Iceman Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Hi Guys im curious to hear from you guys, if its okay to train or exercise while having a cold a slight cough? im down with a bit of a cold, and a cough, but no fever or body aches etc. I have a Speed and Agility course coming up this saturday. Should i try and rest for the next few days instead of doing some running and so on before my course starts? Thanks

ABBEY Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I have man flu and going to gym for a sweat on the bike and in the sauna .
Amo Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Always rest up. Training while you're feeling unwell will not help your results and probably set back your recuperation.
Iceman Posted May 25, 2015 Author Posted May 25, 2015 Thanks, just needed a few more info here and there. as ive read different things
T J Hooker Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 don't be a wimp, it sounds like your just looking for some other wimp to tell you to rest up, if you rest up you'll just feel groggy a lethargic even after the colds past get a good hot curry in you and power through it.(plus drink lots of hot tea with good quality honey in it)

Amo Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Ditto of your wimpy advice. If you've only got a sniffle, then yeah you can probably train through it, but if you feel dog rough, then it's senseless. You're going to be sluggish and off your game, meaning your performance will suffer for it, and you'll put unnecessary strain on your immune system when it should be using whatever energy it has to fight the illness. Machismo be damned, it's just common sense.
T J Hooker Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Iceman says in his initial post he has a slight cold, which in my book cant beuch more than the sniffles, bit of a cough, etc...
broadsword Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 If it's below the neck, then definitely not. You can end up with a heart infection in a minority of cases - see http://www.runningforfitness.org/book/chapter-8-injuries/infections If you're just bunged up then some light exercise may be beneficial. But hitting the beast mode and going HAM in the gym with the diesel crew doing reps for jesus because it's still your ************* set while wearing an elevation mask or going tabbing with a 40kg bergen up the brecon beacons - probably best not to.
