[Archived] Survey: Does Gary Bowyer have your backing?

Recommended Posts

Its my belief we need to generate some belief, passion and excitement. It's also my belief we can easily continue to achieve mid-table placings at this level. I'm therefore confident a change of manager could both generate some interest and excitement, whilst also achieving better results. I don't buy into this theory a new manager would immediately relegate us. I don't believe only Gary Bowyer is interested in the job, nor the only person capable of doing it. I really don't see us free falling into oblivion because Gary cleans out his desk. In fact I believe many of our players would flourish alongside a quality operator.

Bowyer is like customer service standards in the UK. No worse than the competition. People are always frightened of change. For me it's worth the slight risk we finish lower than mid table to have a genuine chance of the PL. Something which Bowyer is 20+ points off achieving automatically.

Chaddy doesn'tmake it right though does it, supporters are the life and blood of a club, if owners ddon't care what the fans think then its pointless being a supporter, we are just consumers, may as well spend your Saturday afternoons in tesco or asda.

did Arsenal board/owners listen to some of the fans who wanted Wenger to be sack at Arsenal earlier this season?

or what the fans think at Newcastle. Ashley does it his way and doesn't care what the fans think

Are you suggesting Newcastle are a normal club??

Arsenal are a team who have made it into the Champions League every year since it was a 4 club competition. I think Wenger has earned the benefit of the doubt. Maybe Bowyer will be as successful and enduring as Wenger. Maybe not.

All depends what your criteria is for Normal club Stuart?

By any benchmark, Chris, it ain't Newcastle, or Blackpool or Leeds, or Rovers. To name a few obvious ones.

Maybe one day they can all return to normal.

Thanks to all of those who completed the survey.

3159 respondents in total.

78% do not back Gary, 22% back him. Looking at some twitter exchanges between Burnley fans it seems a number of them have taken part in the survey and voted to back Gary.

I will put these statistics into a short report and send off to Pune, as I said earlier this will not influence Mrs D in terms of sacking Gary she likes him and in all likelihood continue to back him, but it will hopefully lead to her questioning those people who have been telling her and the other owners that Gary has the backing of the vast majority of fans.

So to summarise the threads on this message board we need to get rid of the owners, bowyer, shaw, myers, hanley, brown, varney. Singh and hendry have gone. Rhodes can't go, but if he stays he will be slated for only scoring lots of goals.

Shall we have a thread about what we want to keep?

A pretty accurate summing up I reckon.

Your chin up

Your memories?

Simon Barker? Garns? Faz? Dougie? Shearer? Atko? Newell?

You should have been at Ewood tonight Shaun, the latter two were brilliant, very entertaining. I always liked Newell, he's gone up in my estimation yet again. Some very telling comments. Top bloke, very funny. Atko was class as well. And Bryan Douglas was there as well.

A great night and massive credit to the club. Free bits and pieces for the kids and fridge (key rings / badges / magnet) and hot pot supper. All for a fiver. I happy clapped all night. Great stuff.

Still Shaun, you carry on moaning, not turning up.

I'll leave you to it.

The galling thing is that his snidey little comment was aimed at Bucksrover who travels up to Ewood regularly from his home in the South East.

Anyone who would want to keep any of those in that first sentence needs to give their head a wobble.

To be fair Mick McCarthy thought enough of Varney to play him against Norwich and I'd reckon he's a better judge than you or I. We'd have to agree to disagree about Brown, I thought he looked useful especially for a free signing. Apparently Alan Myers hasn't been able to work for a while because of illness.

As ever, there are nuances which get overlooked in the rush to doom and misery. That was my interpretation of Bucksrovers' post.

A question for Kamy is why these people want the Indians to think Bowyer is popular amongst the Rovers supporters? Why on earth they would do this and essentially lie is beyond comprehension, unless another rumour of wrong doings is about to emerge.

Those rumours did they ever go away

Atko's top bloke. Met him a few times back in the day at fan and steward events. The first thing I knew of that event Bob was friday. Would have been great to go. I'm envious.

I hope that too isn't wrong as it seems every little thing is pounced upon. Rather than snidey it was intended in good spirit. Bucksrover sounded sad and peeved and asked what should be kept.

Gary travels to Pune soon and the line being fed to the owners is that he has the backing of the majority of fans, from what I have seen and heard from the fanbase this is not correct. So I have setup a survey to find out feelings of the fans, of course this does not include all fans as quite a lot of fans don't use the internet/social media but IF I can get 3500 plus respondents then I believe that it would be a representative sample and I will get them fed back to Mrs D.

So the question is simple,do you want Gary Bowyer to remain manager of Blackburn Rovers: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/35JYHGS

My answer is no. I like Gary as a person but football is a results business and not mounting a serious challenge for a top 6 was a big failing of last season, this coupled with some of the most negative football that I have ever seen and the tactical failings at times have led me to lose faith in him. He should be given huge credit for stabilising us and for some of the fantastic signings that he has made.

the simple answer is No, so i will add that to the survey. This line of better the devil you know blah blah blah nonsense is just stupid. including the he brought us stability line. He also brought us no playoffs either.

I cannot bring myself to listen to GB on the radio or TV. His voice, combined with the content of what comes out of his mouth make me squirm.

what irritates me, is that he doesnt even look like somebody who knows how to smile, crack a joke, etc. maybe he does, i dont know. i know that is not important, but whenever i see an interview, he looks like a miserable coach

how do you know that this is the line being fed to Pune and who is doing the feeding?

are we going to start a 'manager out' survey everytime we don't get in the play-offs or the manager falls short of expectations and send it out to Pune? What if the next manager fails to deliver on the fans expectations, how long will he get?

He stabilised the club and made some great signings = BOWYER OUT! Feck me

anyway, you're preaching to the converted on here so expect some witty one liners about 'stability' ';having a right good go' (Dyche said the exact same thing about Burnley after they got relegated yesterday)

I'm genuinly excited about who the Venksters have got lined up for us next. Craig Short? Forget that though, Bowyer Out and damn the consequences because we demand SUCCESS NOW because WE ARE ENTITLED ;)

how much longer do you want to toe that line re Bowyer has stabilised the club? We know he did an admirable job at that, but he has failed since stabilising the club to get us at minimum into the playoffs. We didnt expect top 2, but at least in the top 6. Do you think Bowyer is the only manager to have ever made great signings at Rovers? Yes he brought in some good players on a shoe string budget, but so did Hughes and Hughes got us into the top 6 in the PL and a few FA cup semi finals and Europe.

I voted no, since I, like many others I supposed believe that this is as far as he can take us. We have a decent squad, with top quality strikers for this league. But when our main strikers score over 40 goals combined, but we are nowhere near the playoffs, something is wrong. And most of the blame lies with the manager. He is responsible for getting the squad and tactics right. It tells a lot that we still hardly know what Bowyer's preferred starting 11 is. Well, besides Grant Hanley.
