I know one theings for sure, if i was very intelligent, doing well in life, with money to spare and had plenty of time on my hands i could think of a million and one other good things to be doing with my life instead of bickering like a sado on here all day just to kill time.

That's some confession TJ

;)

Your nepotism point about the House of Parliament, how does that work when the MP have been voted there ?

Granted it might apply in a place like Burnley

Don't expect an answer that exists anywhere in the real world, or indeed has any basis in common sense or fact.

Maybe he's a masochist 😄😄

Geez you're boring and it isn't Wheelton.

If you don't like where you live it's simple. Move.

I think that Theno, like me is very happy where he lives. It's just that people like you pontificate about welcoming Muslim neighbours without ever having experienced a community of them living on your doorstep.

A well-measured response. Thank you. I'm with you that there are marked genetic trends which differ between races, genders etc. Perhaps in a perfect world, genes would be the sole influence on individual success. It would mean we had complete equality of opportunity and live in a true state of nature.

However,I just don't think genetics matters much at all. I'm of the opinion that in civilised society, nurture will always win over nature. Be it crime, education, employment or whatever social policy you may care to look at, we must never be sidetracked by the elements of broad generalisations and inevitability genetics provides. It would only mean taking our eyes off the ball and ignoring geniune inequalities in the system that effect many more than genetic probability ever could. We should provide equality of opportunity to all. However, with our un-level playing field, social change must remain front and centre of political debate.

That would never work because there would invariably some better than others, which in turn would lead to racism type issues with genetics as the base rather than colour of skin. I guess the tribal instinct of human beings is too strong for universal harmony.

As you know my family are from Bastwell and Little Harwood Al, why do I have a different view to you and Gordon?

I respect your opinion because you've lived with Asian neighbours and decided to move. A good friend of my dads was hounded out of his house by Asian neighbours, they ended up being jailed for the abuse.

Bad eggs in every walk of life but in the main multiculturalism is a great thing, if only more people would embrace it.

Should I tell you what made me finally make me move to a house that I really could not afford? One of my neighbours (a few doors away) told me that an Asian had knocked on his door, out of the blue, and made him a poor offer for his house. He of course refused. The man then told him that in that case he would go and buy next door and therefore devalue his house because he would have an Asian living next door. That was enough for me so I sold up and moved.

He moved because his neighbours where asian! You may respect that gav, i see it as cowardice.

I'm not sure where thenodrog comes into this? It was ABBEY who butted in to our discussion about foreign trained doctors so I'm not sure how you then jump to making the above post.

This seems to have far more to do with ABBEY'S desire to have a one line pop. As ABBEY moved from Abbey Village, which is about as multi-cultural as Wheelton, he obviously made a choice re the neighbourhood he wishes to live in.

ABBEY's not got a chip on his shoulder about leaving Abbey Village for Rishton - more like all of Jess Turners!!!

Butted in you touchy get ..? Anyone can add comments it's a message board not your private chat . I left abbey village 30 years ago , not a choice as you put it . Couldn't afford it.

One line pop "get your boring" as you said is what exactly .

No chip on my shoulder whatsoever

ABBEY could you explain the relevance of your remark "Multi Cultural Wheelton" to a discussion on the number of foreign trained doctors in the UK? It has nothing to do whatsoever with multi-culturalism.

As for not having a chip on your shoulder I haven't suggested you have but judging by your response it seems I'm probably wrong.

Abbey Village wasn't expensive 30 years ago from what I recall as it roughly coincides with when we bought our house.

NO mosques

Corrected it for you Al.

I'd hazard the nearest mosque to my house is a similar distance to the nearest to your home. Granted there's only one in Chorley against 40+ in Blackburn.
