JBiz Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 because honestly , last game I was sick of the venky lovers giving it large and if that's the way its gone its not for me . Forgetting the boring sarcasm for a minute (which is indicative of people not caring IMO) Ewood would be a worse place without your passion. I've been blagged to death by capitals, Venky hate threads etc- but this club and board still needs abbeyesque passion. Ignore those around you and just try to enjoy the football. If we are shocking, have a good vent on the BBE and here after - you paid your money and watched so your opinion will always be more valid. This site needs more people in the ground giving their opinions and less people who can't be assed but enjoy a good moan.

Atomicrover Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I understood Abbey totally, this may well be the last season for me too after 21 years.
mustard Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I have nothing else better to do so I will be in attendance. Not particularly looking forward to it as I've seldom enjoyed matches down at Ewood this season due to the quality of football (or lack thereof) and inconsistent results. I'd at least like to see us have a go at Forest, get the ball down and play some decent football. Would be nice to see a couple of the young ones thrown in there at some point also. Ideally a starting line-up that doesn't involve Evans would be delightful. One (other) thing that has baffled me this season is how he has kept his place despite being a complete passenger for the majority. I'm not sure how some can give Lowe so much stick yet give Evans a free pass. He's been hopeless for a while now.
chaddyrovers Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 my Rovers team would be:- Steele; Henley, Spurr, Kilgallon, Olsson; Marshall, Lenihan, Evans, P.Taylor, Gestede, Rhodes Subs:- Raya, O'Sullivan, Spearing, Williamson, Brown, Conway, Cairney

Latest....I was no way going tommorow as I was/am so @#/? off with it. So I was calling time for real. Something got arranged for tommorow and cant be unarranged now . I am therefore not attending for the first time in years and will probably go on Tues . Thing is Im not actually that arsed about missing it. 3 o clock may be different though.
Waggy76 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 im gonna give it a miss first home game ive ever missed by choice. I have had enough . V's win. Same with me Abbey not been on since Brentford .... 1st home 1969 Leicestet and 1st away game Rochdale 1972 and its come too this ....
Proudtobeblue&white Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Going with my boy, it's a day out, and yes I want our team to win, where we go from here is anyone's guess?

ABBEY Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Go on then name them .. We've NEVER been in 100 million debt . Yes we went to third briefly but we we had people on the board who gave a @#/?
Rover_Shaun Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 what would £100m of debt be the equivalent of when i started in 83? £3m? Tea bags on the washing line was bad but then again all clubs were pretty destitute then.
Rover_Shaun Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Lol. Compared to our income and expenditure £3m of debt would have been as frightening back then I reckon
chris_h Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I've been on Ewood for league games when there was barely 3 thousand on. I've been at games when we were in the 3rd division relegation zone. My mate was a Rovers apprentice in the early 80s. The club was regularly getting red letters re the leccy. Quite often training for the apprentices consisted of head tennis on Little Wembley because Pleasy had been churned into a mud bath by the Sunday league.

chris_h Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Who's your mate? I'd rather not name him but he was in the same intake as Jimmy Willis (went on to play for Leicester) and a year or so in front of the likes of Diamond, Patterson, Hill and Barker. He was ultimately released by the club but then came back to play part time in the reserves with Peter Devine! Great times for the club. ( my pal also nutmegged Gordon McQueen in a Central League game)
chris_h Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Is it a secret? He isn't a professional footballer or a public figure of any kind so why would I put his name on a public forum?
Andyblue2 Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 I just thought he might be known to some of the members in here who might have been in and around the club at the time....just asking that's all mate...not trying to out anyone or anything...

Jim Furnell was the Youth team coach at the time and my mate wasn't a fan. He was a big fan of Bob Saxton though and said the that the players had loads of respect for him.I think that my mate was signed for Rovers by a scout named Fred O'Donoghue? There's a Rovers photo in the pool room of an Ossy pub. Now that I come to think about it my mate is on the front row with the apprentices in the yellow away kit. With him are Tony Diamond, Jimmy Willis and lads who I think were Tony Driver and Seldon Sims. Patterson and Barker are on the photo in the first team line up. Circa 83/84 I think.
Mercer Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Rovers to win today. Bowyer always seems to scrape a result when some measure of respectability is needed - lose today, and we could be as low as 12th dependent upon other results.
Andyblue2 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Ok, fair enough. Jim Furnell was the Youth team coach at the time and my mate wasn't a fan. . In my experience of Jim, he was a top top bloke and I spent time with him as a 15/16 year old playing for the a and b teams. A real nice fella.

the original david brent Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Jim furnell's son is a regular poster on here. But seeing we are in secret mode I won't name him! A 5-4 thriller is on the cards today, not seen since Lenny johnrose hit the winner against west ham in 1989

I don't think it was anything personal, I don't imagine that most wingers took kindly to advice from keepers!
