[Archived] Poll? Assuming we still have GB as manager next season and we could keep one, who would you keep. Rhodes or Rudy

Recommended Posts

If I was as outstanding in my field in the way he and Rhodes are then possibly but honestly probably not to that extent. However something similar happened very recently and on the back of it had discussions with the boss and told him where I stood on it.

I'm not as cut throat though and realise the grass isn't always greener but it's often those that are that get to the top. Rhodes true professionalism whilst greatly appreciated here could eventually hamper him, if he somehow went off the boil he may regret not pushing for a move.

Rudy is older, less proven and more in demand (I would guess), it's quite possible if he doesn't get a move now he won't get back into the top flight.

It sounds like you went about it the right way, Tom. If you weren't happy they you deal with the boss directly (and hope that they are open to challenge!). Even if you were outstanding in your field, I doubt that you start speaking to the papers about it. It's one thing having ability but another one entirely having an attitude. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that I would expect Gestede to bomb in the Premier League. He looks like the kind of player that could end up at a newly promoted club. Such a shame that after little over one season he has forgotten that this club has rescued his career for him - although a lot do. The curse of Ewood be upon him! :D

I honestly couldn't care how indiscreet gestede has been.

We're so far up shirt Creek we need snookers. And playing snooker in white waters with an oar for a cue is no fun, let me tell you.

so whether or not one of our forwards wants to go is pure trivia. In fact, I'm intriguedas to why any of our players would want to stay when we're sinking if they have a better offer elsewhere

You're right Stuart apologies for my earlier post was worded a bit bluntly.

I have no idea if he will make it or not he has the tools to be a good premier league player but there often seems no rhyme or reason to it and you see rather average strikers doing well in the top league whilst better players can flounder.

I have no doubt Rhodes would score goals but he may struggle for game time at a lot of clubs, Rudy will used more but score less I feel.

I really would love both to stay but I think it's fair to say now it's best for all parties if we move Rudy on for a good amount - he gets his move when he's in the spotlight and we cash in whilst he may be at the peak of his value which I think he may be, one bad season and his stock plummets.

Door, arse, way out and all that. Hope he thanks us for putting his career back on track.

Footballers aren't blessed with brains, we all know that and Rudy is clearly no exception with his weekend interview and refusal to play earlier in the season.

The sad thing is he'd have struggled to get a game here not that long ago, and he thinks he's some sort of footballing superstar.

Oh well.

Yes, he's jolly lucky the manager didn't think what sort of striker would get the best out of Rhodes (i.e. a creative player in the hole) rather than what player looks useful who I could improve and turn a profit.

Mind you if we'd built a system round Gestede (a hoof to an isolated striker doesn't count) the asking price would be doubled.

Would definitely keep Rudy. Feel he offers much more than Rhodes physically up front and him and Josh King would be an excellent partnership. One runner with one ball aerial threat, sell Rhodes off for a decent fee and strengthen the midfield.

Your only guaranteed goals with one of them though. I like King but he ain't going to pinch the goals Rhodes does. Plus Rudy's often injured, the way he plays obviously contributes to that. It's a good one off or short term partnership but I doubt it would prosper week in week out in the league.
