party she would stand. While leader of the council she was on benefits and claimed expenses to the tune of £35k a year. If he is to be believed the majority of the council are. Presumably no time to work.

Not my words but he said Will she progress in politics. No. Will she do anything for the country. No. Will she do anything for the town. No. She's just voting fodder in a very strong labour area. Needless to say he wasn't a fan.

To be fair bburn has been spoilt by political big hitters from Barbara castle in the 50s to jack straw. Now a nobody.

To be honest i haven't seen or heard anything good about this kate hollern, say what you will about straw but at least he genuinely cared about the town(relatively speaking, as far as mps go) and kept the town moving forward(instead of stagnating for decades like some of our neighbouring towns) but i think his replacement is the epitome of a career politician from what i gather and is only interested in her own future. but luckily in my opinion there are some very good ward councillors(of various parties) that really care about their areas and are in it for nothing more than contributing to there neighbourhoods the best they can.

Those are two completely different issues.

Agreed. The reality is in Blackburn you could put a pig in a red rosette and it would win comfortably (fortunately for this Kate hollern). The same can be said for the Ribble valley of course just the other side of the coin in that the torys will get in regardless.

In a way both Nigel Evans and this Kate hollern are very fortunate that people are suppose to vote for the party and not the (wo)man because Evans is a drunken gay philanderer of young men and hollern sounds like a work shy self serving degenerate scrounger from rough stock. I suspect on a personal level neither of whom remotely represent those who voted for them.

Its definitely a failure of the current first past the post system. A poor MP in a very safe seat can sit back until retirement.

Beats me how such poor choices ever get the chance to stand in very 'safe' seats which lots of real political heavyweights in marginals must desire. Well actually I think that we've all got a pretty good idea how a young, fresh faced Nigel Evans got the job but I'm equally sure that nothing of that sort could ever be levelled at Kate Hollern's selection.

You mean Kate Hollerns family (brothers) are drug addicts, they had some sort of food outlet that got into trouble with the landlord presumably from Stonyhurst who threatened them with death and Kate Hollern had to plead for their lives. Because I have a food business then it must be dodgy and operating outside of the law, is that about it ?
