VinjayV4 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Phil Gartside who was chairman of Bolton Wanderers for many years has died. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35543921 Some of their fans were questioning his illness considering the timing amid massive criticism. Clearly that was total nonsense. Some of them must feel bad although the criticism wasn't unwarranted. Allardyce won't be short of phone calls today.

VinjayV4 Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Why ? Over what's happened with Johnson and Gartside's death. Friends calling and media wanting quotes.
DanLad Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 If Derby want to play the Derby way, I think we should ensure that we beat them in the playoffs!
Butty Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Just seen that GB has been backed into 4/1 from 33/1 too be the next Rotherham boss. He kept us up when we were at risk of going down in 12/13 season but we had a lot better quality players than Rotherham do, be a huge ask for him to go there and keep them up. Warnock still odds on may I add!
Proudtobeblue&white Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 See Phil Gartside's death been announced of cancer. Don't like them, but always tragic.
beanie Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Anichibe turned down a loan move to Derby last month that would have made it around 6 strikers signed by clement to go along with Russell and martin I think despite the chairman's odd claims he had lost the plot.
Mercer Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Am I the only one who thinks the Derby owner's comments are a load of bunk? So, what was the plan at the start of the season? Miss out on promotion but make it look good? There was probably a falling out over transfers. Clement wanted more money to spend in January to get them over the line, and the chairman's twisting it into an ideological disagreement. Derby already had a decent squad and on top, Clement has spent £20million+ He was backed to the hilt and can have no complaints. I actually think Derby will go on a run and secure promotion. Wassall will let them off the leash. Colleague of mine, Derby fan, was never convinced about Clement even when they were going well and seemingly, it's a view shared by a good number of Derby fans. When I saw them at Ewood in late October, I thought they were very, very average and negative - we were there for the taking.

Butty Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Fair play Vincent Tan, the gangnam style owner himself has written off around 68 million of Cardiffs debt hoping too get them out of there embargo. Full article is on Sky Sports lads.

Backroom Tom Posted February 11, 2016 Backroom Posted February 11, 2016 Bowyer was linked to Rotherham but they have appointed Warnock
garnersfags Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Bowyer was linked to Rotherham but they have appointed Warnock That completes the recruitment by some very hungry clubs snapping at our heels. Our seven home games in a month are more vital than ever. The big test for our new signings will come if we are losing at half time and the whinging boo boys decide that they can't resist reverting to type. We really need to give the team 7 cup final atmospheres, though I know this is difficult with crowds of 12 - 15,000. Will be seriously interesting if we take another few weeks to settle and replicate our positive away form back at Ewood. That's when we will see whether the team shares Lambert's stomach for the fight. I'm nervous but hopeful and am happy to get behind them in our 7 quick-fire Ewood 'cup-finals' (and beyond, of course).
Mercer Posted February 11, 2016 Posted February 11, 2016 Bowyer was linked to Rotherham but they have appointed Warnock Think Bowyer has cooked his goose. IMV, not quite the capable manager some think. Think he'll be lucky to get another manager's job even at the lowest levels.

Baz Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Bowyer was linked to Rotherham but they have appointed Warnock No offence to Rotherham, but its a surprise Warnock has decided to go back into management there.
VinjayV4 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 No offence to Rotherham, but its a surprise Warnock has decided to go back into management there. Warnock's ambition is to manage every club in the football league before he dies.
Blue blood Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Bowyer was linked to Rotherham but they have appointed Warnock Good appointment. It won't be pretty but he'll have them fighting tooth and nail to stay in this division. I know which of the two I'd rather have in a relegation scrap.
JHRover Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Warnock is an excellent manager for any club at this level. He knows it inside out and has been there and done it so many times with so many clubs that his experience is second to none. One of the biggest fears when appointing an older manager like Warnock (68 later this year) isn't so much whether the manager in question knows what he is doing but more a case of whether he still possesses the motivation and hunger to be successful. Some managers lose that hunger when they get into their late 50s and 60s but I don't think there's any doubt whatsoever about Warnock. Even when he took over as caretaker at QPR earlier this season he was well up for it. He keeps trying to retire to Cornwall with his family but keeps being tempted back into management. Its a few years since he said Sheffield United was his last managerial job, then Palace, then Leeds, but he doesn't seem able to stop himself from taking more jobs on. This will give Rotherham a very good shot at surviving now. Will be interesting to see how they go on and Johnson at Bristol City who is at the opposite end of the scale as unproven and very young.
USABlue Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Anichibe turned down a loan move to Derby last month that would have made it around 6 strikers signed by clement to go along with Russell and martin I think despite the chairman's odd claims he had lost the plot. Are we sure signing Olsen for a Million did'nt cost him his job.

It was a bit like getting a pronouncement from Howard Hughes!
