den Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 It's the under 14s, so I don't think there's quite as much need for us to be appointing Jose Mourinho, I'm not sure exactly who would do similar roles at other clubs, bar former players. Not Jose Mourinnho , no. But there's a lot of criticism of the academy on here. Being an ex rovers player as Kinder puts forward, should have no bearing on whether he gets the job or not. Don't underestimate the role of the under 14 coaches. He'll no doubt be involved with 14 year olds and in their next year these lads, if they're good enough, will be involved in the youth cup squads, - which is a very high level of football. These coaches are so very important in giving these lads the best possible chance they can. It's a period of their development that either gives them a chance, or denies them a chance. I spent many Saturday mornings down Brockhall watching Jonty on the right wing and Duffer on the left wing. It was brilliant to see the youngsters at that time. They were in good hands, working under top coaches like Rob Kelly and academy coaches/managers appointed for their abilities, not because they were nice lads and played for the club. That isn't to say I'm against DJs appointment, im certainly not. The academy, as a cat1 academy needs the best it can get. It's important that the staff are up to the job, that's all.

T J Hooker Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 good honest pro that came through the ranks here and played some real good football for us to begin with but then struggled to cement a position a in the squad, went on to have a respectable career(domestic and international) and its a nice touch that he's come back to where he started, it sets a good example for the young lads. for those on here that are trying to turn this into a negative, you really are sad miserable effers, who exactly do you expect to couch our under 14s? who's to say he wouldn't have been a leading candidate for the role regardless of his brfc history, I imagine his CV's as good as anybodys

Or you just want to brand a positive point of view as negative?
T J Hooker Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I don't even no what your saying(or really care) zzzzzzzzzzz............................
47er Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Believe me Den, you do not want to waste one minute of your life on this one.

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 2, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted April 2, 2015 I don't even no what your saying(or really care) zzzzzzzzzzz............................ But you care enough to comment? I'll not start on the standard of English in that post.....

T J Hooker Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 zzzzzzz infinity. this site really is just dominated and driven by the same half a dozen or so boring predictable soNsos these days, sorry admin you've tried your best but the place is on its knees.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 2, 2015 Moderation Lead Posted April 2, 2015 No thanks to you. Why bother debating if your response to everything is to put 'zzzzzzzz'. Den put a perfectly good response to your thought out post, and you clearly skim-read his post because you didn't like a line or so of it and reacted like a baby. And you then take the moral high ground about the site being on its knees
T J Hooker Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I genuinely didn't understand exactly what he was saying, but the jist I got was pretty lame and boring, I stand by my initial post as there is little to argue with there Imo, unless your just looing to argue for the sake of it, I'm not here looking to 'debate' I just give my take on what I'm reading. I've only just realised that I accidentally typed the post in bold, my apologies I didn't do it purposefully to be attention seekerey! "no thanks to you"? I hardly post these days (along with the dozens of others that just cant be arsed having to keep responding and defending myself due to the usual bs from the usual little crew, as for my use of zzzzz etc.. I'm not the type to say things with a 1000 words when I can get my feelings across in a few, just put me on ignore if you don't like my posting style.
den Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Believe me Den, you do not want to waste one minute of your life on this one. Ha, dead right. Love Jonty, wish him all the best. Good guy, good player, brought up by good coaches. Got no reason to think he won't do well. However, first thoughts were about Kinders reasoning for bringing him in and (I think it was K-Hods) comments that we don't need Mourinnho. Leave it at that.

To be honest den I can only see positives from this one. He's done his badges, so his qualifications are not in question. He's a seasoned pro and a highly experienced international and with his Ewood background he should be the ideal role model for 14 year-olds to aspire to emulate. I suspect Eric can't believe his luck having this type of candidate wanting to work with 14 year-olds and start his coaching career at that level.
Exiled in Toronto Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I'd be surprised if many clubs' U14s are being coached by someone who is both qualified and has that many international caps. The misssing word of course is "experienced" so perhaps we should have gone for someone's U8 coach.

Which is better the ex international or the no carrer type ?

windymiller7 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Genuinely what is a " soNos"? Isn't it one of those bluetooth sound bar things? The capital should be on the 'S' though, must be a typo! Anyway, on topic, I don't see much of an issue here, if he's got the right quals and eager to prove himself on the coaching side then it could be a good appointment for both parties. Always good to hear Jack mentioned in an interview as well, don't forget, this guy was around the club at the same time as the great man himself, so knows what this club meant to him and how he must be turning in his grave. Good luck to the lad.

Which is better the ex international or the no carrer type ? I'm more than happy with the present manager. A couple of years experience in the job under his belt, got the qualifications for the job, is committed to the club. Clearly, you don't need to have had a great playing career to be a good manager because there are any number of successful managers who didn't have great playing careers. Similarly, nothing wrong with being an experienced international and then making your mark as a coach. Look at the great job Cowans and Beardsley do with youngsters at their respective clubs. Both had far more successful international careers than the guys who are managing the first team. I really don't see the problem Abbey.

Edited by I.must.be.batty, Today, 11:48 AM. the above was posted by me on the morning of april 1st (so work it out genius ) and it was "soNsos " not sonos! still not an actual word I admit, but anybody with half a brain gets what I meant. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is Duff still playing? lets go for it and just bring them all in, duff, johnson, flitcroft, jansen...... shortys already here, bring berg back ..... surprising how many players from that 00/01 promotion winning team have gone on to be well respected coaches and managers, aswell as those like D Johnson and dunn that are now just starting their careers in caching http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000%E2%80%9301_Blackburn_Rovers_F.C._season
Stuart Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Novice manager gets novice gig. Maybe we could do better, maybe we couldn't. I see no reason to see this as a brilliant move nor a disaster. The proof will be in the pudding. Far greater concern is whether or not the first team manager is up to the task. If Alan Irvine had come in and installed Johnson in this role, we'd probably give him the benefit of the doubt. The problem these days at Rovers is that every decision is met with distrust because it just compounds, and cements, more fundamental posts that need better personnel in them. We will go nowhere until Venkys go. We continue to be conditioned to be happy with mediocrity.

The misssing word of course is "experienced" so perhaps we should have gone for someone's U8 coach. Actually I raised the point of if there is any rating of "doing your badges", in most qualifications there is a mark or level, and in many cases its not a pass / fail and their is grading (like degrees). In other training courses I've seen then if you attend, you pass, therefore it really gives no one a clue of your competence. If there is a grading, and i have no knowledge, then did Jonty acheive the same or better levels than other candidates for the position? If so then great.
Andyblue2 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I really don't see the problem Abbey. you never do seem to see the problem though, rovers is a problem-free zone in your mind...
