whatdial Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Looks like we are still doing well. 10 unbeaten in all comps for the owls, Brighton next and it would be great to slow their progress. Can't believe they're top of the league. Good win against the fat man and Leeds the other night, you needed that after last weeks derby game.

Can't believe they're top of the league. Good win against the fat man and Leeds the other night, you needed that after last weeks derby game. Great win against Arsenal, feel good factor at your place, reminds me of Ewood 91/92, only difference is we went up, don't think you will. But after years of mismanagement I'm sure you'll enjoy this ride.
tomphil Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 Was good to see Hillsborough full and rocking again the other night, Arsenals players looked like they didn't fancy it at all right from the off.

USABlue Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Burnley 2-0 up.. Bet its another 'just do enough', typical under dyche.. Boring boring Burnley.. Edit- yep, hudds 61% poss, 13 corners, 11 shots, yet Burnley winning.. Either.they are.very.good or.very lucky. If it's luck it will run out, if they are up there at the end then they are good. They looked anything but a promotion team to me when Ive seen em.
roverandout Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Burnley are a couple of classes above rovers, when they start playing well, they will walk this league
joey_big_nose Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I don't watch too many games from other championship teams. The Wednesday Arsenal performance was a real eye opener. Looked better than pretty much anyone i have seen in the Championship. Yet still mid table. Such a weird league.

Waggy76 Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Burnley are a couple of classes above rovers, when they start playing well, they will walk this league I am not convinced about that , Dyche is the key at Burnley ! Play offs yes ! But top 2 not so sure and if Dyche leaves then no to boyh... The problem with a Prem club employing Dyche is he has a relegation on his C V not his fault more the boards like of ambition.... Best team I have seen is Sheff Wed , lets see if they can continue ?
JHRover Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I see that the Football League are continuing with their campaign to ensure gates are as low as possible. The pick of this Tuesday's fixtures: Ipswich v Bolton Brentford v Hull Burnley v Fulham Derby v QPR Sheffield Weds v Brighton Reading v Huddersfield I suppose it would be beyond the realms of possibility to alter those fixtures to be along the lines of: Ipswich v Fulham Sheffield v Bolton Reading v Brighton Burnley v Hull Brentford v QPR Derby v Huddersfield This easily achievable alteration would save countless hours of travelling up and down the country in rush hour traffic whilst loyal fans struggle to get time off work to go and support their teams in mid-week fixtures. But I'm sure there's some really important safety reason why the above isn't possible and Bolton fans have to take 2 days off work to haul themselves to Suffolk and back.
yoda Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Looks like the Leeds fans are going to pull it off http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34715421
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Burnley are doing what we can't...string wins together.
tomphil Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Hudds sack Powell, under achieving not good enough over that way it seems.

Blue blood Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 So Powell is classed as a failure just one point behind us, a team with a manager who said top 6 was the aim Not to mention Huddersfield are a far smaller club with us, with worse facilities and budget. Plus he only had about a year or so in the job. Bowyer's totally on to a good one here. Shows the difference that having targets and performance evaluations has. Personally I think Powell was a bit unlucky to lose his job. Given Huddersfield are a small team in the Championship, the bottom 3 are so woeful, and the number of other clubs who're struggling is quite significant I thought he might get a bit longer. And the bits (ok admittedly 1 game and a couple of sets of highlights) I've seen of Hudds they've played some good stuff. Still, if they agreed targets, fair play for having an actual strategy and review. If only we had some of that round our way.
JHRover Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Will be interesting to see who Huddersfield go for next. They talk about a change in strategy there. I'm not really sure what they expect at that club. They don't get big gates and don't spend big money on players. Their squad is relatively weak and the height of their capabilities ought to be mid table. Its interesting that last night even after conceding late on they got a very respectable point at Reading having been winning the game for a long period, yet still decided to sack a manager who has kept them clear of relegation trouble on a small budget. I can't see them having the pulling power to get a Pearson or Lambert, but perhaps someone like Poyet or Hasselbaink might be next up there.

Blue blood Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Leeds owner was never going to sell to Leeds fans. Given he's been done numerous times for tax evasion not sure how Leeds fans can be too surprised that he's not been that honest with them. Good post JHRover - only thing I'd add is, that given the poor quality of this league, appoint the right manager and any club could get promoted. We saw that with Burnley 2 seasons ago.
