[Archived] Close Season: just what are we going to complain about?

Recommended Posts

Righto, it is close season time. The time of doning shorts and hairy legs, holiday arguments with the spouse and kids, cuttings lawns, washing the garden furniture, swatting wasps and dreaming up what the latest intrigue is down at Ewood, Brockhall and Venky's Bollywood Palace.

I for one am going to MAKE A CLOSE SEASON PROMISE which is not to criticise GB until 10 games (and only then if he deserves it) into next season. I am also going to buy a new flask for next season when we go back into the JW Upper.

So this is not quite New Year Resolution time but more like Close Season Resolution time.

Any other takers?

Depending on what happens in the summer then if things are as is more or less then it'll be apparent how we are approaching next season from the first game or two. Just like it was this season. I'll try and give him a clean slate and if he does indeed start to have a right good go at it he'll get 100% backing. If the team gets smashed up then providing it's not him behind it then that puts a different slant on things. As is i'll give him 5 games before I get the sharpening tool out !

I'm moving out of the area and hopefully with that will come a closed season where I forget all about Blackburn Rovers until the fixtures come out.

Once the fixtures come out I'll be complaining about why we're off to MK Dons on New Year's Day....

Good make it a big un. We could do with someone handing coffee out instead of having to queue at the bar and pay £2.30 a cup.

Leaving the Country is preferable. I was out of the UK during the whole of the Kean era and just came back for the odd game or two during holidays.

That's why I was largely unaffected by the worst of it. Unless I logged onto the internet and actively looked for it, none of it existed. Best therapy ever!

Turn off and forget!!!!

When an oppertinuty comes along that you just can't turn down a temp move away is a necessity Gordon, you should try it sometime, it may open your mind a little....

All that said I love my town, the people, the culture, and I'll be back as soon as possible I can tell you that!

I won't be giving Bowyer a clean slate as some are suggesting, or ten games etc. He has already demonstrated over an ample period of time that he is not going to take us forward. It is up to him to prove us wrong. So it's more like, after ten games if he has us in a very strong position I will give him more time. Otherwise, I'll want him gone - but I won't chant for it.

The usual source of complaint around this time of year is season ticket prices. No doubt there'll be a barrage of protests if season ticket prices go up by a fraction even though they will hopefully remain outrageously cheap overall.

As a side issue I hated this season's kit with a vengeance. Man City blue and bloody Zebra Finance on the front! Tacky beyond belief and I thought the Nike one the season before with RFS on was one of the best ever.

Back to proper Rovers colours, Royal blue for this season please! I'm guessing the Fans Forum will already have been shown what the Club are going with.

Rovers have already announced a price freeze on season tickets I think

Season ticket prices frozen. I'm with you on the kit though I really don't like it. Get back some blue in it instead of that weak looking thing. By the way did anyone ever find out who or what Zebra finance actually are ... :glare:

The England cricket team may be worth a moan or two this Summer ;-)

I won't be moaning about Rovers as, unless some decent decisions and changes are made, I've gone past worrying about it.

Certainly not having this clean slate business.

More of the same next season, (egs selection tombola, negative tactics, poor use of substitutes, loads of injuries).

Moan over, see you in August :-)

They provide the financing if you take up the instalment option on your season ticket I think. No issue with them per se, just think the logo looks tacky on the shirt.

Moaning about the weather in the lakes in June !

Looking forward to my holiday to Mauritius in September I just hope the dingle derby match doesn't coincide with it!

Like Preston Blue investing in a new blanket to go with a matching flask for the pre season move back to JW Upper !

Yeah the moaners about the rain in the Lake District is a daft one. Don't people realise what fills the Lakes up? Numpties
