thenodrog Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Not sayings but local diallect peculiarities. Peculiar I believe to Rishton and Ossie the term 'oo'. As in 'Ooz gone on holiday with Oo and Oo doesn't know owt about it. I durnt know what oo'll say abaht it when oo gets home' . Shad.... agate. 'I were agate avin t'child int front room and he were agate gerrin pissedup int pub' .
Mattyblue Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Agate is a Blackburn classic. What I find interesting about Lanky dialect/accent is the difference just down t'road. I.e. Blackburners say dowwwn towwwn, Accy/Ossy folk say it like a Boltoner.

Because everything of interest is ' Over Yonder '.
