Seems my work colleague was right, (told me a couple of weeks ago that Clement's sacking was on the cards).

Apparently lost all credibility with bizarre selections and tactics.

Clearly Clement has something otherwise Carlo wouldn't have taken him to PSG and RM.

One of those perhaps destined to be recognised as a good number two but can't hack the manager's job. IMV, not an inspirational type of guy who would get the lads bouncing off the dressing room walls.

Perhaps learnt too much from Keano about the number one role whilst at Ewood !?!?

Get the sacking given the money spent but why promote the youth chap. It didn't work for us, or any other club from Fulham, QPR or Wolves (not all youth blokes but all promoted from within). I get you need a caretaker but to give him to the end of the season is madness especially when still in the running for promotion.

That Marcus Olsson signing really paid off, own goal and then the manager sacked

I remember going to the Derby away match last season. The way they played and the feeling you got inside the stadium, they seemed to be a club destined for the Premier League. Strange times at Derby.

I think Bowyer might be a good fit for Rotherham. Though if he got the job now, it might be a bit too pressurised with them fighting relegation. Though he would get to work with Leon Best again....

current 3 favourites are Neil Warnock, Stuart Gray and Chris Wilder for the Rotherham job.

I think Bowyer would be good for them. Tho I don't know whether Rotherham owner will go for him

Colleague who is a Derby fan reckons Moyes offered Derby job yesterday and turned it down.

wonder if he will take over at Villa in the summer or waiting for a PL job like WBA or Norwich

I wonder if Clement has been too nice with the players and not tough enough of them?

also they have been rumours of interfering from the owner.

Clement may been another Kidd, great number 2 but not good enough to be a number 1

Even I was scratching my head at some of Clements tactics when I've watched Derby on the box this season. Just another good No 2 who can speak well and looks the part so gets a managers job way above his station.

Not at all surprised by the Clement sacking after seeing the way we played when he was here. Bizarre and baffling appointment in the first place.

Very strange that he wasn't dismissed in time to get a new man in before the transfer window though. Thankfully he wasn't from our point of view as we stole the best part of 1m off them for Marcus Olsson.

Blackburn Rovers. Looking into poss deal for Jermaine Jones.

Crazy to think that it's four and a half years since JJJ finished his loan spell with us.

I've seen a couple of posters on here worrying about our reliance on loan signings. I think it's very sensible for us to do these loans, given our current situation that we're likely to be safe but not pushing for promotion. Gomez, Graham, and Watt, will each be playing for a permanent move in summer and a promotion project next season. They each seem to have been picked with a view to a permanent move, so they're not here to just make up the numbers. I also get the feeling that these players need their careers to kick on and they'd be happy to make their moves to Rovers permanent.

Worst case scenario, if they don't deliver the goods for the remainder of the season, we're not tied into keeping them on.

It looks like Paul Clement was sacked for over achieving at Derby: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/35533154

I wonder who Derby could look at for the Manager/Head Coach job to guarantee under achievement........I'll have to give that a second or two to consider hmmmmmmmm

Meanwhile in an unrelated move Craig Short ex first team coach at Rovers as turned up also at Derby as an assistant coach to their U21s squad.

Interesting times.

Pretty ruthless to sack Clement but just shows how high the expectations are there. If only they could steal Dyche.

Eh, he implied that Clement was going to fast!

It's nailed on for GB, I can imagine the interview,

"now Gary how long would you like to build a team by developing players of our own that could eventually try for promotion ?"

"could we aim for about 10 years"

"when can you start"

The way I read the article was that Derby don't want promotion yet and are concerned about a repeat of the disaster the last time (?) they were in the Premier League. Clement on the other hand wanted a full on promotion push now. Nothing to do with recent form.

Personally I'd go for promtion and worry about relegation when you're back in the PL.

Hadn't realised the reasoning behind it to be honest. What a strange decision that it is... Pretty much like someone offering you 100 million quid and then saying "nah, maybe in a few years"... Absolute lunatics.

You can't plan for the premier league, especially whilst you're in the Championship. You need to get there, get the money in and invest it into the playing staff to remain there. The squad of players they have would probably get relegated and spending beyond their means in the Championship is bloody risky business.
